I need specifics on how iCloud shares my photo stream

So my iTunes account is where I bought most of the music my entire family listens to, and they are authorized to play that music on their own devices, even when they're signed into their own iTunes accounts. Now that doesn't make sense for them to access my photo stream pics, but I'm still curious (and a little paranoid) if they get them shared to their computers and AppleTV. How does the photo stream exactly work?  I want them to be shared with my MacBook Air (which is signed into the same Apple account as my phone). They won't be shared to my parents' appleTV photo stream if I've previously signed on before will they? I seem to remember that happening once; I am not signed in there now, plus I'm on a different internet connection. I just need some detail on how my iCloud account decides which devices get shared files.
How can I view all connected devices to my iCloud account?

As long as the other devices/computers/Apple TV's are not signed into your iCloud account, they will not have access to your my photo stream photos.  If you are signed into your iCloud account on your parent's Apple TV, you just need to make sure you go back into settings on it and sign out to ensure your photo stream is not visible on it.
Shared photo streams, of course, will only be shared with the people you invite to subscribe to them.  And you can add or remove subscribers from shared streams that you own at any time.
Your iTunes account is entirely separate (even if it is using the same ID as your iCloud account).  Even if their devices are authorized to play content purchased with your iTuens ID, or their devices or Apple TV are signed into your iTunes ID, this does not give them access to your photo stream.  Only being signed into your iCloud account does this.

  • How to share a photo stream w/ family account

I have searched for two days for a solution, but could not find one.
    Our setup is as follows:
One iMac at home, where iPhoto and Yosemite is running on.
My wife has an iPhone 5S with iOS8 and I have one, too.
We have an iCloud Family Account, and she has her own Apple-ID, but is part of the family account.
    Prob:
Photos she is taking are not added automatically to the iMac - iPhoto Photostream. It only works with MY Photostream. It seems that one could only have a photo stream for one Apple-ID, regardless of a Family Account setup.
I have created a shared Family iCloud - Album, but I find this too cumbersome, since she needs to add photos manually to it all the time and secondly I don't know if these are added automatically to the iPhoto Media Lib on the iMac.
Desired solution: Without sharing the same Apple ID both iPhones should have a Photostream (not a shared iCloud album), and this photo stream should automatically add photos to the Media Lib on the iMac. Sort of a "shared photo stream".
Many thanks in advance - hopefully somebody has cracked this nut before me :-)
    Best, Georg

    Where are you looking?
There are a few ways to do it. You can select a photo in the Photo app then tap the Share button, there should be a Photo Stream button where you can add a new Photo Stream. Or from the Photo Stream section of the Photo app tap the (plus) button in the top left corner.
If these options are not available check Settings/iCloud/Photo Stream to ensure both My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Stream are turned on.

  • How to upload from iphoto to icloud in title order using photo share (not photo stream)?

I can get the albums within iphoto (V9.6) into title order, however when they are uploaded to icloud (photo share, not photo stream) they lose that order. Can the photo shared images on the icloud web link be uploaded/or organised into the order that I have painstakingly created?

December 2014 Case Resolved by midnorthcoast
I found Old Toad's remedy presented by Tedious Tom here Keeping desired order of photos when sharing on iCloud
After labelling (titling) each of the 300 or so images carefully in numerical order I wanted to be sure that that's how they would be viewed once uploaded from iPhoto to Photo Share (not Photo Stream).  Note that I didn't want the ensuing iCloud weblink to be automatically emailed to others. I wanted to email the link personally. I find the automatic invitation's presentation confusing in regard to having to register to view the images or simply clicking the less obvious link. Plus I wanted the invitation to be more personal.
    Here's how I did it:
Transferred images from Finder to their own album within iPhoto
With the album open, made sure images were in title order,  View/Sort Photos/By Title
    Selected all images
Followed Old Toad's advice (except I changed from 1 minute to 1 second),  Photos/Batch Change/Set Date/Add 1 second between each photo
    Shared with iCloud,  Share/iCloud
Dialogue box comes up, Clicked on New photo stream
Another dialogue box,  filled in one of my email addresses (not my iCloud identity), unticked Subscribers Can Post, ticked Public Website, clicked Share
Opened iCloud within iPhoto and waited until finished uploading
Highlighted the album, clicked Info, copied the weblink shown under Public Website and pasted into personal email invitations

  • My i phone 4s was stolen today. I need to know how to retrieve my photos from i cloud from i cloud, not my device because I don't have it!

My phone was stolen. All of my pictures that are important to me are on it on i cloud or at least should be. I do not have my phone because some jerk stole it, therefore need to know how to retrieve my photos that were streamed. Someone please help me. When I go onto i cloud there is no tab or application for me to click on related to photos. All I have the option of going to is: calendar, contacts, reminders and that's about it. Where are my pictures?!

    Hi Elizabeth,
You photos are only stored in the iCloud PhotoStream, or as an iCloud backup, which you can back up to a new device that has been signed on to the same iCloud account. There is no direct way to see photos that are in iCloud.
You would have needed to have backed them up to either iPhoto on your Mac, or to the Photos file on a PC.

  • Please Explain How iCloud Works With Photos.

I understand that when you take a photo on an iOS device it is stored in iCloud.
How exactly does that happen?  Does the photo go to iPhoto then to iCloud?  Where would I find it in iCloud?
Has my iPhoto library gone to iCloud?  If so, where will I find it other than on my iMac?
This is part of iCloud which I do not understand!

    Hi Julian,
When you take a photo from an iOS device (with iCloud configured), it will automatically sync/"push" that photo into iCloud when that iOS device is connected to WiFi. It cannot sync over a 3G data connection so far as I know. iCloud will store a 30 day running history of photos, or 1,000 photos from iOS devices (whichever comes first).
In order to access these photos on your Mac, you need to open iPhoto and click on "Photo Stream." From iPhoto, you will need to sign into your iCloud account (Apple ID and password). Once complete, whenever your Mac is connected to WiFi, iPhoto will automatically download all of your photos from iCloud and store them locally in a photo album for editing, etc.

  • I have yet  to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?

I have yet  to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?

You have a couple of options:
    Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
    Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)

  • I have a 3g iphone and I need to know how to delete old photos from my phone!! I need the space but there is no way to delete the pictures!! Help!!!

I have a 3g iPhone and I need to know how to delete old photos. Need to free up space and there is no clear way to delete these photos!! Can someone please let me know how to get rid of these pictures!!!! Help!!!

There are a number of ways to delete pictures from the Camera Roll.  One is to open Camera Roll in the thumbnail view, tap the arrow button (top right), tap all the pictures you want to delete, tap the Delete button ant the bottom.  Photo Library pictures are deleted by unchecking Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, followed by syncing your phone.

Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there (subject to a 1,000 photo limit) until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.

  • TS3989 how can I share a photo stream from my mac? there's no check box in system preferences to turn it on

I've been having trouble to share my photo stream with other from my mac. Once I selecte the photos and click share>photo stream, nothing else happens. The option for "new photo stream" does not appear, neither the field where you type in the email addresses from people you whant to share it with. I all ready checked in iphoto'11> system Pref.> photo stream and there's no "shared photo strem" check box to turn on or off... I also checked in my mac system pref to be sure that my icloud is enabled and it is.
If I select photos and then go to my tool bar and press share. the option of photo stream is not available.
I also can't accept any shared photo stream from other and view it in my iphoto. I can only access it via web.
I DO can use my photo stream correctly and share it via my iphone. and every picture that I take uploads into my mac and every photo I import from cameras into my iphoto also uploads fine into my Ph stream. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I CAN'T SHARE THEM FROM MY MAC.....
    Please can someone help me?

You turn on Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane:
Check the box "Automatic Upload" to add every photo imported into the library to the Photo Stream.  Or leave it unchecked and manually add just selected photos to the stream by dragging them onto the Photo Stream heading in the left hand pane.
