I need help regarding setting my mail accounts on macbook pro

I need help regarding resetting my mail accounts on macbook pro

What kind of accounts do you need to reset? IMAP or POP accounts using one of the many web-based messaging systems? An Exchange server account? Were they working and now just not working any longer?
You're going to have to be a little more specific in what you need...

Hi everybody, I am in Turkey on a long assignment, I need help solving a big problem on my macbook pro os 10.9.3. The other week my wife visited some website and now we have a redirect virus of some sort, and every other time when we click on a link or anywhere on the page we are redirected to this casino web site, https://casino.7bets10.com/tr/?from=hy9yKXD43jSC-8Oxbw4femNd7ZgqdRLk-dHJpeG9uaXR l. Its the same whether on Chrome or Safari. Does anyone have a solution, thank you!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Need help with my iPhone 5 and my Macbook Pro.

Need help with my iPhone 5 and my Macbook Pro.  I was purchased some music on itunes at my mac. Some reason I deleted those music from both on Mac and iPhone 5.  Today, I went to my iPhone iTunes store inside of iCloud to redownload my puchased. But those song won't able to sync back to my iTunes library on my Mac.  Can anyone help me with that ??....
    iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

You've posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question does not appear to be related to. You'll get better support responses by posting to either the iTunes for Mac or iTunes for Windows forum. Which ever is more appropriate for your situation.

  • Need big help with setting up mail account.

Okay first, I would like to say you guys really need a sticky of basic instructions on how to set up a mail account for different carriers. I use Gmail mainly but I cannot get my mail to sync for the life of me with POP on and everything. I also heard Gmail is buggy and I would like to try an IMAP account which I heard was better. Can ANYONE give me some good step by step instructions on how to set one up. What is the best? What works well? I am willing to create a new email just for the iPhone. Thanks in advanced!

There are too many email account providers from internet service providers to non-ISP email account only providers for Apple to provide "basic" instructions for each. The iPhone's email client is not much different from an email client on a computer and the require account setup information is provided by your ISP or email account provider.
You can't just set up an IMAP account. You must have an email account provider that supports/provides an IMAP account and there aren't many that do. Most ISPs and email account providers support/provide POP accounts only.
Yahoo provides a free IMAP account for iPhone customers but there are advertisements included with each sent message. An Apple .Mac account can be accessed as an IMAP account.

  • Need help with Rules for mail accounts

Today I deleted a rule for a mail account and now I cant receive mail in 4 of 8 accounts. I'm not experienced with Mac's Mail program. Id there something you have to do for multiple accounts to recieve all mail? I can send but not receive.
    Help!
    ~ Tammy

It's hard to believe that deleting a rule could have a bearing on the ability to receive messages from any account... unless that rule did something that prevented subsequent rules to process the messages that you apparently can't receive now.
That is, either having deleted the rule has absolutely no bearing on your problem, or the problem is that those messages are now being processed in an unexpected way by some of your other rules.
What type of accounts are these (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? What does "I cant receive mail in 4 of 8 accounts" mean?

  • BT Yahoo e-mail Account and MacBook Pro

    Hi All
This is my very first post, so please be patient if this topic has:
    1) Already been covered.  The ones I have found seem a bit too technical for me (embarrassing!)
    2) Shows I'm a bit of a novice
For a number of months now I have been happily plodding along with accessing both my AOL and BT Yahoo emails usingmy MacBook Pro.  That was until last week when I noticed I was being prompted for a password for my BT Yahoo emailaddress.  Upon entering my password, which I know to be correct, it came up with another message stating that it wasn'trecognised.  I then uninstalled then reinstalled the BT Yahoo email account and am continuously getting the same issue.  Iwill walk through when adding an account in the hope that someone may be able to thankfully help!  Again, please excusemy novice walkthru.  I am not the greatest expert when it comes to issues like this!
    RE-INSTALLING BT YAHOO ACCOUNT
On MacBook, go to Mail, Preferences and click on the + to add a new email account.
Following fields are required: Full name, e-mail Address and Password.  These are already detailed, apart from thepassword which is entered.
The following message is then displayed: Mail cannot send your password securely to the server.  You cancontinue without a secured password, which could put your password at risk. Alternatively, you canmanually set up your account.Do you want to continue without a secured password?
If I click Continue the following message is displayed: Logging in to the Yahoo! POP server “mail.btinternet.com”failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If theinformation isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.
If I proceed and click Continue again, the Incoming Mail Server screen appears with the following completed fieldscompleted as follows:
    Account Type: POP
    Description: btinternet.com
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com
    User Name: ******@btinternet.com
    Password: *********
    6.  Upon clicking Continue again, the Incoming Mail Security screen appears, with:
An unticked option labelled: Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
A dropdown menu which is automatically set to: Password.  Additional options from this dropdown are External(TLS Client Certificate), Kerberos Version 5 (GSSAPI), NTLM, MD5 Challenge-Response and AuthenticatedPOP (APOP)
    7.  When I continue with the SSL option ticked and Authentication defaulting to Password the Outgoing Mail          Server screen appears with the following options:
    Description: btinternet.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com (other drop down options is: smtp.mail.yahoo.com relating to thisemail account)
Ticked option of Use Only This Server
    Ticked option of Use Authentication
    User Name: ******@btinternet.com
    Password: *********
    8.  When I Continue, the Outgoing Mail Security screen appears, with the Secure Sockets option ticked and the              Authentication dropdown displayed with Password.
    9.  I click Continue again and a summary of the above appears.  I click Continue, then it looks as if my email account is          being set up.  However, the following message then appears:  Enter password for Account "btinternet.com".
The Yahoo! POP server “mail.btinternet.com” rejected the password for user “******@btinternet.com”
Enter your password again or cancel.
The above isn't the only issue though.  Unfortunately I seem to be missing all of my subfolders under this emailaddress.  Prior to the problem I encountered above, all of my sub email folders were in line with BT Yahoo and theadditional devices I use to retrieve/check my email.
PLEEEEEEEEEAAAAASE could someone help me?  A very basic walkthru would be much appreciated!  Not only is my concernthat I cannot get my BT Yahoo email on my MacBook, but also my sub-folders.
Many thanks in advance, and apologies for the long winded email!
    Joe

  • Can't set up Mail on my MacBook Pro via TalkTalk

On clicking the Mail button, I am presented with the “Welcome to Mail” screen and the “To get started, provide the following information” message.
I enter my Email Address and Password (which I KNOW IS CORRECT because I use it to log on to TalkTalk directly), but still get the following error message :
“Logging in to the talktalk.net POP server “mail.talktalk.net” failed. Make sure the username and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages.”
    Someone please help!!

Ah!  I found the Mail menu bar (as I said, I'm new to Mac).  Both "Connection Doctor" and "Add Account" were greyed out.
I went through the "Welcome to Mail" steps again, this time holding down the option key every time I clicked Continue.  That got me through all the steps so I could at least get my account set up.  Now I can receive messages but I can't send them.
Since I now have an account set up I was able to check out the Connection Doctor.  Outgoing connection succeeded.
Incoming (POP) failed with these details:
Could not connect to this POP server.  Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences.  Also verify that the server supports SSL.  If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences.
SO, this kind of takes me back to my original problem (although I AM actually making some progress here with your help).
My server supports SSL and their instructions say to select it.
What exactly is it asking me to do when it says "Check your network connection"?  If it has to do with which port is being used, I don't know where to find that.
As far as entering correct information in "Account preferences" -- If that means my user name and password, I swear I'm entering it the way it is entered on my iPad and Web Mail account.
AH!  I just found the field for Port.  It says 0.  That can't be right.  I'll check the ISP website to see what's supposed to be there.

  • HT202549 I need help with my messages app on my macbook pro.

I'm trying to send/receive messages to/from my son who recently switched from iphone to android.  I have a 4s running ios 7.1.2 if that matters.  When I try to send him a message through the messages app on my laptop, it says "(his number) is not registered with imessage."  But my daughter who has an iphone 5 says that she gets his messages on her macbook pro and can also send messages to him from the messages app on there.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Let me know if you need any more information.

    Hi WT13,
You can do that too but not with the current configuration that you have. To get SMS messages on your Mac, you would need to have iOS 8 on your iPhone and also be running OS X Yosemite on your Mac. Once you have that set up then you can enable SMS messages to have them forward to your Mac.

  • Need help with Installing Canon LBP 2900B on Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.8

I know this is going to sound silly, but really need help with this, URGENTLY!!!
Bought a Canon LBP2900B printer more than a year ago, and was using it on my MacBook Pro with OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.8) very well. My hard disk recently crashed and now I cannot reinstall the printer, nor can I find the driver for it anywhere for the Mac.
Have searched all the forums and followed all discussion threads on the Apple Communities as well, but none of the solutions seem to work. Even went back to @Dexter's solution with trying to download the file from the link http://boolet.free.fr/CAPT.zip (this is what I had done when I bought the printer, and it worked perfectly) but the link doesn't exist anymore.
Extremely grateful if anyone can put up a solution to this, or alternatively, IF ANYONE HAS THE OLD CAPT.ZIP FILE AND CAN UPLOAD IT.
Thanks in advance. Look forward to your solutions.
    Cheers

Depends on how the partitons are arranged. If they're exactly as quoted, then yes.
Open Disk Utility and select the partition tab.
In the diagram, the top partition needs to be the one you're booted from, and partition 2 the middle one.
Select Partiton 2 so that it's highlighted, and click the '-' button below the diagram.
Drag the bottom right corner of partition 1 down to meet partition 3.

  • Need help on reinstaling OS X on my Macbook Pro after formating it!

Hey! I hope someone can finaly help me with my mac problem. I have a macbook pro that I think might be from 2011. Well the thing is that I have formated my macbok and when I got to the os x utilities screen I went for the option to reinstall OS X, everything was going fine until it asked me to introduce my apple id and password. I did it and what happened next was that I got this message: "This item is temporarily unavailable. Try again later". So now i´m stuck at this point, i can´t reinstall any os x. I´m guessing the problem with mountain lion is that it´s an old version of os x that isn´t available anymore for free downloads. So what shoud I do?
I´ve been reserching on internet for any possible solutions and nothing. I just came upon that many mac users have had this problem and some found the solution but doesn´t share it with the rest. Right now im living in peru therefor I cant go to an apple store to get my problem fixed.
Can some please help me? I´m really despreate!!

"This item is temporarily unavailable. Try again later"
That message can also be read as "Mac OS X in not available to the Apple-ID you provided".
You need to provide the original Apple-ID that was used to register that Mac, or an Apple-ID that was used to purchase (even for $0) some later version of Mac OS X.

  • I need help connecting my HDV 1080i to my Macbook Pro

I really want this film on my computer.. If anyone could help id be more then thankful!
    Thanks,

Let me see if I can answer these questions. I’m somewhat new to wireless networks.
Do you mean you've assigned a fixed IP based on AppleTV's wireless MAC code?
I assigned the IP address from the Apple TV to my list of accepted IP’s on the network
What sort of 'security' are you using to stop it connecting?
    Just simple WEP.
When you secure the network does AppleTV still see it but give an error?
Yes, it sees it fine and the signal strength is FULL.
Any peculiar characters in the password or SSID?
    None
Have you manually entered the settings in AppleTV too incuding the IP address?
I tried both Automatic and Manual.
On both the prompt says it's connect to my network however; it will not connect to Itunes, Youtube, etc…

  • Need help reinstalling OS X on my used Macbook pro

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question but anyways:
I'm totally new to the macbook, but my company does iOS apps and I want to broaden my knowledge base. So I bought a mid 2010 macbook pro on ebay last week. When I got it I realized the previous user still had files on the device. I also realized that she had left the screen lock password protected and I didn't know it. I decided at this point to wipe all the data on the hard drive and start fresh. At this point I then tried to reinstall OS X Lion. I follow all the steps and it asks me to enter my app store id and password. When I did this, a popup tells me "This Apple ID has not purchased OS X Lion". Fine, I need to buy a license, fair enough so I buy a license from the App store for Lion. Two days later I get the encrypted pdf with a redemption code and here's where my problem is, I have no way to redeem the code. I tried to download the OS again and got the same error message. I assume this is because I didn't redeem the code. But how do I redeem this code if the macbook doesn't have an OS on it to run the mac app store? Anybody have any suggestions?

Ask the person who sold it to you for the original disks, or phone AppleCare and order replacements. Once you've installed 10.6.3, update it to 10.6.8 and redeem the code.

  • I really need help dual-booting Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro

Hi.  I am totally lost in dual-booting Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro.  I got rEFIt, but I don't know what I need for the Windows 7 part.  Do I put an .iso file on a flashdrive?  Or can I just do it easier with a physical disc of Windows 7?  If you could, please have somewhat indepth steps, as I have no knowledge in this field.

You don't need rEFIt. But you do have to start with an unpartitioned startup drive. You create the Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant in the Utilities folder. Open BCA and click on the large button to print out the documentation. Then read it carefully before proceeding. You will need a bootable Windows DVD, not an ISO file. You need to use the computer's optical drive because Windows will neither install nor boot from an external optical drive.

  • I need help with my mac mail account password!

okay. so i came home one day after work, and i went to check my mail. there is a squiggly line next to my inbox. i tried to send a message, and a box popped up asking for my account password. now i only use two passwords - one is a word with numbers, and the other is just a word. i entered both, and was told they were incorrect. i'm stumped. am i going to have to start a new account? is there a way to change the password and still get my mail? would someone please help me out? thanks in advance to anyone who does.

Well, then maybe Mail is corrupted, so let's try to fix that. You'll need:
    1. your Mac OS X installation disc.
    2. a copy of Pacifist.
    3. confidence and patience.
First, quit Mail, go to Users/your username/Library/ and copy the Mail folder to your Desktop; then download Pacifist using the link above.
Next, insert your Mac OS X installation disc, open it with Pacifist and browse the contents of the Optional Installs folder until you find the installer package for Mail, then open that Mail package.
Select the top-level of that package in the Pacifist file listing and click on the Extract button in Pacifist and choose your Desktop for the destination. When that is finished, move the newly extracted copy of Mail to your HD/Applications folder. Choose "Replace" when it tells you there's already a newer or older file there with the same name.
Quit Pacifist, open System Preferences and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions; then quit System Preferences, logout and log back in, then try starting Mail and see if that resolves your problem.
