I need to conect my 2nd generation apple tv to an old analog stereo. What is the best way?

So, I have a brand new 2nd generation apple tv, a brand new projector and an old analog receiver. I want to be able to play music off of the apple tv without turning on the projector and so am trying to figure out the best way to connect the ATV to the receiver. 2nd generation only has an optical audio out. The cheapest option I have found is a Digital to Analog converter that costs $90. If you add in the wires it costs as much as the ATV! Kind of annoying as now I see the first generation had analog outputs.
Just wondering if anyone had any other solutions or suggestions. Anyone done this?
Thanks!

  • I need to install cc on my new MacBook and remove it from my old MacBook. What is the best way of doing this?

Well, as above really. Should I just install again? Or do I export from my old MacBook?

Don't try exporting it. Adobe software needs to be installed.
On the new MacBook, sign in to creative.adobe.com with your Adobe ID, download the Cloud app then install your apps.
You can leave it installed and activated on the old MacBook since you're entitled to 2 simultaneous activations.
Or you can deactivate on the old MacBook. Launch any Cloud app and click Help > Sign Out. That will deactivate the entire suite.

  • I have an old 30" apple cinema display (2005) I want to use as a 2nd monitor to a new iMac (2012).  I don't just want mirror image of iMac; what's the best way to do this?

I have not bought the iMac yet but will do so very soon and just want to make sure I have what I need to get everything setup including adding the old faithful 2005 30" cinema display.  Currently I am driving the old 30" cinema display with a macbook pro also purchased 2005 and happy to say I got a lot of good miles out of this rig.  What's the best way to connect the old 30" monitor as a second display for the new generation iMacs?

I can find online new in unopened box a 2012 iMac 27" i7 with 1T Fusion Drive for $1899 no sales tax.  This seems like a pretty good deal since I notice the same is available from Apple refurbished for $100 more plus sales tax.  I know that they say the Fusion drive is a lot faster on 2013 models but some of the speed tests I reviewed online showed the 2012 i7 and 2013 i7 very close on speed for both storage and processing.  Any thoughts?
I don't like changing batteries so I would buy a separate Apple keyboard with numeric pad since it only comes with wireless keyboard.  I'm a trackpad enthusiast having been using my macbook pro trackpad with current set up; and I am prepared to buy the Apple trackpad and replace batteries every 2 months but I would greatly prefer USB connection and rechargeable trackpact.  I know Logitech makes one so if anyone is using and knows how it compares to Apple's I'm all ears.

You can use USB for the Apple trackpad.

  • Hi, I bought my iPhone in Canada but have moved to Australia. I need to speak with someone at Apple Canada what is the best way to do this? Is there is an e-mail address?

Hi, I bought my iPhone in Canada but have moved to Australia. I need to speak with someone at Apple Canada what is the best way to do this? Is there is an e-mail address? When I call the Apple Canada number it says I can't call from my location.

In what way did you buy your iPhone? If you paid full price at the Apple Store then your phone should be provider unlocked and should work with practically any SIM card you choose to insert in it. If you bought it cheaper with a contract then it's provider locked then your best bet is to call your cellular provider in Canada. Be sure to note your IMEI number (Settings > General > About) as they're going to need it to do an unlock. Be aware they may or may not charge for this.

Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • HT1451 I need to move my library from my old computer to my new laptop. What's the best way to do this?

I need to move my library from my old computer to my new laptop (Windows 8). What's the best way to do this?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • I need to upgrade my harddrive, what is the best way to do it?

    Hi,
I need to upgrade my hard drive - what is the best way to do it? Is it best to go to an Apple store or can I do it myself? How can I transfer current apps and data across
I have a Macbook 13 inch I bought in 2009, it is not the Macbook Pro 13 inch model to be clear. It is running 64 bit Snow Lepoard 10.6.6. I have upgraded the RAM to 4 Gig so the performance is still good, but I am running out of disc space, hence the hard drive upgrade requirement.
    Many Thanks,
    Glenn

Replacing a hard drive in a MacBook is very easy to do it yourself.
To buy a hard drives try Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=380&name=Laptop-Hard-Dr ives orOWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
Here's instructions on replacingthe hard drive http://creativemac.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=45088
To transfer your current hard drive I likeCarbon Copy Cloner. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.bombich.com/index.html You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in thecase and clone your old drive to the new one. Then replace your old hard drivewith the new one.
I just bought this one off of ebay for $5.15 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130492731546&ssPageName=STRK: MEWNX:IT

I'd gather by your "reset Safari"  and "clean up" you mean by sites you rather not have your mom see.

I have a 3rd generation iPod touch, and now I am getting an iPhone 4s. What is the best way to transfer all of my data, including paid-for apps and music, from the iPod to the iPhone without losing anything? Can I just do it through iTunes or the iCloud? I have never used iCloud before.

My f210 camcorder will not lock a micro flash card in the drive portion of the camera.  It keeps popping out continuously.
What is the best way to get this exchanged for another one.  I am hoping it does not need to be in the original packaging to get this done.

You can use the Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Bootcamp Partition  - best way to do it.
If you use the Recovery Disk Assistant to create a recovery usb thumbdrive you can boot to that and repartition the MacHd and reinstall the OS directly.
When you purchase the OS you are free to reinstall without repurchasing as long as yo have access tot he Apple Id you used to make the purchase
