Elements 2.0 is an old version. The message may be due to the fact that your new HD is much bigger than your older one, and not due to the classical reasons:

Our newly installed Photoshop Elements v.10 constantly locks up in the Organizer.

A small window pops open stating that Elements Organizer is not responding & giving the choice of either closing the program or waiting for it to respond. I we wait 5-6 minutes it will respond but then lock up again as we navigate. Our PC has 3M RAM and the C drive is less than half full so I think the computer resources are ok. We have 5000+ photos in the catalogue. What do I to to fix this annoying issue?

Please try reseting the prferences of the PSE.
Also launch the catalog manager(file>Catalog) select you catalog and click optimize, then repair.
relaunch the PSE, and check out is there any change.

On Windows all installs produce an entry in the start menu, on Macs the program ends up in your Applications folder. If that's not the case, you need to provide more info and we can try to figure out what's going on...

My husband bought his macbook in March of 2009. The computer has been in and out of the apple store for one thing or other. I blieve he has a lemon! How could he go about to get a new macbook?

BTW, my husband's macbook is still under waranty by applecare.

I'm sure this is a "that depends" situation. What were the problems? Were they fixed? What caused the problems? Where are you located? Where I live the term "Lemon" is defined in state law which spells out what is covered, what makes it a "Lemon," and what the remedies are. Beyond that, you are likely at the mercy of your Apple support folks.

"Failed to initialize" error message when installing Photoshop Elements 12

Hi,
I kepe getting an error message when trying to install Photoshop elements 12. I have re-downloaded the files multiple times from different places and none work so I know it isn't a corrupted file. Tried a system restart. Tried using support advisor but it found no issues.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.9 on a 2012 Macbook Pro that meets system requirements.
Any help is greatly appreciated

I have gone through the install logs and the error I am getting is 'PIM - Error could not create PIM Common Folder Path'. I have gone to the PDApp folder and it does not have any permissions on it. I have gone to the folder PDApp and it doesn't have any permissions, I'm not sure what to do from here. The PDApp folder is a alias that leads to the Adobe Application Managers folder. Sorry for the font being bold, it wouldn't turn off after pasting the error message.

Do you really mean Photoshop Elements version 1.01 which shipped in 2000?
If so, it's very unlikely that that version will run on Windows 8.

The installation phase is terminated simply because of an error.
Installation process is terminated just before:
required shared technologies to be installed after the installation of Elements organizer reset and now the installation of Photoshop Elements 10 also.
The following message is displayed. Unfortunately, this is in German.

Photoshop Elements 11 Organiser does not start from the welcome screen

Having installed Photoshop Elements 11(Windows 7) I cannot open the Organiser from the welcome screen. It can be opened via the Editor but few of the thumbnails are shown as pictures rather as empty squares. The situation does not improve with time but tends to get worse with pictures turning into squares. I have tried the tip with preferences but to no avail. I would be very grateful for some help. Try pressing Ctrl+A (to select all thumbnails) and then refresh again (Edit >> Update Thumbnails for selected items). If that makes no difference you may need to regenerate the cache.
It may be worth rebuilding the thumbnail cache before re-installing. Click the menu:
Help >> System info to find the path to your catalog.
1. Close Organizer.
2. Navigate to C: ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs/My Catalog
3. Find the file - thumb.5.cache
4. Highlight the file and delete it.
5. Re-start Elements Organizer
6. Wait until all thumbnails have been generated.
