I NEED HELP!! my iphone 5s wont activate after updating to ios 8 . what is wrong?

hello! I updated to ios 8 two days ago and it was ok. I started using my iphone later that day and it just rebooted . Now it wont activate .

look... I start my iphone and and it goes to main LOCK screen where a message is shown, the message is "activation needed" . After I slide to unlock and write my security code it goes directly to the activation page , not to the very begging ,where you should select the lenguage but from the part where you have to chose a wifi connection . I connect to wifi and the activation process starts . On the screen is a message that tells me to wait a couple of minutes . After a couple of minutes there is another message shown on the screen where it tells me that the activation server is unreachable for the moment , please try again later . and this procedure can be repeated a hundred times and the same message will appear . It wont eaven reset . Any ideas wat is rong with it

I had the same problem with mine and found out because i bought it second hand and had it unlocked updating it causes it to go back to being locked again. If you've bought it in the same situation then maybe that's the problem, i got it unlocked really cheap too and now its back to normal and all my messges, apps and pics are back.

I got mine sorted. Turns out because i got it unlocked the first time getting updates via itunes causes it to restart again. Had to get it unlocked at managed to get eveything back after restoring it from itunes. Very happy cause the guy in the apple shop told me i had to call apple and pay 35euro just to talk to them! I manged to get it unlocked for only 20 and its just like it was.

I tried to update my phone and it came up with an error message, I have since restored to factory settings but now it won't activate.
It just comes up with
We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time.
Please try again later, or contact customer care.
I've tried this several times through wi-fi and i-tunes connections.
It is an iphone 3gs on the orange network, there is a working sim in the phone.
Let me know if there is a solution.

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

I have had my 3gs for about a year now. Has never give me any problems in the past. I updated to the new firmware and have since been unable to activate it. I keep getting messages saying about server being down and try again later? Its locked to Orange and this is what I have always used. Has anyone had this problem? Can I go back to my old firmware?

Yeah its locked to Orange and thats who I am with. It has never been jailbroken from I have owned it but I am not sure about before. I have updated a few times from I have owned it and hav never had any problems.

I update my iphone 5c ios 7.1.2 (i think) to ios 8.0.2, however when it was intalling it suddently stppoed and my iphone only displayed the itunes icon with the cable plug in in the screen. I searched all over the internet for the solution and it says to turn the device into recovery mode and plug it to itunes so it can restore with ios 8 on it, however my itunes doesnt find my device in any way, i tried updating my itunes my windows everything, but still doesnt work, help please!!

If your phone is in recovery mode, all data on it are gone. Certainly before performing a software update, you backed up your data and imported your important photos onto your computer, right?

Your iPhone was "unofficially" unlocked by some means to work with a different carrier. Now that you have updated it has relocked to the original carrier. If you do not know who the original carrier was you will need to call AppleCare and give them the model and serial number of your iPhone. Then you will need to contact that carrier to see if they have a process to unlock the phone and if you qualify.

Its an IMEI issue. In my case, about a year ago, after originally purchasing my iP4 from AT&T store, I had a prox. sensor issue. Went to the Apple Store, they replaced the phone. Here is where it all stems from. The IMEI of the new phone was never updated in AT&T/Carriers systems. For iOS updates prior to iOS5, this was not an issue. My phone did its iOS updates along the way with no probs. However, when I updated to iOS5, the firmware did not match the IMEI with what AT&T/carrier had. When I went to Apple Store for the issue about 3 days ago and was given a new phone....again....the new phones IMEI was never updated with AT&T/carrier. I then again attempted the upgrade to iOS5 with the new phone and iOS5 bricked that one also. Today, at the store, we tried 3 replacements with same outcome.
So, after 4 hours and 3 replacement phones with Apple Store Tech (BTW totally gobsmacked), we solved the issue. Luckily, due to iPhone 4S launch, there was an AT&T guy there with a computer tied to the AT&T network to work along with us. The issue is......once the IMEI's on carrier account and phone do not match, iOS5 shuts down the sim card reader within phone.....forever. How to reverse this?......this is a question Apple needs to come up with, because with my case, they have 5 "bricked" phones.
What solved the issue was to get a new phone with iOS4.3.5, new SIM from carrier/AT&T, have carrier/AT&T (in their system) change/match the IMEI to the new phone and activate new SIM. Then, do iOS5 upgrade.
Simple and makes total sense..........however........there is an internal firmware (Apple Security??) issue that bricks the phone once IMEI's dont match.
I am now on iOS5.....no problems......so far. Good luck to all others.

connect phone to iTunes, click OK on any of the error boxes that come up. Then with your iphone still connected to iTunes, hold down the home button and press the lock button and count to ten, then let your finger off the lock button whilst keeping your other finger on the home button for a further 10 seconds. Your phone will then go into restore mode, a message should then pop up on iTunes asking if you want to restore and update - click yes. I followed the procedures and my phone is now running perfect with ios 6.0.
