I need expert advice for upgrading exchange server SP1.

I having 2 mailbox and 2 cas exchange server 2013 CU2. Now i wish to upgrade all servers with SP1. SO my query is that which servers should be upgraded first.
Please let me know if need more clarification.

The first servers to be updated in a site are the Mailbox servers even if they are member of DAG.Ensure the DAG node you are updating is in maintainence mode. The Client Access servers are updated second. If you have multi-role servers installed then
both roles are updated at the same time anyway, and you should simply start with the internet-facing servers.
First, you will need to remove any UM language packs that you have installed in previous version. From an elevated cmd prompt navigate to the folder where you have extracted the Exchange 2013 SP1 files and run setup with the /RemoveUMLanguagePack switch. For
example, to remove the “en-us” language pack.

I am planning to upgrade my exchange server 2013 SP1CU4 to CU7 . As per my understanding , we always proceed with the CAS servers and then the Mailbox Servers during up-gradation.
But I am confused now , since I have seen articles stating , that the Mailbox servers has to be upgraded first and then the CAS servers in exchange 2013.
What will be the correct order . My environment consists of 2 Mailbox servers in DAG and 2 CAS servers (Exchange server 2013 SP1)

Hi Joyso,
The Microsoft recommendation regarding the order in which the Exchange 2013 server roles should be installed or Upgraded is Mailbox and then CAS.
It makes sense as the CAS Role is a stateless server and all major components are held by the Mailbox Role.
Until a 2013 mailbox server comes online, the CAS server is pretty much useless. Hence, the recommended installation order in 2013 is the reverse of 2010 – Mailbox role first & then CAS
Note: If your DAG have more nodes, you need first upgrade all non-PAM nodes and then upgrade PAM node.

CAS role.
If you're separating your server roles, we recommend installing the Mailbox server role first.

Pre-requisites for upgrading exchange server 2007 to 2013(Multiple domain, single forest scenario)

We have a forest with multiple Domains in it. Each domain has exchange servers installed in it. & All are installed in Single EXCAHNGE Organization.
One of the domain from the same respective forest has decided to upgrade their exchange server from 2007 to 2013.
So my basic query is, do we require to upgrade the service pack on all exchange servers(which is a pre-requisite) in the organisation forest wide or can we just upgrade the service pack on the exchange server in that specific Domain where this activity is
planned ?
As my organization has around 30 Exchange servers running across 10 Geo locations and are running exchange 2007 Sp1 & exchange 2010 SP1, So immediately installation of service pack in all servers would require additional time and approvals.
Is this possible to just upgrade exchange servers of My domain with latest service pack and install exchange 2013 in domain ????

Hi,
You will not be able to install Exchange 2013, until all of the Exchange Servers in your ORG has been brought up to a supported level.
In other words, your servers should be at:
* Exchange 2010 SP3 + RU5
* Exchange 2007 SP3 + RU13
So No, upgrading the servers only in Y"OUR" domain is not enough.

Well I purchased an Extreme Gamer and the sound is awesome in MP3's but in BF942 its pop and crackle. I would like to keep the card and work with it. I have tried everything, IRQS, removing devices, increase latency, diff slots, diff modes, etc to no avail.Disabling services and background ap

I Disabled onboard sound and removed Realtek and Nvidia WDM drivers with Dri've Remover software before installing XG.Don't forget the BIOS is also locked on Compaq computers so there is not much I can do with the BIOS.
So here is what I'm willing to do:
Get a whole new motherboard for my socket 939 X2 3800+ AMD processor and a whole new HD dedicated to gaming with a minimal installation of software and dual boot for when I want to game.
What I'de like to know from Creative Labs is what MotherBoard is proven to work well with the XTREME-GAMER X-FI that is Socket 939 and X2 3800+ compatible. I'll be glad to buy any MB board thats recommended.

Nice case and fans and everything runs cool.
Now a question to the board members is what other brand of Soundboard works well and does not have problems like the CL soundboards in the newer gaming systems. And is hardware dri'ven and relieves the main processor to enhance gaming. I have yet to see a mention of other soundboards not having problems either.

I believe I saw someone saying that a "975" based board worked perfectly. I don't know specifically what they were referencing too, but it sounds like an Intel chipset. It wouldn't hurt to look into it for a couple mins.

Session/jstl and load balancing - need expert advice

After user loggs in, I am getting locale from db and storing it inside userSession along with userLogin. Inside jsp using <fmt> tag to display locale based resource property.
HttpSession userSession = request.getSession(true);

Config.set(userSession, Config.FMT_LOCALE, currentLocale);Also using filter after login page to check for User Session. Currently all working fine .
But if i want to make use of load balancing, whether still it will work?
1)I understand that if i depend on network config i.e. session request sticks to one server then i believe shld not be a problem
2)But if that is not the choice then what else ? Client want to make use of serialization technique. I do not know much about it, how to implement it, any sample is greatly appreciated.
3)what about jstl Config.set(..) whether any changes needed here?
4)Do i need to change filter code.
Pls pls help me, i really need expert advice on this.

I need expert advice, which model should i buy 15 inch base model or with dedicated graphics card. i will use macbook for digital designing on Adobe photoshop and multi tasking. so now really confused is intel iris pro graphics will handle heavy files on photoshop or Nvidia GT750 m will good for heavy work. I am working on very large resolution file like 10 to 15k in resolution approx 1 GB in file size with lot of filters is being use while designing. Installing the connector for microsoft exchange server 2010

We have installed AD connector 9.1.1.7.0 with OIM 11.1.1.5.0.
Now Team is upgrading to Microsoft 2010 exchange server. As of now there is no direct provisioning for microsoft exchange server.
Now we are trying to install connector for microsoft exchange and do the provisioning.
So, what is the connector version should i use Microsoft 2010 exchange.
can i install 11.1.1.5.0.Any help would be appreciated.
Also please provide the minimum details which are required to connect to target exchange server or please suggest us some doc.

Upgrade Sequence for each Role:

You should upgrade your Exchange 2013 server roles in the following order:
Client Access
Mailbox
Edge
For DAG members
Upgrade only passive servers in the first phase.
Before you apply the service pack to a DAG member, move all active mailbox database copies off the server to be upgraded and configure the server to be blocked from activation.
Place server in DAG maintenance mode before applying the service pack to any DAG member,
Stop any scheduled tasks or other processes running on the DAG member or within that DAG that could adversely affect the DAG member being upgraded or the upgrade process

There's a pre-release build of the exchange collector available for
2010, just contact NTS.
If you need a full formal release, we're looking to have 2010 and 2013
support by approximately mid-year.

After upgrading Exchange Server 2007 to SP3 with update rollup 13, OWA not working

We have just installed Service Pack 3 and update rollup 13 on our Exchange Server 2007, but unfortunately our OWA has gone inaccessible.

2. IIS has been reset.

Hi Ankur,
From your description, you can't access to OWA after upgrading Exchange server 2007 to SP3 rollup 13. Firstly, please locate to C:\ExchangeSetupLogs and make sure that it is a successful installation. If not, this issue often occurs.
If it is a successful upgrading, please follow the steps below for troubleshooting.
1. Open IIS Manager, click Default Web Site -> Authentication, make sure that Anonymous Authentication and Windows Authentication are enabled.
2. Click Default Web Site -> SSL Settings, check "Require SSL" and click Ignore.
3. Click Default Web Site -> HTTP Redirect, check Redirect (enter your
https://URL), check "Only redirect" box and Status code Found 302.
4. Expand Server Configuration -> Client Access ->double click owa ->Authentication tab. Check the Basic Authentication and check the Use forms-based authentication button Logon Format: Domain\user name.

You can check the transport service is running in which service account - Local or network
It should be running in network account by default.
You can run get-transportagent and check if there are any transport agents installed
If you find them then disable all the transport agents that you have installed on the Exchange servers by running disable-transportagents
Disable the antivirus if you have any installed.

LUN config for virtualized Exchange server

Hi All,
What would be the preferred LUN congfiguration for a virtualized Exchange server. It will be a 2 server multi-role configuration on a 3 node hyper-v cluster. 1 LUN per database. Exchange servers will not be configured to be highly available. Failover on
application level.
1. Present the LUN as an iscsi target to the hyper-v host and create a VHD on it for the Exchange server.
Benefit: VHDX is flexible
Drawback: No snapshotting of database via backup app etc.
2. Present the LUN as a pass-through disk to the Exchange server via the Hyper-v host
Benefit: no hyper-v overhead?
Drawback: not flexible
3. Add a vnic to the Exchange server and configure the iscsi initiator on the exchange server.
Benefit: no hyper-v overhead
Drawback: Little more complex configuration
Which one is best? I would prefer option 2, but I might miss something?

Honestly, it's tough to say which one is the best option, b\c it really depends on you and your environment. I typically do deployments on Vmware and not Hyper-v as alot of the clients I work with already have VMWare entrentched in their environment,
but it's really the same concept. Typically we use option 1, where we let Vmware handle the iSCSI connections to the SAN and we present the storage to the VM as vmdk file. Option 1 eliminates the complexity and is usually the easiest to configure
for people and allows for easy administration.
Since you mentioned backup snapshots, I would stay away from option 2. Depending on the method and application you are using for backup passthrough disks can cause issue. If you were initiating the hardware snapshot from inside the VM I believe
that would fail with a passthrough disk as well since the guest is not communicating directly to the SAN.
Option 3 would allow you to take hardware snapshots of the drives that the database reside on and you would do all the management of the device from the SAN level. This would be the most complicated to set up since you have to zone it out and make
sure the guest can communicate with the SAN.
If it was me, I would probably deploy option 1 since that usually seems to be the easiest to manage and configure and in my experience, the less complex you make something, the easier it is to manage.

Setting up Mail at work for an Exchange Server.

I am currently using Microsoft Office 2004 Entourage at my work place and want to use Mail as it is much easier. However, I feel like I have tried everything and still can not get it to work correctly. I have all the settings the same as it is set up in Entourage for an Exchange server, but it will not work. We have access to our email from the internet and I tried setting it up as a POP account with those settings, but still... it doesn't work. Our IT guys here are no help at all. Can anyone help me out??

Olivia, hopefully by now you have solved your issue but just for the sake of answering that question here so that people having the same issue can later find it I'll go through the motions:
there are a couple of ways you can achieve this.
A. get a certificate for free out there
B. generate your own self signed "fake" certificate.
certutil will certainly let you do this, here's how:
1. First, create a file/directory layout to store your certificates
mkdir -p /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA2. Initialize a database for the certificate you want to create
certutil -N -d /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA -P "ca-"3. Create a self-signed CA certificate
certutil -S -x -n "ca-cert" -s "cn=SelfSigned CA Certificate,dc=yourSuffix" -t CTPu -v 120 -d /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA -P "ca-" -5Note: when prompted, select choice (5) SSL CA and 'y' for critical extensions
4. Export the your newly created self-signed CA certificate in PEM format
certutil -L -d /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA -P "ca-" -n "ca-cert" -a > /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA.pemthat should get you going
