I recently bought a Brother MFC-J430W, and it is Mac compatible, but no matter what drivers I install, I cannot connect the machine to my macbook pro. The CD for MFL Pro Suite does not let me open the "start up" part so I am very stuck!
I cannot access my MFL Pro Suite CD no matter what drivers I install. I have OSX 10.8 updated right now. Please help, I'll be needing my printer in a couple days for university!

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder. -
I Have a Macbook Pro that does not have a disk drive. How do I install the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 that came with the Epson scanner I purchased. I registered the S/N and I can't find the Free download anywhere only trials.

Help. I recently bought a Brother MFC-J4410DW + printer/scanner/copier and I cannot figure out how to make it wirelessly print from my Mac desktop. I have OSX 10.8.3. I have tried downloading so many drivers and still nothing. Any advice?

-JRIs your printer connected to your network? LAN / WLAN. If you can connect it to LAN for testing. do so! If you have configured the printer in the LAN access the printer through your browser (type in ip-adress). Normally printers have a webapplication to configure them. Check in their if you can do any settings --> Wireless. If possible give printer (WLAN)- IP, diconnect LAN and try to access webapplication through wireless. If that is possible it should be possible to print by manually configuring your printer in your operating system --> Preferences-->printe&scan--> add(+)-->IP --> put in your settings!

What are the different ways to back up your photos from iphoto using a MacBook Pro which does not have a disk drive?
Note - that no internet backup service has been proven to be safe and effective for backing up the iPhoto library - unless you personally have backup uyp an iPhoto library and restored it sucussfuly form one it should not be recommended - a large number of people have lost their photos trying it

Hi everybody, my Macbook pro 2009 does not start anymore.
I can hear the startsound, the screan lights, thats it.

changing RAM, nothing works...any ideas?

I have an iPod Nano generation six, and since I had to get a new hard drive on my Macbook pro, the nano no longer registers in iTunes. My other devices show up fine. I have followed all the trouble shooting advice,and nothing works.

MacBook Pro screen does not turn on after using external display?

I am using a 15 inch MacBook pro from mid 2012. At work I connect it via mini-display port to an eternal monitor. Recently however, sometimes after I go home and try to turn the laptop back on, it turns on, but the screen does not. If I connect it to another external monitor, it uses that as the default display. Sometimes I can just restart the laptop and everything is fine, other times I have to turn it back on while holding the shift key in order for the laptops built in display to be used.
After work, I unplug the mini-display port, and then power off the laptop.
Can anyone help me understand why this may be happening so I can prevent it from happening again?

Also try a pram reset. Power off, power on holding the keys: Option, command,P,R(no commas) press the keys before thr start chime, then hold them till you hear the chime 2 times. Release and reboot.

I have a mid 2009 15" Macbook Pro that does not recognize there is an Airport card installed.
I bought the Macbook Pro secondhand and I'm sure I saw the Airport Icon when I first booted up, but then I did a clean install of 10.8 and since then I can not get Airport turned on again. The machine had damage to the clutch cover so I assumed the Airport card was faulty and replaced it but no joy, I then sourced a new WiFi / Camera cable and plugged that into the motherboard and tried each of the cards and still nothing. I've used Detectnewhardware and edited locations and still nothing. I am assuming that if the card was detected then I'd see the Airport option come up in Network settings but nothing I do triggers that. One thing I noticed is that with both cards and cables when connected in any combination the Airport card gets hot very quickly, which I find strange given it's allegedly not turned on.
Are there other settings that might be making the card invisable to my machine, it's possible this was a Corporate machine in an earlier life so I'm wondering if there's a low level setting that disables WiFi, although I'm sure I saw it come up the first time I used it but maybe my memory is playing triks.
I've also tried a USB WiFi dongle and that doesn't do anything either, but I think that could be a driver issue.
Other than the logic board I can't think of anything else to change, and I don't want to change that, so if anyone has ideas please let me know and put me out of my misery.

Macbook pro/iPad3 does not sync app updates
Have the iPad (1) and the iPad3 and have updated many an app on a Dell latop that always sync'd the new purchased and updated apps with both the iPads and even my iPhone 4 without any issues (ever). I recently got a macbook pro and since then app udates and/or new purchases downlowds and updates on the macbook and on the dell laptop, but none of the apps/updates or new apps sync with any of the other devices.
Messages I get is that the computer in not authorised anymore, I then reauthorise the macbook/dell laptop and get the message that it is already authorised. then I deauthorise it and then reauthorise it, same outcome.
All the sync does is the contacts, calenders, safari browse etc etc, but when the apps ar to be sync'd updated on the pads and phone, the process status indicates that it is busy "Determining apps to sync" and without any other action and very quickly after this, the entire sync process is finished without updating the apps. The next step is the messages i get indicating that the iPad/s and/or iPhone is not authorised.
is there a setting that I need to change on the macbook that will resolve this issue or is the probelm on the tow iPads and the iPhone?
Tech's at the iStore said my iPad needed to be restored to factory default, which was done, but even that did not resolve the issue. Please help?Go to iCloud.com and see if your Calendar is syncing there. If not, go to System Preferences/iCloud and make sure Calendar syncing is checked. If it is syncing, go to iPhone Settings and make sure it is set up to sync Calendar. If it is set up on the iPhone, try deselecting iCloud syncing, put the iPhone in the airplane mode for a couple of minutes, and then set syncing up again.

MacBook Pro 2011 does not detect external monitor
I have a MacBook Pro 13'' early 2011 runing Lion 1.7.2.
I have an HP v185ws external monitor connected via an Apple Thunderbolt to VGA connector.
Since last month's Thunderbolt firmware update, my external monitor is no longer detected.
Does anybody has a solution to this problem?

I use Tecklink Mini DasplayPort to HDMI adapter (http://www.techlink.uk.com/products/wires_cables/wiresmedia/wiresmedia_media/wir esmedia_mini_displayport_plug_to_hdmi_plug), but since U2311H doesn't have HDMI input, I also use Manhattan DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (http://www.manhattan-products.com/en-US/products/8101-displayport-adapter).
And nothing.
The display is not detected, no picture or even external monitor presence at all.
I even reset PRAM, and installed 10.8.2 Supplementary update.
I also plugged and unplugged all I could, with no luck.
As I can see on Apple discussion, it is a common problem with 2011 MacBook Pro's.
It seems like the problem is in Thundebolt port, it somehow does not work properly.
