I Pod + I Tunes

On my I Pod when I plug it into my computer and click on the music part of it I can't play or delete the songs. How can I fix it so i can click on it.

Does the text show up "grey" or "ghosted"? Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to update automatically (sync). If you want to access the iPod directly, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos. If you want to manage it manually then connect your iPod and click on the iPod icon in the iTunes source list to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. In the Summary tab check the box "manually manage music and videos" and click Apply: Managing content manually on iPod
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods:: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Installing i-Pod/i-Tunes with multiple desktop identities

Can anybody help with this problem please? When I try to install the standard software using the cd-rom provided with my new i-Pod, 2 separate error messages repeatedly come up at different points in the process, depending on how far it gets. The first one (code 1904 I think) refers to the already-installed i-Pod/i-Tunes on my sister's desktop identity. (This is also a fairly new installation). The puzzling thing is that her i-Tunes works perfectly, but I still can't install my own dedicated software (we don't want to share our music files on a single installation).
My sister is also reluctant to uninstall her software as part of the solution to my problem, since she has over 700 songs on it already. The second error report (much further on in the Setup process) states :- error no. 0x800400707 description : Dll function call crashed : ISRT.VerGetFile Version. Setup will now terminate. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi there,
I am wondering if you are still having your
    problem?
I try to install the software on my computer and
    it
gives me the same error message and then says
    access
denied. Just seeing if you have figured yours out.
    Hi Sawicki,
I'm afraid I am still no further forward. Unless I am
missing the point from the visible replies already
posted, none of the suggestions actually correctly
address the specific nature of the problem (which is,
in simple terms, the fact that the software was
installed on one identity and continues to work fine.
However, all attempts to install the same software on
another identity meet with the problems which I
    originally posted). Aarrgh! Help!
Can you throw any light on the other point I was
making about not seemingly being able to get
technical support directly from the Apple website?
    Best Wishes.

  • 30 gig video i-pod i-tunes 8 update?

I have a 30 gig video i-pod and recently downloaded i-tunes 8. i expected i-pod software to be updated with features like Genius and Cover Shuffle when i synced but it hasn't happened - am i doing something wrong or am i expecting too much from a 2005 i-pod?!

if you have a friend who is having the latest ipod with Genius, cover flow etc. , extract firmware binary(.bin file) from his ipod and try loading that to yours, even SAVE your firmware(if anything goes wrong).
this may not display the songs in you iPod (even though it is in the Hard Disk of the iPod.) . so the better advice is of copying all the songs in your ipod.[by copying the ipod_control folder(this is hidden)to your any of your computer's HDD]. after that open itunes , delete all the stuff in your ipod ,eject it and then connect it again. now the folder you had taken as backup (ipod_control) drag and drop it to your ipod.
now your ipod is the latest one with all of your songs back.
This sounds like a recipe for disaster. Changing the firmware binary with one geared toward current models would likely leave someone with a glossy metallic brick.

ok if u don't have the song that are on the ipod on the computer anymore then here's what u do.
when u get that message click no
    then go to
    edit
    preferences
    ipod
and put the ipod into manually manage songs. this will not delete the songs already on your ipod. it just means that u will hafta drag the songs u want to add to the ipod icon in the source list of itunes

  • HT204074 Does anyone know if I purchase coverage/support through apple on my i-pad would it also cover my i-pod/I-tunes? My i-tunes library is all messed up and I want to know if I can wipe library clean, buy a new i-pad and start fresh? Cheers Lisa

Does anyone know if you can wipe your i-tunes library clean and buy a new i-pod and start fresh (purchase new songs). My i tunes library is all messed up and I just want to start fresh.

You purchase the extended AppleCare (or AppleCare+) warranty foe each specific device. It is not transferable to another device.
iTunes purchases are lock to the Apple ID that purchased them.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT5622 I have changed my e mail address and whilst this has been changed in the Apple web site I do not know how to change it on my i Pod, I tunes and I Cloud.

I have changed my e mail adress and notified my Apple id but I do not know how to remove the old one and add the new one to my I Pod touch / I tunes and I Cloud.

Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign back
    Same for:
    - Settings>iCloud
    - Settings>Game Center
    - SettingsFaceTime
    - Settings>Messages>Send and Receive

  • How do I add my new 5th Gen Pod to my old mini pod i tunes?

Can anyone help? Bit scared to even attempt to connect my new 5th generation i pod to my pc as I have been happily using itunes with my ipod mini for over a year with no problem - how do I do it?
Do I need to load software that came in the box or simple attach the pod up with my computer and it will do it automatically?
    Please help thanks

The video requires at Itunes 6.0 or higher while the mini only requires 4.7 Go to help>about itunes in itunes to see you version #. IF it needs updating i would get the latest itunes online http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ than just hook you your ipod.

  • Question Re: I Pod & I Tunes

I have a new computer...How can I take all my music from my Ipod and put it on my new computer's iTunes?
    Thank You!

    Welcome to the discussions,
You can copy purchased music by right clicking on your device in the device list in iTunes and choosing "transfer purchases". There is also software allowing you to do this, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • I tunes crashes when I try to sync my i pod

    Hello,
I'm running I tunes 10.0.3 and whenever I try to sync my i Pod i tunes crashes and will not sync. I tunes says it's verifying my ipod and then the status bar just stops and the spinning wheel of death appears. A few days ago itunes was saying something along the lines of not having permission. My i pod may have been prematuely disconnected in the recent past but I'm not sure. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks!
    Mike

    Hey Terrible Teddy,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the iTunes library on your PC. To begin, I see that you recently installed a new hard drive. Did you happen to copy over files from the previous hard drive? If not, I suspect that the iTunes library is no longer locally stored, and what you are seeing is your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
Do the tracks have a download icon that looks like this?:
If so, you’ll want to download these purchases as they are not locally stored on your computer:
Downloading past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
After doing so, go ahead and attempt to sync your iPod once more.

  • How to use i tunes i depth

i have installed i tunes on my pc and sync with my 30gb i pod after some time i have formatted my pc and i installed i tunes and when i connected i pod i tunes is showing that i have to erase my old library is it is must that everytime when i format my pc ihave to erase my itunes library or there is any alternate to backup and restore my library

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. Like StarDeb55 I would also advise that you back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I pod Problem.

    Hello,
On my i pod by mistakenly I press restore. Now I lost all my folder & music from the i pod & i tune playlist. How can I get back all those music again. Please help me.
      Windows XP Pro

You simply reconnect the iPod and reload the songs from your iTunes library. If you cannot do this because the songs are no longer in your library (and if not, why not?), then the songs are gone unless you want to purchase and try some data recovery software for the iPod.
