I am getting the same error message: "The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk." I don't have a TC but rather an external drive, which is twice the size of my harddisc, and it still has plenty of free space. The problem has lasted for 5 days. I even used a different external drive -- still same error message. Needless to say that I have run Disc Utility several times. Can anybody help? Thanks
I am having issues with some USB drives on Mountain Lion.. work perfectly on another computer with Snow Leopard.. not even recognised by ML.
    Is the disk recognised?
If so and TM cannot pick it up.. do a full reset of TM and try again.

  • The problem may be temporary. Try again later to back up. If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk. Have tried disk utility to repair but still not working.

My time machine backup has failed for the last couple of days. Im getting the message saying," error.  this may be temporary, if the problem persists, go to disc utility to repair the problem."
I have done the first aid in the disc utility  and still not repaired. Do I erase the disc, as it says????

    1. Reboot the TC alone.. Just pull out the power cord.. count to 10 and plug it back in.
If TM still cannot find the disk..
    2. Do a full network reboot.. everything off.. restart in correct order.. modem.. wait 2min.. TC wait 2min.. then all the clients..
If TM still cannot find the disk..
    3. Factory reset the TC and do a fresh configuration. The TC is known to occasionally throw a wobbly and spontaneously forget its name.. part of old age.. (2years is starting towards old age for a TC).
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
If TM still cannot find the disk..
    4. Wipe the old backup.. and start afresh.. this sometimes also happens.
You can try a verify of the disk. See A5 here.

Sometimes a clean fresh TM backup is the only way.
    Good luck.

Desperate nothing I have tried works! Help!

I fought the same problem for a week.  First I read and attempted the fixes that worked for others to no avail.  The I got on the phone with Apple, and they suggested some of the same fixes, but not as thorough as this forum.  In this process, I fully restored the ATV2 twice via iTunes, unplugged it untold number of times, changed the Dolby setting, changed the HDMI cable, changed the HDMI out setting, tried a different HDMI input on the TV, and generally banged my head against the wall.  Ran speed tests from my PC through ISP and was getting 7+ Mbps download speed.  Failed to mention I am using a wired ethernet connection to the ATV2, not a wireless, but in the testing I connected it to the wireless newtork instead to see if that helped but it did not.  After all this, still got the error loading content if I tried to watch a Netflix video, tried to send a video to Apple TV from my iPad2, or tried to watch a video (HD or SD) from already downloaded to my shared iTunes.
So I went to the local Genius Bar, laid it all out, and without any additional discussion, they gave me another ATV2.  Brought it home, set it up. SAME PROBLEM.  Repeated all the steps above, no help.  Then I noticed the 10/100 5 port ethernet switch I had in the cabinet sending internet to a variety of devices, including the ATV2.  I disconnected the feed from the switch and plugged it directly into the ATV2, and without even unplugging/rebooting the ATV2 the problem went away.  Everything worked. Despite my speed from the ISP, the switch between the router and the ATV2 was slowing it down too much.  So why didn't the wireless work?Well the wireless access point I was using in the living room was feeding off the same switch.
    Hope this helps.

  • I keep getting this message: "The back up was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk. The problem may be tempory. Try again later to back up.  If the problem persists, use Disk Utility to repair your backup disk."

I've repeatedly "tried again" over the past month with no luck.  I'd rather not delete everything if that's what "repairing" the back disk involves.

On a time capsule the error message is meaningless. That would only apply to an external drive...TC is a network drive.
I recommend you just reboot the whole network.. from off..
Restart in order.. modem.. TC.. clients. Wait 2 min between each one.
If the disk still won't mount give us more info..
Are you using wireless or ethernet?
    How is the TC configured?
    What sort of internet?

  • "an error ocurred loading this content"

Constantly recurring message when I am attempting to play a playlist from iTunes Match. The tune plays for about 40 seconds then reverts to the above message. When I hit the menu button I am right back with the playlist. Can I get a discount for the money I spent for iTunes Match--it ain't working.

I'm having the same problem just streaming my music to the TV via Apple TV but I don't have iTunes Match.  Others are having the same issue it seems.

  • I've rented several movies over AppleTV, but can not download. I get a message "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later. " i've been trying for 3 days now... anyone with similar problem?

I've rented several movies over AppleTV, but can not download. I get a message "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later. " i've been trying for 3 days now... anyone with similar problem?

I have the same issue, to temporarily fix it go to Settings > General > Restart.  When it restarts the movie should play.  You have to do this for each movie for the most part.

  • Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later."

Can't play rented movies.  They appear to download OK and the timer accurately reports days remaining to watch.  But whenever I try to play the movie I get this message, "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later.". Have been using the Apple TV for 2 weeks and everything else seems to work OK.  The Apple TV reports its SW is up to date.  I've tried this with two movies rented frim iTunes directly from the Apple TV.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

  • Purchased a movie.  Trying to watch it through Apple TV.    Receiving error "An error occurred loading this content.  Try again later."  I have tried to play the movie several times but still get the same message.

I purchased a movie using Apple TV.  I keep receiving the same error message "An error occurred loading this content"

There may be network issues or issues with Apple's servers.
Personally I would unplug and restart AppleTV.  If there are still problems and you can access the iTunes store sections to browse I would contact itunes store support.

  • TS3297 I paused my movie download. When I tried to start it again, I received 'An error occurred loading this content. Try again later' I was already halfway through the movie

I have apple TV. I paused my rental and then when I went to start it again, it said 'An error occurred loading this content. Try again later.
I have tried many times since. I have nothing.

  • Rented movies on ATV2, can't play- An error occurred  loading this content.

When I attempt to play the two movies on ATV (Gen 2) I rented, I receive the error:
An error occurred loading this content. Try again later.
No other messages display, and it is not clear what to do next, or how to fix this issue.
I tried the following to solve:
    - latest updates for ATV (I'm on version 4.2.1(2100))
    - unplugging power, then plugging back in
    - stop "Home Share" on ATV, then turn back on
    - log out of iTunes account on ATV, then log back in
    I've yet to try:
    - reset on the ATV (on the General menu)
    - setting back to factory defaults (on the General menu)
I have not tried the above two, since the ATV is 2 days old and honestly did not think I needed to do this.
I have two Windows computers, one with Vista, one with version 7. Both have iTunes 10.2.1.1 installed. I have iTunes "Home Sharing on" for both computers, including the ATV. I can see my iTunes library on the ATV and play music; I can also play iTunes radio just fine with the ATV. I've been able to access my NetFlix account and stream movies just fine with NetFlix.
I was able to purchse the movies, but not able to play on the ATV; thus, I seem to be able to get to iTunes since I could at least rent movies.
Is there anything major to double check to make sure I've set everything up right? The book that came with ATV looked pretty plug-n-play, but I cannot get this to work (playing videos). I also have an iPhone that I just purchased- I've plugged this into the Vista computer to do sync's and get updates, but don't have it plugged in on a reqular basis.
What am I missing to try and troubleshoot?
    Thanks much!

I bought apple tv a few weeks ago. It worked to start with but was very slow and not really usable as when you picked a movie it would take anything from 20 mins to 6 hours to start. I assumed it would to memory but it doesn't so you have to sit and wait for it to start which renders it completely useless.
Then came a software update about a week ago. Since then it no longer loads rented movies. After I have paid for the movie it says press play. After that it says "unable to load content, try later"
I emailed apple support. They dont know what the problem is so they refunded my money and removed the films from my apple tv.
Apple also asked questions About my iTunes version etc which is completely stupid as this has nothing to do with itunes as apple tv is 100% independant and designed as a stand alone device.
My advise- I will get a refund and use the money to buy apple tv 1 from ebay as it has a hard drive and loads movies in the background rather than using a stream.

  • TS1424 I try to order a movie. I recieve this "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later."

  • How do I request a refund for a movie after receiving the "An error occurred loading this content. try again later." error?

I watched the first 11 minutes of a movie, paused and then when I tried to play again recieved the error - An error occurred loading this content. try again later.  No amount of retrying later fixed the problem.  I will not be able to finish watching the movie within the required 24hour window so would like to request a refund.  Can anyone provide any guidance on how I go about that?  Thanks.

My ATV keeps telling me...  "an error occured loading this content"  I have tried playing this movie i downladed for 2 days how long will it take?  Why after resetting the ATV is it still not working...?

Did you try unplugging the power cord for a few seconds, then plugging it back in? That usually fixes similar problems for me.
