I put my mac book pro to sleep the other day and now when I turn it back on it simply comes on for about 10 secs and go right back to sleep.  I have tried about everything possible I know of, any suggestions??

Recently I put my 2009 macbook pro to sleep and the next day I came back to turn it on, it turned on for about 10 secs and then went right back to sleep.  I've done all I can think of to get it to work but it just goes right back to sleep before I can do anything.  Any suggestions??
thanks

You can check if your Mac is set to sleep mode:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Energy Saver.
Click Schedule.
You can set your Computer Sleep to Never
and your Display Sleep to Never
