I never know if I have an email unless I happen to be using my phone.
The alert sound and notification does not work with the screen off. How can I get the alert as if I'm receiving a call? This Iphone is almost usless to me. I was better off with my Andriod which would alert me immediately if I had an email. My income depends on how quickly I receive emails. The only way to hear the alert sound or see the notification is to have the the phone in use. In other words, sleep mode disables the notifications.
Any help is appreciated.

Check under Settings > Notification Center to make sure that your Mail is set to properly notify you. Also, check under Settings > Mail, Contact & Calendars and make sure the mail accounts are set for 'Push' notifications.

I have two apple ids one I use everyday an one that's old I need the password an Apple ID from it I don't remember any of it anymore an I didn't have an email at the time so I used a friends email address to activate the id an he passed away so now Stuck

Did you try "Fetch new Data" in Settings/Mail, Contacts,Calendars?
Fetch New Data
This setting lets you turn Push on or off for MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo!, and any other push accounts on iPhone. Push accounts deliver new information to iPhone whenever new information appears on the server (some delays may occur). You might want to turn Push off to suspend delivery of email and other information, or to conserve battery life.
When Push is off, and with accounts that don’t support push, data can still be fetched—that is, iPhone can check with the server and see if new information is available. Use the Fetch New Data setting to determine how often data is requested. For optimal battery life, don’t fetch too often.
Turn Push on: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > Fetch New Data, then tap to turn Push on.
Set the interval to fetch data: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > Fetch New Data, then choose how often you want to fetch data for all accounts.
To conserve battery life, fetch less frequently.

I recently updated to the iOS 8. I have an iphone 5. My phone states that the update is almost finished. I just need to provide the password to my apple ID. However, the apple ID its asking for is no longer being used. For the life of me, I can't remember what that password was. It offers me the option of skipping the step, and when I choose that option, it basically just resets and I start from the beginning again. I then try to reset the password by try clicking "Forgot my Password" When I try resetting it by email, I don't receive any of the emails that prompt the password change. When I choose security question, it asks my birthday and the birthday I type in doesn't work. I am unable to use my phone, other than receiving calls. I made an appointment with the Apple Store, but I really can't wait until Friday to use my phone. HELP
Not an answer: similar problem. Some time ago the email address service that was my apple id was take from the market, so I had to introduce a new one on my Iphone 4S, Mac air and Ipod. I was able to do so on the other devises, but the iPad doesn't allow me, I go into the same vicious circle: I can only get a new ID if I can enter, which I only can if I enter in the old ID, which password is not working (I cannot imagine where it went wrong), to get a new password I either get it sent to the old email account which does not exist anymore, or with my birthday security answer which is denied (very strange, I do remember my birthday, I swear). So.......... anyone more clever then me (or Bignickel)? HELP

I have iCloud installed but when I first synced with it, some years ago, iCloud completely wiped out all my email groups that had been so carefully set up in Outlook. (Windows 7, 64 bit) It was devastating because some of those contacts were entered only there and could not be recovered.
I am getting notices to update to iCloud 3.1 and it seems to have some connection of signing in automatically to Outlook. I am worried this will happen all over again, so I have avoided that particular part of the update.
(not to mention updating iTunes has become a holy nightmare)

If you are hesitant to do the update, I recommend making an archive of your iCloud Contacts before running the update. The following resource has steps to do this:

I just upgraded my iphone and now whenever it goes to sleep I have to enter a password to open it. Very frustrating! Can I disable this annoying feature? I went to Settings and disabled the Find My Phone feature thinking that would do it. But it didn't.

I have a itunes card prepaid and I am unable to activate it neither enter the code or using the camera. I have already opened 3 tickets with the apple support but they do not replay. Seems that the assistance is ignoring me. Very poor customer service. Very disappointed.
I want my f**ing card activated asap as I spent 25 quid for it.Have you tried going back to the store that you bought it from and asking them to activate it properly ? If they can't or won't do so then only iTunes Support can potentially activate it (these are user-to-user forums, nobody on here can do it) - when you contacted them you gave them images of the front and back of the card and of the card's receipt ?

No but CleanMyMac ca cause destructive issues to your system. I would recommend uninstalling it completely as per the Developers instructions, and if Preview still is not working, then chances are good that CleanMyMac has corrupted it and you may need to reinstall Mavericks (after backing up your system)

Don't know answers to security questions or have resuce email, how do I change questions?
I have no idea what community my question belongs in. So I just picked one. I'm sorry if my question is in the wrong place. I want to know how I am suppose to change my security questions when I have forgotten the answers. I already tried to do it and I had to answer questions before I could change them. Now maybe it's just me, but why do I have to answer security questions that I can't remember the answer to in order to change the answers?????? Then it says that if you don't remember you click send an email to a rescue email. How are you suppose to do that when you only have 1 email address and you can't use it because it is your primary on your account? Please help.

Yes. With the iCloud mail you can have up to 4 alias email that come to your main email address but appear to the world as a different [email protected] address.

Hey rbrylawski, just wanted to let you know that my ipad email problems have been solved. Called Apple Sup in OZ, I'm in NZ. Daniel Barber was the support tech from heaven!! I was about to return the ipad but solving this issue reset my faith in phone support.....perhaps until I call a differnet companys phone support eh? Anyhow, for reference the fix is below. My accounts are all POP not IMAP, and the primary smtp server setting had defaulted to have SSL switched on and the port was set to 5XX (something, cant remember). Anyhow, SSL was switched off and the port was swithced to 25. VOILÀ!! Settings/Mail, contacts, calendars/My POP mail account/smtp/primary server/ >>> server on, no username and password, use SSL off, no authentication, Server Port 25 Thanks for having a crack at it. How come some emails I send never get there and I never know as there is no record of it
How come some emails that I send to not get there. I never know that they haven,t gone because there is no record of me ever having sent them. I now copy myself in and now see at lts of them have not been set as I have never received them. I have a Microsoft outlook account and am very new to using an iPad. I loved it but this feature has really let me down. Help
If the emails were successfully sent, the emails should be in the account's Sent mailbox. If an email cannot be sent for whatever reason, it will be placed on the Outbox mailbox along with an error message provided. The Outbox mailbox is not available unless there is a email that could not be sent.
There is no such thing as a Microsoft Outlook account. Outlook is an email client that can be used to access an Exchange account, IMAP or POP account - no different from the iPad's Mail app.
Who is the email account provider for this email account you are accessing with Outlook and with the iPad's Mail app, and what is the account type - Exchange, IMAP, or POP?
