If it has been Disabled after entering the wrong passcode - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
Unfortunately, you must restore it in iTunes on your computer. There is no way to retrieve a forgotten pass lock code.
You will need to Restore your device from the same computer that you most recently synced to. See - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.

If you're able to contact the person who set the lock, send them this link and tell them to follow its instructions.
If not, you can't activate the device but may be able to get it refunded. Apple won't remove the lock for anyone other than the original owner(assuming they're alive.)

I have explored the suggested solution pages but if the answer was there I did not understand it. I have clicked on the cog at the top right hand corner of the page and changed from Enhanced to Classic, but that did not give me my 9 tiles back. If you want to be able to track your iOS devices, turn on Find My iPhone in Settings>iCloud. You don't need to do anything on your Mac. You can track them from your Mac by going to icloud.com, signing into the iCloud account that the device(s) you want to track are using, then clicking on Find My iPhone.
As fromsouth said, you can also download a separate Find My iPhone app on any of your iOS devices. This allows any device to track the other devices. This is separate from enabling Find My iPhone on your devices, which is done in your device settings. -

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

I lost my ipod. Found it using "find my iphone" but had already "locked" it remotely. THe instructions I read indicate d I'd receive an email from Find My Iphone App with the unlock code...I never received this message/code. THe screen message says "ipod isdisabled: connect to itunes" I've tried to backup and restore, have tried to wipe it remotely using "find my iphone' and have followed the instructions on apple support to enable...none of these have been successful. Basically the ipod is in locked mode and will not resond. When I tried to restore it using itunes, a message indicating that it could be neither restored nor backed up because it was locked with a passcode...anyone else had this problem and what is the fix? THansk!
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
