I need help identifying which Magsafe Power Adapter I need for my Macbook Pro Model A1398, EMC 2673?

Provided the computer-end fits, you are free to use one with a HIGHER Wattage rating. No damage whatsoever will be done to any component, but it will likely run cooler (but may be slightly heavier).
If you use one with too LOW a Wattage rating, you will not be able to charge and run at the same time, and your computer's top speed (for its most intensive computations) will be limited.

  • Can Macbook(2007 late) 60W MagSafe Power Adapter be used for New Macbook Air 13" ?

I just upgrade my old Macbook (2007 late) to the new Macbook Air 13" (2012 Mid).
The old Macbook have a 60W Magsafe power adaptor, it's T style.
I am wondering if this kind of old T style 60W magsafe adaptor can be used on my new Macbook Air which is using magsafe 2, if I just purchace a "magsafe to magsafe 2 converter" on the Apple Store?
    Can anybody share your experience?

    Thanks captfred's reply.
I go to Apple reseller to get the "Magsafe to Magsafe 2 converter" and test it with my old T-style 60W adaptor.
So far, my new Macbook Air is still working.
Hope my experience can help other user.
BTW, I don't know how to change "This helped me" to "This solved my question".
So, sorry captfred, I can't add your point.

That's because the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps that came preinstalled on the Mac all belong to the previous owner. The previous owner needs to call Apple care and have their Apple ID disassociated from the Mac. Then the hard drive needs to be totally erased and OS X and the iLife apps reinstalled using OS X Recovery.

  • Which MagSafe Power Adapter?

I have a MacBook Pro 5.4, 15" screen, purchased in 2009 I think. It came w. a 60W MagSafe Power Adapter. I want to purchase a 2nd power adapter for my alternate work site. I see that an 85W MagSafe is being specified for the 15" PowerBook Pro. Is the 60W one I have all right to use, and should I buy the second one as an 85W?

What about using the 85W Mag Safe 2 Power Adapter (used on MacBook Pro) for my MacBook Air which comes with a 45W Mag Safe 2 Power Adapter? Is there a problem with that?

  • HELP! *EVERYTHING* disappeared from my sidebar except for my MacBook Pro icon, which is still showing under "Devices".

*Everything* disappeared from my sidebar except for my MacBook Pro icon, which is still showing under "Devices".

    Richard,
I had checked Finder Preferences to make sure everything was still checked, and it was. But as a result of your suggestion I decided to go back and uncheck them, relaunch Finder, restart my MacBook Pro, and re-check them. That didn't actually change anything, BUT, in moving my cursor around the sidebar I discovered there is a "show/hide" button to the right of the word Favorites which only shows up when you hover over it (a bad design imo) and I must have somehow clicked on it and pouf! All disappeared! So, thank you! I would not have discovered that absent your suggestion. All is now showing in my sidebar again.

  • Use 2006 power adapter (A1172) with late 2008 MacBook Pro?

Is there any reason I should NOT use an extra power adapter I used with my mid-2006 17" MacBook Pro with with my new late 2008 15" MacBook Pro?

No, no reason - it will work fine (it's the same 85 W of power, even if it's the older, larger brick).

  • I need help moving my pictures from my iPhone 5s to my Macbook Pro

I had my iPhone synced with a hard drive that i just swapped out with a solid state. I lost all of my pictures on my old hard drive, but they are all still on my iPhone. There in a folder labeled "Macbook Photos", but i can not figure out how to transfer those photos onto my new hard drive. All of the photos in my camera roll sync up to iPhoto with no problems, but all my other ones stay on the iPhone. Does anybody know a trick to move these hidden photos onto my Macbook Pro?

    Hey WinstonR22,
Thanks for the question. I see you came from the most relevant article, so you are definitely on the right track. You'll want to follow the steps in this article for transferring information using iTunes:
iOS: Transferring information from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109
    Excerpt:
    7. When the restore process is complete, your device will restart. Then it will be ready for use. You should keep your device connected to iTunes to sync data not contained in the backup (such as music, videos, apps, and so on). You can verify and change which data are synced by clicking the syncing tabs in iTunes.
Note: If you restored from an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts and voicemail again. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I need advice on which processor to get in a new Retina MacBook Pro.

I'm getting ready to order a MacBook Pro with Retina Display for college, I'll be studying film and the courses at my school predominantly use Final Cut Pro X for editing. Because I'll be running FCP quite often, I was hoping someone could answer a question I had about the configuration of my computer. I have everything figured out except for the processor (256GB HD, 16GB RAM), obviously any money I can save while still getting a computer that will perform the way I need it to is great, so I wanted to know if there would be a significant difference between the 2.4GHz i5 and the 2.6GHz. I know it's a relatively small charge for the upgrade but I'm looking to save money wherever I can. Any advice on the issue is greatly appreciated.

Fiscal constraints often have to be taken into account and I certainly understand your situation.  May I suggest that you look in the refurbished section of the Apple online store.  There is a significant price reduction on the various models. They come with the same warranty and telephone support as a 'new' none and can be returned for a full refund in the first 14 days.  I have done this three times with great satisfaction and I have never seen any cosmetic flaws in any of the units.
    Ciao.

  • Need Help Installing Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1 on Macbook Pro

I am trying to install an old version of Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1) on my macbook pro (OS X Mountain Lion). When I tried to install it, it said, "power pc applications not supported on this computer". I was told to "uninstall" OS X on my computer, install Final Cut Studio, and reinstall OS X Mountain Lion again. Is this true? If so, how do I do this?

There is a "bug" in the installer application of Final Cut Studio Pro 2 that will fail to work in Lion or Mt. Lion; it will work successfully in Snow Leopard and a subsequent upgrade to Lion or Mt. Lion after the successful installation of FCSP2 will continue to work.
Once Mt. Lion is installed you can use one of these two methods to install FCSP2:
    1)  Pacifist
    2)  Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:

  • Does an adapter for a pair of old apple pro speakers(model no:M6531) for a macbook pro (model no: A1278) exist?

I recently bought the speakers stupidly thinking they would just work with my macbook -the socket in my macbook book isn't compatible. I'm not great with technology, so simply straight forward help will be MUCH appreciated!

    Hi Kappy,
I appreciate your input in telling me that the new 'L' shape design is more safer than the old 'T' shape design, I didn't know that either. However, there are quite a few third parties out there on google selling what they describe as. 'Genuine apple adapters for many of apple's computers not just the MacBook Pro, Amazon market sellers in the UK are just one, but I think you can find them in the US as well by third party sellers. Anyway, it was these options that I was looking at which prompted my original question besides taking into consideration the cost difference.  I mean if you can find a genuine apple adapter elsewhere for a more reasonable price you are going to save some money aren't you?  However, that said, I would prefer the product to be genuine if it is stated as so and, I would want it to last as long as possible if I am paying good money for it.  Therefore, I am taking a risk in buying from a third party if I go ahead and purchase what they have to offer, whereas if I purchased from Apple then I would expect it to be the real thing.  However, I wanted to explore all the questions and answers first before I decide which party I will buy the product from.
    Thanks again for your help.
