I store a lot of data in my laptop like movies,games and songs,So is a 128GB of SSD in Air enough or should I choose a PRO.?
Yeah, this is a basic doubt of mine opting to join Apple Community by buying a MAC in a near few days.So i need a proper advice.
128 GB is not going to last very long - I suggest you get an external hard drive (1 TB) to store all your movies and other space hogging stuff on it and keep at least 15 GB of your hard drive empty at all times for the OS to perform properly. Count on having +/- 100 GB or so available for the OS, apps, etc.

My iPhone 4s notified me that I had to manage my storage so I deleted apps that used a lot of space I deleted almost all my picture and it still keeps telling me I don't have enough storage is there any other way I can make room on my phone ? Were it shows how much storage I have available it still says 9.9 even after all that I have done so I don't know if I need to change my storage plan or what but anything will help I guess
Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.
Still want more, Restore in iTunes, setup as New. -

That two bills I need my money back to my credit card.
Thank you.You are NOT addressing Apple here at all.
We are all itunes users like you.
There is no phone number to call.
You let your daughter play with your iphone and continue to buy and you think it is somehow Apples fault?
You can set the restrictions that will stop anyone from making these purchases. You have obviously failed to do this. This is your fault. Not Apples. -

Best way to store a LOT of data?
Hi guys,
I have a program which contains two arrays of several objects(ie Objects containing other Objects) which I need to store. The arrays can be anywhere from 1000-7000 objects.
I have used xstream to write this data to disk and I get a file size of about 300mb, which is about 1:1 ratio compared to having the object in memory at runtime.
Does anyone know of any better algorithms to reduce to file size or is this impossible?
Thanks!Alternatively, you could just use a GZip output stream to compress it on the way out. It would slow you down a bit, though.

Example of XStream w/ GZipOutputStream:

I Guess this would apply to the term accessory but can you fix it without deleting data
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours. Also, Apple does not preserve or transfer the data
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more. They say they try to preserve data
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
Can you or do yo have either an iCloud or iTunes backup of your iPod? The backup included apps data and photos/videos in your Camera Roll album.
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
If I erased all data and the games data how I can play with games and i lost my data
Help me please
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad (which will include apps) to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases - you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'Backup' (a backup will include your apps content and settings).
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.

I am really having problem controlling the data usage. It seems that iPhone 5c and 5s both use data when wifi is available. And plus, the data seems to be dumped all at once every 6 hours most of the time. I know I am neither uploading nor downloading 140MB over data at 7am. DOes anyone know how to control this?
I switched off almost all background data usage (except messages). I am not on facebook etc. What is going on?Thanks for trying Jay's suggestion, zole. The iPhone should still be able to use WiFi to send and receive iMessages. By design though, Apple devices will turn off WiFi when the phone goes dormant (screen turns off) so if you are in the midst of downloading something or a new message comes in, the phone will be using the available mobile data by default. You can turn cellular data on or off for individual applications http://vz.to/1IuZJIM instead of completely shutting off the cellular data. In that same section, you can see what applications may be using more cellular data than others to go into that specific app for settings (for example, if Facebook is using a lot of data, go into the application's settings and make sure the video autoplay is turned to WiFi only).

About two weeks ago, my iPad Air was spontaneously signed out of Messages and FaceTime when I was using it to browse the web while on the bus, connected via Personal Hotspot on my iPhone. Since then, I haven’t been able to sign in to either Messages or FaceTime. I can still sign in to my iCloud account as normal for other things like contact and bookmark syncing. It’s just Messages and FaceTime that refuse to activate.
The error messages I receive vary between the following:
“An error occurred during activation. Try again."
“Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
“Verification failed - The connection to iCloud timed out."
“Unable to contact the iMessage server. Try again."
This iPad Air is a replacement from Apple (quite possibly a refurbished one) that I received in November 2014, after the previous model developed a malfunctioning touchscreen in one corner. It’s worth mentioning that my iPhone and Mac are completely unaffected by any issues, and can also be signed in and out of Messages and FaceTime without a hitch.
I’ve tried an awful lot of things in an attempt to get Messages and FaceTime to sign in successfully on the iPad Air, none of which have worked, and many of which I have tried multiple times.[1]
Things I have tried in an attempt to activate Messages and FaceTime
connecting to different wifi in multiple locations (work and home) and Personal Hotspot from iPhone
signing into Messages and FaceTime with different Apple IDs (these won’t activate Messages and FaceTime either)
wiping iPad with normal restore
wiping iPad with DFU restore
resetting network settings (both after fresh install and after backup restore)
restoring from an October 2014 backup (still have to sign into Messages and FaceTime, still don’t work)
turning off the automatic timezone setting and setting the date and time manually, even though it was correct anyway
deselecting phone number and @me.com so purely using @icloud.com to sign in
running the activation process through VPN connections via London and New York
changing DNS on wifi to 8.8.8.8
updating to iOS 8.2 beta 4
I would love to hear from anybody who can provide the solution as to why Messages and FaceTime just won’t activate. Apple won't provide free support on this as the iPad is now out of warranty.

one of my partition is not mounted. I can't mount it, can't repair it. I have a lot of data in this partition, I can't erase it. Please help me.
No way around this. Your phone has to be restored using a computer running iTunes. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

I recently upgraded our family's mac to OS X. I thought this was the perfect time to create and use "user accounts". We had always used 1 main account. So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account? I wanted to be able to manage my own itunes library, iphone apps, messages. But I still really need to use the Stuff I have in Quicken essentials. I don't want to have to restart all my work done in Quicken already.
I haven't used Quicken in a while, but most applications store your files in your Documents folder. Is that where your Quicken data file is? What you do next depends on how many family members need to get at that data.
If multiple family members need to use the Quicken data file, try moving it to the Documents folder in the Shared account. That is an account that all accounts can see. It's at the same level as the other accounts. In other words, Shared is one level up from your Home account, or Hard Drive/Users/Shared.
If you're the only one allowed to see that Quicken data, move the Quicken data file from the old main account to your account, and don't leave a copy behind. You can use the Shared folder as a way station for the transfer since you won't be able to see both accounts' Documents folders at the same time (because you're not allowed to peek into other people's accounts). Or you can use another disk or server for the transfer, as long as you can get to it when logged into either account. -
Theory - Best way to store this type of data for retrieval?
Hi everyone,
So I'm pretty new to databases and I'm trying to figure out an efficient way to retrieve this kind of data:
an ID that is 36 digits long
col1 = {option1, option2, option3...}
col2 = {option1, option2, option3...}
coln = {option1, option2, option3...}
I need to be able to perform queries on the data based on some concatenation of 3 digit sequences for the ID
for example, I may want to retrieve all the records where the ID begins with '123' or where the ID begins with '123123', or '123123200', etc,
There are going to be close to a billion if not more of these records
the 3 digit sequences will always be a number between 000-255
It is not necessary for me to have a 36 digit long ID, I simply chose that because it seemed like the simplest way to associate a record with its combination of 3 digit sequences.
Like I said, I'm very new to databases. I've been doing a lot of reading on indexing and clustering and nested tables and partitions, but I'm not quite sure which of these I should pursue with this kind of data. Most of the examples that I've read about don't really deal about querying with variable precision.
Would the best way to get this data simply be to use an 'is like' statement on the ID? If so, are there any kinds of indexing I should take a look at that would benefit from knowing that the is like statements would follow the format of <3 digits,3 digits,3 digits>? Also, at the data level, would it be more efficient to use hexadecimal to store the sequences of 3 digits since they conviently fall in the range of 00-FF? I'm just throwing ideas out there, I haven't found much help browsing the web, but maybe I haven't looked in the right place. If anyone has any ideas or places to redirect me, it would be great!
Also, I know sometimes it helps to know the main kind of queries on the data that someone is primarily concerned about. In this case, most queries will be selective counts, for example finding the number of records whose ID's begin with '123006011' and col1='option1'.
Thanks,
Alex
Edited by: user9022475 on Jun 23, 2010 9:37 AMSo I'm starting to rewrite my code. I was shocked at how easy it was to implement the SAX parser, but it works great. Now I'm on to doing away with my nasty string arrays.
Of course, the basic layout of the XML is like this:
<result1>
<element1>value</element1>
<element2>value</element2>
</result1>
<result2>
I thought about storing each element/value in a HashMap for each result. This works great for a single result. But what if I have 1000 results? Do I store 1000 HashMaps in an ArrayList (if that's even possible)? Is there a way to define an array of HashMaps? -
Best way to store a lot of image files??
I am working on a new project which involve user upload image to server and then do searching and view image. there will be a lot of image files. image will be displayed in web page as thumbnails, so there may be resized pic stored in server or resize on the fly.
What is the best way to store image like this? as files in file system? database? etc...?
Thank you very muchSince seraching is invloved use a database. A file system is not good place to search in.
Using a database will allow you to store additional data as well such as comments about the images or the ratings given by the users.
Of course you will have to develop a propper table structure for this.
Also do not generate thumbnails all the time instead cache them once they are created. Atleast the thumbnails of the images that are displayed often.
Also store the last updted dates with the images so you can loow the images to be cached by the clients or the proxy server. That will reduce repatitive requests for the same image from same client. -
i have a 2tb time capsule wondering how to store a lot of my files and photos on it to free up some space on my hard drive on my iMac
For iMac please use USB or even better a FW800 or if you can afford it, a thunderbolt drive.. on your 2011 Mac.
Time Capsule is not a suitable place to store your files.
1. You will have no backup.
2. TC cannot back itself up, nor can Time Machine backup network drives.
3. Apple says specifically of iphoto not to store library on network drive.
iphoto network no no.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198
It's recommended that you store your iPhoto library on a locally mounted hard drive. Storing your iPhoto library on a network share can lead to poor performance, data corruption, or data loss.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6692100
4. Other libraries may not corrupt but will run very slowly. iTunes for example.
Please purchase the fastest drive out of the external ports you have available.. usb2 although the slowest is still faster than TC over gigabit. It is also more reliable. TC are not a noted reliable storage drive. It is designed as a backup location for TM files. -
I've recently lost lots of data and purchases due to Iphone 4 crashing... Surely there is a way to recover "lost" music, apps, and audiobooks which I PURCHASED from ITunes in the last 1.5 months...? Greatly appreciate any suggestions or direction in this matter!
Note: Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in Australia, Canada, Cypress, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States."
