I recently installed iTunes 4.3 and can't drag and drop music into my 'music library' anymore?
I recently installed iTunes 4.3.5 and can't drag and drop music into my 'music library' anymore. Every time I try to drag the music from a folder into the library, that little circle with the line thru it comes up (not allowed symbol). I've been using iTunes for years and am pretty computer savvy... I have no idea what the problem is. The only way I can add music right now is if I go to File>Add File to Library and that takes way too long, especially when adding 20-30 songs. I am using Windows 7 and I have an iPhone 4. Please help! This is extremely frustrating.

No, sorry... you did not. There is no iTunes 4.3.5.
What did you actually install? iOS 4.3.5 on your iPhone? If so, this has NO affect on the ability to manually manage media via iTunes.
Let's start over... tell us exactly what has been done.

Gray thumbnails and can't drag and drop clips
I've been using iMovie 11 for a while now, and have accumulated more footage than my Mac HD can hold, so I migrated all my iMovie Events to an external HD. Everything still worked fine for several days after I moved the videos, but then a few days later, when I launched iMovie, all the clip thumbnails (Events and Projects) appear gray, a thumbnail only appearing wherever I leave the mouse, and I cannot drag and drop clips, neither from Events to Project, nor within a Project.
I've searched the web for answers and found things like deleting the cache and thumbnails so that iMovie regenerates them, or deleting the playlist file in the library, but none of these solutions worked.
I am in the middle of a big project so I would appreciate a solution that doesn't involve erasing all my stuff and starting again....The external drive I'm using is a 2TB RAID connected by firewire and it is almost constantly in use, I am always able to access all sorts of files on it, including the videos, so I doubt that would be the problem. Nevertheless, I did as you suggest, but as expected, it made no difference.
In the meantime, I have also created a new iMovie Event and have started re-importing all the videos as a backup solution, but that will take a few days. The new event that I have created so far works normally though, the thumbnails appear and I can drag and drop clips. While I am at it, I will import these videos in to several Events rather than have all that footage in one Event, so if something goes wrong it won't be as problematic and it might even allow the identification of a clip which might be the cause of all this.
So right now I simultaneously have one Event (the new one I just created) which works perfectly, and the older Event which still doesn't work properly. So as a last resort I can probably also create a new Project and try and duplicate as much as possible from the one I am currently working on and hopefully that should work. However, if there is a quicker, less tedious solution, I'll gladly take it. -
Photo problems and can i drag and drop files using windows explorer?
i can only sync photos frm my com to my touch but i cant choose which photos i want and i tried searching for the files in itunes and i cant find them, thus cant delete them...
on top of that, i can access the files in my touch but cant find any option to delete them...
when i go the photos tab in itunes, it only shows me the window to sync files and the 2nd question too...
because when i drag and drop on itunes, it's quite laggy...and if i use windows explorer to drag and drop, will the duplicates on my playlist appear as 2 files or will it be like itunes where it can detect the main file and simply adds it to the list?

sorry for the wall of text...There's no manual mode for photos just different ways to sync but here's a simple "How To" on managing your photos so that it's easy to add and delete what you want on the iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
You can't drag photos or music to the iPod from Windows Explorer, you have to add content through iTunes or you'll not be able to view or play it. -
I am using Mail with OS 10.9.1. I used to be able drag and drop names from my address book into the address header, but can no longer do that. I now have to type each name in. Does anyone know if there is a setting for this or is it a feature of the updated software? Thanks for any info!
Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way. -
Can't drag images from safari into songs as covers anymore
hey i got an issue, i guess it's because of itunes 9.02 because yesterday it worked just fine:
i an album doesn't have a cover art i usually go to google image search, find the cover and then drag it directly to the song.
for example i select all tracks from an album, hit cmd + i, then i drag the cover art from safari to itunes and drop it. until yesterday itunes perfectly took the cover art and applied to the track,
since i downloaded itunes 9.02 it doesn't work anymore.
btw, when i drag the image to some place in the finder and then drag it onto the song it still works.
can anyone confirm that?
Message was edited by: felipe23Same problem. I thought it might have been a Safari security thing until I tried other browsers with the same problem. Like you said... Dragging from the browser to a staging location like the desktop first and then from the desktop to iTunes work just fine. Odd.
I'm looking around for some new iTunes security option. Minor bug but it's really messing with my workflow. -

I have a Windows 7 Professional, 64 bits on my computer and have recently installed iTunes 11.1.3.8. but i started having this msg :"The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permission for this folder" issues: how can i solve it?
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit

Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer. Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro. I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty. Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup

thanks in anticipationI had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result). -
I recently installed iTunes 11.0. Now when I want to sync my iPhone 3GS the software wants to add 256 contacts and 1005 items to my calendar, both on my Windows XP computer. I would assume that these are duplications. Is there some way to fix this? Alternatively, how can I reinstall the previous version of iTunes?
I have already authorized this computer with my Apple ID. I think this only allows me to re-download all purchased applications to the iTunes library again without re-purchasing them. However, iTunes still keeps asking me if I want to "erase and sync" or not.

The other responder gave you a program that will transfer stuff from your iPod to your new computer. You can transfer iTunes purchaces to your new computer by:

After you move your stuff to your new computer you will have to let iTunes erase your iPod and then sync with the stuff that is now in your iTunes library. You will loose app data though. -

160 gb iPod Classic says it must use iTunes 9 or later. 120 gb iPod Classic (wifes) is on 8.0 and doing fine. If I install iTunes 9, will both iPods be o.k.? Will any music be lost? THANKS
You can either burn it to a CD or DVD from within iTunes, or back up the entire iTunes library as you would any other folder.

My new Hotmail address works, and seems to get e-mail from the old e-mail address,
which from I've read behaves as a "default" address for the old address.
Apple Mail is linked to my Hotmail account of the old e-mail address.
I no longer know my old password.
Apple Mail will not accept my new password for ny new Hotmail account.
Can someone help me solve this problem WITOUT COMPLICATED SOLUTION!
As I said I have no idea what a port, or SSL or authentication is!

I want to take a voice memo off my iPhone, turn it into and .mp3, and email it. My iPhone shows up under "Devices" in my iTunes but doesn't allow me to move the voice memo files I see sitting there into my Library no matter how much copying and pasting or dragging and dropping I try to do.
Also, I need to convert the file to an .mp3.
How come no voice memo files show up when I go into my iPhone via My Computer? All it shows are the videos and pictures in the DCIM folder, but not the voice memos. Is there another way to access the voice memos other than through iTunes?Email it to yourself, then save the file and then see if you can convert it to MP3.
