I tried to update my iPod and now it won't register on iTunes?

I updated my iTunes to the latest version and then plugged in my iPod and it said an update was available so I downloaded it. iTunes backed up my iPod then prepared to instal the update, but then it wouldn't register my iPod anymore. My iPod just has the connect to iTunes screen, I can't use it at all.
I've tried the steps on the Apple website like turning things off and on, starting iPod in restore mode, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, using a different cord and different USB ports...nothing has worked. My computer makes a sound when I connect it to the computer but my iPod isn't detected at all.
Is there anything else I can do or has my iPod officially died for some reason???

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

Yes, connect to your computer with the latest version of iTunes installed and restore it. If it doesn't show up in iTunes when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

I updated my iTunes and then went to update my iPod to the newer 4.2 version that it kept asking me to and now it says that iTunes cannot connect the iPod. My iPod is now unusbale because the screen on the iPod itself shows that i need to connect it to iTunes, but when I do, there's an error message that pops up telling me that iTunes cannot connect it. I was charging my IPod and I received a message to update it.  Now I can't shut down or turn of my Ipod.  It has the ITunes Icon and the adapter plug on it.  It states I need to restore my IPod, but I could possibly lose all of my data.  I have spent a lot of time and money on itunes and games.  I really don't feel like going throught this again.  I was having problems in December with "The Tribez" game.

  • Updated my ipod and now it won't let me restore my iPod.

My iPod was working fine until I decided to purchase Angry Birds on the AppStore on my iPod Touch 3g. Soon after I hit install the Angry Birds  icon was grey and it wouldnt install, I turned the iPod off and when it turned on it still said "loading" on the little icon. After a little bit the screen went weird and shut off. The Apple logo kept coming up and it wouldn't go away. I looked up that issue and got it fixed, I held down home and then connected it to my computer. I went into iTunes and it told me I needed to update the software in order to restore my iPod. I updated the software and when I clicked restore it would say "Checking restoration with Apple" and it would start to go, the little loading bar comes up under the apple sign like its gonna work and then it disconnects my iPod and it says The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1611). And now under Capacity, Software Version, and Serial Number all show n/a. What happened to my Ipod and can it be fixed?

Hello, Andrea. This is what I just did with my shuffle.
Downloaded the newest updater - I think you were given the URL in the other thread. Then I installed the updater on my hard drive - this involved clicking the Continue button to get through a couple of screens.
Ran the updater. It was in my ' Applications/Utilites/iPod Software Updater.localized ' folder. I double clicked the icon for iPod Updater 2005-11-17.
Two screens came up, overlaid. The topmost was an information screen saying which software is in the updater. I quit that window. The window behind it was the application. Across the top it says to insert an iPod.
I plugged my shuffle in. The updater recognized my serial number and said the software needs updating. Since you said the program wouldn't allow you to choose Update, I did it to check. The software updated just fine. (Be sure to eject the shuffle once the Updater has gone through and finished its job.)
Right now iTunes is putting songs back on the shuffle.
Since the Updater doesn't have Continue buttons, I wonder if you only got as far as putting the Updater on your hard drive and haven't yet updated the shuffle?
    Good luck

  • IPhone4S: tried to update to iOS6 and now will only show "connect to iTunes" screen

I've got an iPhone4S and tried to update to iOS6 via iTunes.  While installing, a message came up on my computer saying that "iOS6 could not be installed due to an unknown reason" (I'm paraphrasing b/c I didn't write it down, figuring that I could just re-do it).  Ever since that message came up, neither iTunes or my computer recognizes that the phone is plugged in.  Also the phone sceen is stuck on the "connect to iTunes" screen, which displays the USB cable with an arrow pointing to an iTunes logo.  I've done the 10 seconds reset, updated iTunes, etc., and everything else that the iPhone troubleshooting suggests.  Nothing is working, and my phone is totally un-usable.  PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!

1)I tried tinyumbrella. But it stills stucks in Recorvery Loop.
2)Tried also using DFU mode buty tinyumbrella isn't detecting the device in DFU mode.
3)I also tried iRecovery and results are same.
4)Is there anyother way to break the recovery loop as i don't have any backup for my device.

  • Updated to ios6 and now iPhone4 won't connect to itunes

I recently updated my iPhone 4 to ios6, and now when I connect to itunes it says ,"The iPhone “_____’s iPhone” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
My itunes is currently 10.6 (40), and when I check if theres an update it says, "This version of iTunes (10.6) is the current version."
I have a 13" white macbook (I don't think apple sells it anymore). Software: Mac OS X Version 10.5.8.
According to my software update, it is currently up to date ("Software Update doesn’t have any new software for your computer at this time.")
I tried downloading itunes 7, but says I can't ("This software requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later.")
How much would the software update to 10.6.8 cost? And what are the steps to doing it?
    Thank you.

No - I updated my iphone last week to ios 6 and now when I use my phone in my car to listen to my music on the iphone it says 'no directory...'.  I tried another iphone, just updated, and it said the same thing - then I asked if I could use a iPod, it's the old version ios 5 and it worked fine.

  • I updated my iPod and now it won't download any apps?

Soo I wanted to get more out of my iPod so I formatted it. (YIKES!)
Anyway, thee iPod was formatted without backup and then I realized, after adding 300 songs and 19 app, that my two favorite apps, iBooks and Temple Run, weren't installing! Why, because they woudln't donwload , either!
Now, I merely FORMATTED it, I in no way DOWNGRADED my iPod itself. Yet, suddenly, it's telling me I need to upgrade my iOS in order to get this app. My ipod is 4.2.1, and I'm getting fed up with this kind of service from Apple.
So, if you have a solution to this problem, can you please help me? I just want my iBooks and Temple Run back! ALSO:: I used to have 5 different Audible account's files on my iPod, now I can only have 2 There goes $75 worth of audiobooks from my iPod! Is there any way I can get those back as well? I REALLY want them!
Again, any solution you have is great! I'm hoping, more than anything, for someone to help me totally roll back my iPod to three hours ago, before the formatting. However, I'll take whatever help you can offer me!
    Thanks in adance!
    Bailey
Oh, and another thing!!! I will, if it's the last hope, jailbreak my iPod. How to? And what is the best way to go? Someone help point me in the right direction, if you have no other possilbe solutions! Thanks again!

Uhless this program will get the iPod out of recovery mode you will have to restore via iTunes.

I tried to restore my ipod touch 2nd generation  and now it won't sync to itunes.    On the screen is the USB end of the cord and the iTunes logo over it.
I have turned it off and on,  held the off button down and  the select button down but it still comes up with that picture on the screen.    Have I broken it?
    Please help.

It means the device is in recovery mode.  You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.
