I need to restore corrupted bios for a DV6-3103sa

1. Product Name and Number
     HP Pavilion DV6-3103SA
2. Operating System installed
     Windows 7 64-bit
3. Error message
     Caps Lock flashes twice (BIOS Corrupted)
4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
     Updating BIOS, tripped on cable, lost power, bios corrupted.
     Initially tried reinstalling bios with a USB;
battery out, usb in, win + b held down, plug in power, turn on.
usb light flashed few times, it did not find \*.bin so no install.
     Then, it was CMOS battery out, laptop battery out, unplugged, left it overnight.
     Didn't reset bios.
   Then, I tried USB again,
I read I should've renamed 0143FF27.bin to 0143.bin or even 0143F.bin
but it's no longer reading the USB drive since I took out/replaced CMOS battery....
Any help would be greatly appreciated, exams coming up, a working laptop would be amazing

Try a hard reset.
Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
press the power button
If it does not help then you have reached a point where only a shop or service center capable of reprogramming and/or replacing the BIOS eeprom chip can help.
It is sad to say it, but the normal result for interruption of BIOS updating , even if inadvertent, is the creation of a laptop shaped Brick.
It can be repaired but not by anything we can tell you except Contact HP or a BIOS repair company.

The smart error is usually a fatal hard drive error and it probably needs to be replaced. Here is a quick scan of this forum for smart error 301:

I think the high heat situation and damaged your video chip at the very least and someone will have to open the laptop and reflow, reball or replace the video chip. If this machine is in warrantee, you need to call HP or contact them before it is out of warrantee.

Do I need to update the BIOS for new HDD?

I have to replace my HDD due to the current one dying on me. My current HDD is the 60Gb standard drive for the G4 DVI A1025. I'm considering replacing it with this model:

Which as you can see is 80Gb but otherwise looks to be pretty much the same.
Does anyone know if this drive will require a BIOS update or not?
Also when I do install it, can I simply boot from the Install DVD and then run Disk Utility to format it or does it take some other more complicated way to format it?

The only hard drives that won't work internally on your machine are the 1.8", SATA, and the greater than 120 GB drives given this limitation:

What that says basically is you can have up to 200 GB if your model is this one:

But not any earlier version of the Powerbook where the limit is 128 GB (since 128 GB hard drives aren't made, that's why I said 120 GB).

HELP! Need to restore corrupt file/recover deleted file from LIGHTROOM Catalog

Hi,
I recently edited a wedding I finished and sent to her via WeTransfer. It showed that she opened the file, so I deleted it off of my computer. A few days later she said she couldn't open the file because it was corrupt (at this point I couldn't resend because I had deleted it as stated).
She sent it back to me to see if I could try opening -- but every time I try to open in Lightroom it reads:
Unexpected Error Opening Catalog
The Catalog could not be opened due to an unexpected error.
Can ANYONE help me recover this file?? I've also tried to run a Data Recovery software to retrieve it from the trash, but it won't recognize .lrcat files (it brought up all of the .jpegs, photoshop, .tiff files etc -- but no lightroom catalogs.
I REALLY really really don't want to have to re-edit 1000 photos again.

DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY BIOS FOR A NEW BATTERY TO WORK?

I bought a new battery on ebay to replace my old battery and adapter because my computer wasnt charging and didnt know if it was the adapter or battery. The adapter was fine, it powered my laptop, but the battery has never been able to charge. When I contacted the seller, he said to update my BIOS. and to power up my laptop and choose start battery calibratation and update battery to known. I've read not to update the BIOS unless it is neccasary. What do you say?

Hello Dawn, welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you've replaced the battery for your notebook and are now having issues with it charging. I will try to assist you with this.
I recommend following this document for any troubleshooting. It will also guide you threw calibrating the battery. Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge.
As there is no mention of updating the BIOS in that document, I don't recommend doing so unless deemed necessary later on.

Hi I'm planning on buying the Gigabyte Windforce GTX 760 by January. I use a h61m-p21 motherboard. In order to use the gpu, would I need to update my motherboard's bios? I really don't feel up to it cause it seems like such a hassle.

Need to restore corrupted purchased music

I backup my purchased music by burning a data disc DVD of a smart playlist that tracks purchases since the last backup.
Some purchased music files got corrupted on my hard drive and I have located them on my backup DVD, but they will not import to iTunes, let alone play.
Surely my computer is authorized to play these files - it is the same one I have always used. I hate to de-authorize and re-authorize if it is not necessary to do so.
What can I do?

I discovered the files got corrupted before backing up, since other files worked ok and only these would not. I have a new iPod and was copying from my iTunes library into it. The old iPod was not yet wiped clean, and it still had the working files on it, so I was able to Transfer Purchases from the old iPod into iTunes, and then copy them from iTunes to my new iPod.

How do I fix corrupted BIOS? tx2500

My tx2500 gives the double LED flash that signals it has a corrupted BIOS. According to this URL you can "restore BIOS from onboard backup (jumpers)." If anybody has an idea what this means and how to fix my computer I would be very thankful.

Here are two possible methods to restore that BIOS:

Option: see if your system can Restore the BIOS:
Select your Notebook from this List of tx2500 Series
Go to:
Solve a Problem > Memory (RAM) / Motherboards / BIOS > BIOS / UEFI > Restoring the BIOS
For example, if the HP Pavilion tx2500 CTO is your notebook, then this is your Page: Restoring the BIOS
Option - Use the UEFI environment to Restore the BIOS
From a Complete shut down condition (all off),
Press the power button and
Immediately tap the ESC key to get into the "Start Menu"
Select "F2" to start the HP Advanced Systems Diagnostics menu screen
Select BIOS / Firmware Management
Option - Download the BIOS file from your notebook's own webpage -- Software and Downloads section
Extract the contents and put the files onto the root of a USB thumbdrive
Connect the thumbdrive to a USB 2.0 port on your system
Connect the AC power adapter.
From a complete shut down condition (all off),
Press the power button and
Immediately hold the Windows key while tapping on the "B" key
The BIOS update process should start
Follow the prompts to restore your BIOS, using the BIOS file on your thumbdrive

I have tried for hours to find the original BIOS for the DV6-2018AX (windows vista 32bit) with no luck. I know there is no BIOS update... I am not interested in that, just the bios it came out of the factory with. If anyone could help me I would be much appreciated. This is for a USB flash...
