I need to reinstall the older version of Firefox since 4 doesn't work with my laptop - where is it?
I updated to 4 but now it won't open. The install replaced my older version of Firefox. I can't figure out how to uninstall 4; and will that make my older version available again? If not, is it available for download on the Mozilla website?

I have an older version of Firefox and adobe on a Sony VAIO. I keep getting pop-ups telling me to upgrade, and also frequent failures when I try to use the browser. I try to upgrade. I go thru the download step, then try the run step and get a message "not allowed". I have checked and I have admin privileges, and I've turned off the firewall security software thinking that it's blocking the install, but nothing works. Does anyone know if the older software is causing this and does it need to be removed before the latest version can go on. Also, if this problem is resolved am I going to have the same problem with Adobe?

If you have a very old Firefox version then you could consider to uninstall that version to clean up existing registry keys (especial the uninstall key).
Make sure NOT to remove "personal data" when you uninstall Firefox, because that will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Check the Firefox program folder and remove the Firefox program folder if there are still files left in it.

It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

firefox won't open on my computer as it says that it might be damaged. I downloaded the latest version of firefox and realized after the fact that the latest version is only compatible to mac 10.4 or higher. My computer is only 10.3.9 so it seems that it's too old. I updated my OS from 10.6.4., to 10.8.2. I want to buy iDVD and iMovie, but I bought iPhoto and can't get it to work yet. I'm hesitant to buy the others without now having the original applications on my laptop. Do I need to buy the older versions first? They are probably on my Snow Leopard install disc, but I am now running Mt Lion that I bought, and downloaded a few days ago...so I don't want to insert the old OS disc, thinking it might want to reinstall the old OS... KathyH-PDownload iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -
Itunes updated and now it won't work. I unstalled it and reinstalled the older version and reinstalled a older version and it still won't open. Says the itunes

Only option is upgrading your Mac's OSX, since Apple will not allow iOS to go backwards.

Specifically, I am trying to open brokerage statements with Charles Schwab. I go to the link using Firefox and click and all I get is a blank box with ABOUT: BLANK in the header at the top. Yet, I had no trouble viewing the statements with the older version of Firefox and I also have no problem viewing the document using Internet Explorer. Any help you can offer is appreciated. I would rather continue to use Firefox as my browser and not have to use IE.
