I recently had a hard drive crash and had to reinstall PS. Now it doesn't work right.

I recently had a hard drive crash. I replaced the C: drive with a solid state and now have 3 internal HDs. C: for the OS (Windows 7), D: for data and P: for program installation. Because I replaced the C: drive, I had to re-install all my programs. Now, PhotoShop will not let me place text, inserting the text tool causes the program to stop responding. In InDesign, if I try to place a MS Word document, it acts as if I never did that action and I can't get it placed.
I can copy and paste, but doing so makes the formatting get left behind. I suspect it may not have installed correctly. I've used Adobe products since 1991 and never had this happen before. I even used Aldus PageMaker before the Suites were available. Can anyone help? Is it a reinstallation issue?
I use PhotoTools from OnOne and if I uninstall it to reinstall CS4, I'm afraid it will no longer honor my product key.
I will not give up until this work like it used to. I'm too old to upgrade.

The faulty HD was replaced with a solid state one and that works fine. The fan that caused the errors on the old HD was removed. The system is probably not an issue since I had to reinstall my Windows 7 and it was the only thing installed on the C: drive. I have another drive that I run programs from and one other that I use only for data. Plus a backup drive. The BIOS was reset. The only remaining problems I have are trying to find the software for the web cam driver and I think I will just download it again and my problem with PhotoShop and InDesign. Those two are the sticky ones,I depend on those programs. They work, even my PhotoTools plugin works. The only problems seem to be using the type tool in PS and placing MS Word documents (.docs and .docxs) I think the program must not have installed correctly but I'm afraid if I reinstall it, it might be worse and then I might have to reinstall PhotoTools. That would require calling the company again because when I reinstalled it the last time, it said that it couldn't accept the product #, it had been used before. Yeah, by me. I called them and they gave me a new number, but I don't know if they will be happy if I do that again. So, my best bet is to see if I can fix those two functions.     When my mac mini (late 2009) hard drive crashed I installed a new one. During the process I used migration assistant to bring in my time machine backup. When finished I did not have all applications...iPhoto, CC Cleaner, Chrome, and most importantly Reunion all failed to load. I have since manuay fixed Chrome and CC Cleaner but still do not have Renion or the OSX iPhoto and other apple OSX applications working. Can someone help or driect me to the right forum?

    Restore failed to provide all the applications and data. Took the mini to Apple genius today. They reinstalled OSX (same as I had done) then confirmed that the applications were not backed up to time machine...they will be in the future. After reloading each individual application they now work as expected and all the data seems to have been restored. Except the Reunion files which were near and dear. These are gone forever. Somehow, perhaps through my negligence, the 'GED' files were not stored in a "Reunion" folder and were not backed up...much like the apps. Now I'm trying to recover the files from the crashed drive.

    My computer has crashed several times since I bought my first ipod in 2005.  Recently, it crashed so badly that my fella who fixed it just wiped everything off it and reinstalled things.  I have a new ipod now and just got my computer back.  I log in to itunes, register my ipod, and, its bad enough that everytime my computer crashes and is fixed that itunes thinks I am connecting yet another computer to my account  (it believes I have four computers/devices but I have only ever had one ipod and one computer simultaneously),. but on top of that, all my songs listed in my purchase history are not in my library. Hundreds of songs. 
       How can I download them again?  I was told in the Apple Store to deauthorize the computer and reauthorize it and it should begin downloading my previous purchases into my library. I tried that, but to no avail.

    It is the users responsibility to maintain a backup of their files.
    If you have failed to keep a backup, that is not good.
    If the content is on your iDevice and it was purchased via iTunes, connect the device (DO NOT SYNC) then select File > Transfer Purchases.
    If the content is on the device but was not purchased via iTunes, you're out of luck mostly.  Do a google search, you can find utilities that will allow you to extract the content.
    If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, there is an option to redownload previously purchased iTunes content.  To do this, in iTunes select Purchased, then at the bottom select Download Previously Purchased.  There are options for Music, Apps, and iBooks.  Select the "Not in My Library" option and download what you want.

    If you have Lightroom installed, then all you should have to do is double click on the catalog that you restored.  If the external hard drive letter is the same as it was before, you should be ready to go.  If the letter has changed it will be necessary for you to use the find missing folders feature to get things synchronized.

    I bought my macbook pro (mid 2012 version) 10 months ago and it's been working fine up until now (running on Yosemite). When I opened the lid today, a flashing question mark appeared on the screen. I restarted my mac while holding the option key. I tried to do an internet reinstall but I can't get it to work. When I try to reinstall the OS that came with my mac, there are no options for me to click when asked to select a disk.
    I have tried following instructions from multiple threads about how to change the disk utility.
    Options on the lefthand side: "disk0" and "mac OS X base system". Options on the right: disk0 - first aid, erase, partition, and restore. Mac OS X base system - first aid, erase, restore.
    None of the solutions I've found online are working for me. Most of the options in the disk utility menu are greyed out, so I can't click on them.
    Sorry for any typos, it is hard to type this all out on my phone. I have tried to upload pictures, but it doesn't seem to be working. I also apologize if this is in the wrong category.

    I bought a new external HD 3TB, I used it as a back for Time machine and also wanted to use it for watching my movies etc on my TV. The TV won't recognise any video's on the HD. Is there some reason this would happen due to using it for Time Machine?

    If you are talking about a drive that you connect directly to your TV, typically they will recognize only drives formatted in some specific way & only certain kinds of movie files. You can check your TV users manual or its manufacturer's web site for information about this, but in general they will not recognize drives using the format Time Machine requires.

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just this reason.
    Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

    Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

    Officially you don't. Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

    I have a similar issue. My hard drive crashed, so I had a new one installed and I'm basically starting from scratch on my computer.  My iPhone has a lot of my stuff on it (photos and music in particular).  When I plugged into iTunes I did a "back up" of my phone to the computer....this transferred the photos in my camera roll, and music purchased through iTunes.
    So....I still have a ton of photos (saved in folders, not my camera roll), and music (older stuff not purchased through iTunes) that I want to get to my computer.  I am scared to "sync" my phone in iTunes for the first time.....if I do this, will it make my phone match my computer (effectively erasing the stuff on the phone?).  What I want is for my computer to match my phone (thus transferring the additional photos and music).  Is the third party software the only way??  Does it really work well/is it worth the money?  Thanks very much for the help.

    A blank drive needs to be formatted first, you do that hold c boot (or hold option key boot) from the 10.6 install disk (or Lion USB)

    if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
