To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
In Firefox 3 you do not get the "Save & Quit" pop-up dialog if you choose Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time".
To get the "Save & Quit" pop-up dialog you have to select one of the other choices (Show my home page,Show a blank page).

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. The pop-up appears at the very bottom left of the Firefox browser. Again, it displays the URL associated with clicking on the image for '''every image''' on the webpage.

The easiest way is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages or URL hover previews, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead.

Enabling 'File Sharing' on my Mac allows my Macintosh HD and Boot Camp to be visible and writeable on my home network. How can I turn this off, so that only folders/files I share are visible?

So I've been trying recently to get my MacBook Pro connected to my home network. There are two other desktop computers in the household, and I'd like to be able to connect to their shared folders, as well as allow them to access shared items on my MacBook Pro. I think I've read all the documentation regarding this issue on the Apple Support site. I do have administrator privileges on my Windows 7 computer.
Issues connecting from PC to Mac
A couple of days ago, I enabled SMB File Sharing on my MacBook Pro, and in addition to the already shared Public folder, I added another that resides within Movies. Then I went to my Windows 7 PC, and under Network, my MacBook Pro appeared. I double-clicked on it (I cannot remember if I was asked to enter my Mac user credentials; I think I was), and I saw the two shared folders: Public, and the Movies folder.
However, today I went back to my Windows 7 PC, accessed my MacBook Pro, entered username and password, and in addition to the two shared folders, both my Macintosh HD and Boot Camp HD appeared as shared folders, both fully writable. However, under File Sharing on my MacBook Pro, only the two shared folders (Public and Movies) appear in the Shared Folders list.
How can I prevent my Mac from sharing my entire partitions? How can I configure it so thatonly the folders I select to share are actually broadcasted across my home network? Also, it would be ideal if I can access these shared folders from my Windows 7 PC without having to enter my Mac user credentials.
Issues connecting from Mac to PC
I have a user account on my Windows 7 PC with the same name as my Mac, but with no password. When I try to connect to my PC from my Mac, the enter credentials dialogue pops up and asks me to either log-in as a Guest, or enter my User credentials.
The Guest account is disabled on Windows 7, and I assume that's I'm not able to log in as Guest (if it is possible to connect as a Guest without having to enable the Guest account on Windows 7, please let me know). Leaving the password field blank on the enter credentials dialogue tells me that it's incorrect (even though I don't have a password on my Windows 7 account).
Is it possible to access shared files and folders on my Windows 7 PC from my Mac without having to create a password protected account? If not, is it possible to create a password for the sake of accessing shared files, while not requiring it to log in to the account? I'm sorry, I know this last bit more falls under the category of Windows Help.

Sharing files from a Mac to a PC is a different animal. I've never done it myself so you may want to repost a separate question on this topic.
From what I understand, in order to access files from a Mac on a PC, you must log in using your Mac username and password (no anonymous file sharing). Since this is not very desirable from a security standpoint, Apple recommends creating a separate user account on the Mac that is dedicated to file sharing. Give that account access only to the files/folders you want to share. You can then give that user account name and password to your Windows users.

I continue to get error (0x80092013) when trying to access the iTunes Store; even when I don't click it and iTunes is open it will pop up. Now, when syncing my iPod, it says my computer is unauthorized for my Apple ID.

I have used the same Apple ID and computer for years with no changes even now, and suddenly I am unable to sync my iPod. When I authorize it and log in correctly, I get the (0x80092013) error again, as WELL as error (-50). This is extremely annoying! How do I fix this?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Aperture is displaying the metering grid from my camera - how do I turn this off? If I use the loop the grid is not there.....any thoughts whould be appericated.

Does the command "View > Show Focus Points" disable the grid? I don't know of any other control that would show the metering details.

Itunes has organised my ipod playlist alphabetically, how do it turn it off?

I recently synched my iPod to my laptop so I could arrange my workout playlist, and iTunes has arranged the playlist alphabetically rather than the arrangement I wanted. I know that this is probably a really obvious question, but how do I turn it off so I can see the playlist as I have arranged it.

If you select "Show my home page", then also check the contents of "Home page" (same settings tab as above). If it contains multiple URLs, all those URLs will be opened each time.

Turn off iMessage and Facetime. Put phone on airplane mode. Turn on iMessage then facetime and retry sending. You can also try turning off your phone instead of airplane mode as well.
Make sure for imessage to work there must be data such as cellular data on or wifi.

It's "aspect ratio", not aspect "ration".
It's what determines whether you have square pixels ("normal") or, if rectangular pixels, what the aspect ratio (width : length) of that rectangle is.

It sounds that you are running the same iCloud account with two phones. I recommend you to create a different iCloud account and you should be all set.

I understand the design change to the whole "save as app" tab, but I feel that Save and Quit feature from the previous version of Firefox is much better than this "app tab" feature. Is there anyway for me to have this back?

Restore previous session button available on my Firefox homepage is great, but what I really want is the Save and Quit feature. I have always felt that its one of the best features of Firefox, second only to search address bar directly leading me to the actual page. I read some threads about this, and found the answers very unconvincing. One of the suggested ones was "Pin as app tab" . No, I don't want to pin every tab that I want to visit say, thrice as an app. Second suggestion was, click on the obvious button on the homepage to restore the tabs(this took me quite a while to actually see). Why this change in design? This is identical to Chrome's but its very inferior to what Firefox already had. Is there anyway, without downgrading of course, I can get that feature back?

Okay, I found the answer myself. Going to about:config and setting browser.showQuitWarning to true, restored that option and brought it back. Thanks to anyone who is about to post. If this is false by default, it has got to change.
