I own a MacBook Pro laptop, an iPhone5 and an iPad mini with an itunes and apple account. I just purchased another iphone5 for my wife. What is the best way to sync and share iTunes music, iCal dates on her phone and my computer and devices? We don't need to sync and share contacts.

I use iTunes for more than just my iPod music, I use it for ALL of my music. Therefore, I don't want to put all of my iTunes music on my iPod. When syncing, I get two options, and I choose "Selected playlists....." However, this is getting REALLY annoying to have to select my music every time I restore my iPod for various reasons. Is there something I'm missing, or is iTunes really as stupid as I think it is?

Sounds like something might be wrong there. Years ago I set up the playlists to sync to my iPhone and 'Everything' for my iPod and I've never needed to change or even check it since, ever.
However, how and why are you 'restoring' the iPod? This is not something you should ever need to do. If you restore back to original settings, then I guess that would throw away your own settings, but as I said, there should be no need to keep doing that. Or at all in fact.

iCloud should not cause duplicate entries in Calendars unless you are syncing using iTunes as well as Wi-Fi. No need for both.

What is the best way to create shared variable for multiple Real time (PXI) to GUI PC? I have 16 Nos of PXI system in network and 1 nos of GUI PC. I want to send command to all the PXI system with using single variable from GUI PC(Like Start Data acquisition, Stop data Acquisition) and I also want data from each PXI system to GUI PC display purpose. Can anybody suggest me best performance system configuration. Where to create variable?(Host PC or at individual PXI system).

Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive. Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes. At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

further explanation: I was totally accustomed to organizing and using my photos and videos on an external drive when I was a Windows user. Switched to Mac about 5 yrs ago, love it, and have adjusted to the differences, EXCEPT when it comes to the photos and vids. I Understand where Ben is coming from, because I prefer keeping my photos on an external drive, filed by year, then month, then occasion. iPhoto keeps getting itself involved, and in my way, and I'm just wondering if it would be better to surrender my way and learn iPhoto's. I will check out the discussions on the iPhoto forum too.
I edit photos in photoshop elements, and have ordered lightroom 4 to learn. I don't have any need for iPhoto, as far as I can see!

Sounds like something might be wrong there. Years ago I set up the playlists to sync to my iPhone and 'Everything' for my iPod and I've never needed to change or even check it since, ever.
However, how and why are you 'restoring' the iPod? This is not something you should ever need to do. If you restore back to original settings, then I guess that would throw away your own settings, but as I said, there should be no need to keep doing that. Or at all in fact.

I've got a PB and an iBook. My PB is my office system and my iBook is used for traveling. I'm trying to figure out a way to sync my iBook with my PB, but just one folder...not the whole laptop...and I don't want to use iDisk, too slow.
I'm thinking rsync but I'm not sure if that's the best option. I want to make sure my iBook Documents folder has the latest versions of spreadsheets/quotes/docs and such from my PB.
Any thoughts?

I use this method:
- first listen to the music clip, while in the timeline, and tap on m (marker) at each beat; after some practicing you can be quite precise...
- then (while snapping is ON) drag the video clip you want to synchronize to a video track and make sure its left (IN) point is aligned with a selected marker
- then drag the right (OUT) edge of the video clip right or left till it snaps to a new selected marker,
- etc.

If you have iTunes Match, you don't need to use Home Sharing.
Can I get that to work through Home Sharing?
No. iTunes Match gets your music from the cloud. You upload from one computer and you can then downlaod to the other computer.

However, this control does not have a programmatic method for importing an image, so the image had to be manually cut&pasted into the custom control.

If the image is static, it's possible. You can drop a metafile on the front
panel, and use Panel>Decorations> to get a reference to the image. Resize it
as desired.
Changing the image (e.g. from file) is not possible this way, but you can
put multiple images on the screen and change the visibility...
If you want to make a picture viewer, I'd consider an activex control (this
way you can load several picture formats without any programming).

What is the best way to sync an Outlook calendar, contacts, etc. with a Moto X?

I am willing to buy syncing software if it works. From what I have seen it appears I need software that syncs to Google and then it will be on my phone. Is this correct? Or is there a better way?
