I need to downgrade my ipod touch 2nd gen Mc model back to 3.1.3 because that is what my default firmware was when i first bought it. iOS 4.2.1 is slow on my ipod, is there a way maybe if apple can reset my ipod touch back to 3.1.3?

is there a way if apple can reset my ipod touch 2nd gen MC model back to 3.1.3? because iOS 4.2.1 is slow on my ipod and i cant deal with also i cannot afford a new ipod at the moment. also 3.1.3 was my default iOS when i first activated my ipod touch. I bought it in December in 2009

"You can restore to Factory Default which should go back to the original system"
This will not work..
A restore will always install the latest available software.
Again, there is NO legit way to go back at all.

Your problem will be that AppleTV only has HDMI and optical output - no analogue out so unless say you had a B&W Zeppelin or similar that has optical in you'd need something esle to decode the audio to ananlogue.
Some have also reported AppleTV not working for audio when TV is off or in standby.
You may be better off having both!

just bought an ipod touch 2nd gen 4.2.1 and past owner didnt remove the passcode what do i do

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

I just bought a phone off an individual however they did not remove the device from their icloud, find my iphone etc. so i cannot access the phone since i do not have the password and the person is no where to be found. Is there anything I or apple can do to remove it for me and erase and wipe out the phone so i can activate it?

Sorry no, more than likely you bought a stolen phone, especially if you can't contact the seller.
Apple can't do anything to help you wipe or remove.

Since you already stated that you don't remember the answers (or they are incorrect), you will need to contact applecare to reset them.  Once you have reset them, you can edit the rescue email address.

  • Help With Faulty iPod Touch 2nd Gen

I recently brought a ipod toch 2nd gen 16gb model and 2-3 days later the screen just died i guess i took it to a apple retail store in manchester trafford centre U.K and they told me that there is no power going to the screen well it was totally dead and they said ring up and arrange a appointment and they can then replace it there and then for me or fix it if it can be , they would have done it but i was a came late 10 minutes before it closes down and the paper work also needed to be done. So does that mean that i wont have to wait and they will replace it for me without me waiting a awfull long time i have 1 year warranty it expires on the 15th October 2009 , so my point is will they replace it there and then.

If you only had it for 2-3 days, demand a new one not a fix for that one. They should replace it on the spot. Make sure and bring your packaging and all accessories that came with your 2g touch so they have no excuse not to give you a new one.

  • No volume, Volume isnt showing up or working iPod touch 2nd gen version 4.2.1

My volume isn't working and the volume bar isn't showing up when try to play my music. I turnt off my ipod touch 2nd generation verison 4.2.1 but the volume came back for a while but it stop working again. Is there anyway to fix this problem? I dont have the money to get this problem fixed.
I restore my ipod and i am still having this problem
    Help please and thank you.

If you revert to a previous version, 11.1.2 for example, it will work again. Older versions of iTunes, like 10, are available here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#itunes
Don't know if this is suppose to be like this and the iPod Touch 2nd gen is no longer supported, but I would find that a weird moment. I guess we might found out with the next update, if it works again.

  • My ipod touch 2nd gen 8 gb won't boot! (I did hold home and power)

So my ipod touch 2nd gen 8 gb won't boot. It never really fell on the ground it was not jailbroken and I had it for almost a year. Yes I have googled it, yes I holded home and power button at the same time,  basically did almost everything possible. I'm thinking it's the battery but might be something else. If you recognize this problem and know how to solve it, please reply here. I also can't connect to itunes in case your wondering

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi envisionquest,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPod. If your 2nd Gen iPod shuffle isn't being recognized by iTunes (but other are), you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following Troubleshooting Assistant helpful:

  • PowerBook won't recognize iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen, PC will

Just before I throw yet another iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen 1GB down the toilet, I thought I'd check here for "Death Row"/"Life Support" suggestions. I've read similar questions with no, or unhelpful, answers, but here goes anyway:
After a whopping two weeks of use, my iPod stopped being recognized by my PowerBook. Not in iTunes, not in System Profiler, not in UNIX (etc etc). However, it is still being recognized by an old PC laptop I have that runs Windows 2000. So far I've tried the following:
    -- The 5 R's
-- rolling back to iTunes 6 on Mac
-- iPod Reset Utility on the PowerBook (Mac doesn't recognize it so that's a dead end)
-- Restoring the iPod on the PC via iTunes
-- iPod Reset Utility on the PC
-- formatting the iPod as a drive on the PC
-- running Yamipod on both Mac and PC (admittedly, that was desperate)
Nothing, absolutely nothing, got the Mac to recognize the iPod. At this point, I've already used my one phone call with Apple Support (owning an iPod is kinda like being in jail!) and, even though it's under warranty, since I'm in the middle of nowhere in Mexico, getting the iPod back to Apple will cost me, oh, about the cost of a new iPod Shuffle!

If anyone comes across this post because they have the same problem, and you're "tech-savvy" enough to figure out how to reset your iPod, forget it, do yourself a favor and stop looking in this forum.
Below are links to three recent posts, all people with the same problem, none of them got any help from any Apple moderators and got "helpful" answers like "try cleaning your USB port" and "did you sweat too much while using it?"
"Not recognized by OS X or Windows XP -- charges and plays fine, though"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1572062&tstart=0
"Shuffle not recognized by itunes after a couple charges"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1508538&tstart=15
"constantly blinking orange light; no longer recognized by computer"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1444289&tstart=30
It's a common problem, Apple knows, Apple doesn't care, so, if you can, send it back or, better yet, throw it away and save yourself future headaches.

  • IPod touch 2nd gen software downgrade?

I have an iPod touch 2nd gen. 8GB. It's current version is 4.2.1. I upgraded using my brother's mac. My mac can no longer update it's own software therefore not allowing me to update my iTunes to iTunes 10. I was wondering if there is a way for me to down grade my iPod so that I can use it on my own computer. I have already tried downloading iTunes 10, but can not run the program because of my computer's software being so far behind. I do not want to have to purchase another computer, I just want to know if it's possible to downgrade my iPod touch. If anyone has possible solutions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Upgrade the OSX on the Mac.  If it is an Intel Mac then the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade disk will do a full install. Otherwise you need the Leopard disk.  You can purchase it from Apple for $129 but you have to order it via phone since it is not listed in the on-line store.

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen and have ios 4.2.1. apps that will not download, higher ios version needed

I have an ipod touch 2nd gen and have ios 4.2.1. I recently tried to download some apps and received a message that said I need a higher ios version (like 4.3 or higher). I know there used to be apps that worked before but I deleted them. When I tried to re-download them again they say they won't work. Options?
    Thanks
    Westy

Import the older versions to the iTunes library from your computer or a backup of it, or buy a newer device, or give up.

Try plugging your ipod into your computer. Then start up itunes. Let it load everything. Then click on your ipod and play a song from your ipod's library. Not your itunes library. If it plays the song, then go ahead and stop it, disconnect your ipod, and check the content once again.
I had the same problem and beleive it or not, this worked. I synced my ipod like 5 times before finding this answer on the web. Let me know if I need to clerify anything.
