I Tunes and Quick Time wont open in Windows XP

ITunes has encountered a problem and needs to close sorry for the inconvenience
I receive this message when trying to open ITunes or Quick Time. Windows XP references an error message in the below directory but I cant find the file
C:\DOCUME~1\OWNER~1.YOU\LOCALS~1\Temp\e435_appcompat.txt
What is the fix for this? I've tried several things and none of them have worked.

Is uninstalling both applications and then re-installing them an option for you? if yes then that is probably the quickest way to restore them to functionality.

I tried all the fixes (uninstal completely) I've tried installing Quicktime standalone, same error.
One day my computer installed some windows updates. next time i tried i tunes, it said it couldnt' find RICHED20.dll.
Tried removing the updates. then tried removing/reinstalling itunes. Everytime I try to run the install package I get "error with package 2378". I tried restoring my system to before the windows updates. No luck.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

i just downloaded the latest version of quick time for windows 7 and just before the installation wizard finishes the installation , the installation dais giving a message that tells me that the installation stop because of an 32 bit error ,
when i click on finish it gives me an quick time.exe file and when i am tring to open it it gives me this massage "please install apple application support"

Most Things Were Meant To Run On A 32-Bit Operating System And It Might Be Your Getting An Error Because Windows 7 64-Bit Edition Does Not Fully Support 64-Bit Operating Systems In Windows .If You Have Enough Space On Your Computer,There Is One Way You Can Fix This.Try Using VM-WARE And Install A Clean Version Of Windows 7 32-Bit And Give The Virtual Machine A Good Amount Of Ram,Install The VMWARE Additions.After That,Activate Unity Mode And That Should Give You A Nice GUI

When updating ICloud Control, I Tunes and Quick Time, they all get hung up. I have tried downloading each separately, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and I still have the same issue every time I need to do an update.

I'm hoping someone can talk me through this issue; I have not updated in over a year! I am using a Windows 7

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

It doesn't matter what site I open either. It immediately stops responding to my clicking and soon gives me the "Not responding" deal. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it and the same problem occured

That one is often a compatibility mode problem. Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

ITunes not running after Safari and Quick Time update

HELP NEEDED!!After updating to the latest version of Safari and Quick Time, i got this error message the next time I started my computer:
"AppSyncNotifier.exe: The program can't start because CoreCoundation.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I tried to open iTunes but I can't. I tried to uninstall so I can reinstall but it I got another error message that said I do not have the rights to uninstall, etc. I am the only user of this computer and I have admin rights. This PC used to run on vista but I recently upgraded to Windows 7(x64) and I encoutered the same problem - i could not uninstall/reinstall iTunes because "I do not have permission"

Thanks again b noir. Unfortunately, this suggestion did not work. When I did what you said, there was no option to "remove". I see the iTunes thing on my control panel-programs window, but it's no longer in the program (x86) folder on the c:/drive. iTunes on my computer is like gum stuck to my shoe. same goes for bonjour. Please be patient some more. Do you have any more suggestions?? I'm planning to get me an iPad but if I can't get iTunes to run properly on my computer I'm having second thoughts about it now.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Seems like ios6 isn't any good for any of their devices. I have an iPhone 4 and recently updated to ios6 and have had all the wifi problems and apps getting hung up on load screens. Restore is your best bet and downgrade if you can back to ios 5.1. If restore doesn't help with a fresh install of ios6 then call every Apple support number you can find and be heard like the 1,000s of other people like us with ios6 problems demanding support. There doesn't seem to be any quick fixes for ios6 other than an update from Apple.

What QT player are you using and shat forms of compressed data does the AVI file contain?
AVI is a legacy file container type abandoned by Microsoft a dozen years ago in favor of development of its newer, proprietary Windows Media product. While the AVI file container is still supported by all QT players, the codecs used to encode the data contained in the file are, for the most part not supported by QT X player and may require the installation of third-party codecs for use with the QT 7 player. Basically, you have three options here:
You can use the QT 7 player with additional codecs (if available) to play the content.
You can use a third-party player like VLC or NicePlayer with built-in codec support to player the files.
Or you can use an app like HandBrake to convert the AVI files to MPEG-4 or MPEG-4 AVC files compatible with all current QT/QL/IOS players.
