i'm sorry .i worded it wrong.i had 3.5 originally.(computer hadn't been online in at least 6 months.next time i got online it updated to 3.6.4 beta ok i understand beta.itsstill technically 3.6 version basically.i began having hangups,and firefox crashes.found it was firefox plug-in-container.exe so removed firefox.back to cnet got 3.6.3 no beta either still same probs.today it updated to 3.6.4 this time it doesn't say beta yet i'm still getting the crashes .i thought they new about the java 1.18 buggy version i read in the forum when i began having trouible.i see they fied to java 1.20 i got my adobe 10.1 update just lost on how to stop this.i HATE microsloth and bing and ie but i don't like this problem.thanks for your patience

Adobe does not require a password to download the Flash installer. Generally speaking passwords are not required to download software, unless you must register with the website so as to log in. In that case you should never use the same name and password you use to administer your Mac.

I am totally frustrated with Firefox and would like to know how to uninstall it. I am getting obscene pop-ups, and when I ask for specific information, other unrelated information pops us. I have had this for one day and don't like it.

Additionally, I cannot find my address book listed on any toolbar. I also put in the address for a site that I have previously gone to and get a page that says that the address can't be found. The address is that of a library. I am not pleased.
I currently have a pop-up from Wal-Mart that I cannot exit. It will NOT disappear no matter what I click. I will have to close down the computer totally to get rid of it.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

FYI The latest update wipe out my Windows user info resulting in a locked computer. had to restart in safe mode and restore my system. Basiclly it killed my whole computer. If I was not a programmer , fixing it would have been nearly impossible.

The new apple itunes update . corrupted or deleted my user profile in Windows 7 home premium.resulting in a locked computer with no way of getting into windows.

Never heard of that happening before and given the way the OS works that should not be possible. Sounds like something was awry with your computer before you started the process.
What program did you write to fix it and in what language? You might want to share this with Microsoft so they can look into it further.

HT1212 I updated the software this morning to os7 and it never asked for a passcode, however, to use it now I need a passcode. I do not know what it is, so my phone is now disabled. Solution?

This morning the phone said new software was available so I downloaded and upgraded my system to os7. During startup it requested an icloud password, but never any other passowrd. So imagine my surprise when I tried to sue the phone and it was disabled because it would not take the icloud passcode. How do I get my phone working again?

I have the same issue: FireFox is not showing all images on the page.
Noticed this in FireFox 5.0. Now I installed FireFox 5.0.1 and still have the same issue.
The missing images do not even appear in Tools > Page Info > Media.
The images are usually accessed using DIV tag with a CSS class which contains background-image style. Often, when page opens, the DIV is initially hidden, and JavaScript displays it. Sometimes, jQuery.html() adds such DIV tags, and images rarely appear. Sometimes they do, but more often they do not.
If I install FireBug and use Inspect Element to find such a DIV, it is there, it contains the CSS class, the definition of the CSS class contains background-image style. If I click the icon to disable this style, and then click it again to enable it, the image immediately shows up.
Seems to be caused by some optimization which does not detect images like these.

Thank you for the help. Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID. I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone. In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one. My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID. Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

Yes, you can delete them from your phone by tapping the icon until it jiggles, then tap the black x. You can verify that your Apple ID is still correct for future purchased by going to Settings>Store>Apple ID (at the bottom). If it's wrong, tap the ID shown, sign out, sign back in using your ID. Then you should be good to go.

when it show a cloud to the right then it's not on your device
it mean that it's tied to y our iCloud account and can be redownloaded should you wish to
if you buy other music from iTunes and don't want it on the iOS device anymore because you transferred to your computer
and wish to add other music then that too will show with the cloud it mean that should you wish you can get it downloaded again free
it's pretty much the same deal in app store app where you can click on purchases and access all apps tied to your appleID

Examples of publicized data breaches that would have been prevented by available Java, Adobe or Windows Updates?

I'm looking for some examples of data breaches that specifically would have been prevented if the Windows workstations or laptops were up to date with patches (Windows Update, Java, Adobe etc.). An example where, if the affected Windows PCs had been
patched with the most current Windows and application security updates and a/v definitions available on the date of the exploit, the breach would have been prevented.
I can't find any recent examples in news stories I can find on the web.
Does anyone have links to any examples that are from the last 5 years or newer?

According to the explanation, this security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in the Microsoft Secure Channel (Schannel) security package in Windows. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if an attacker sends specially crafted
packets to a Windows server.
Most critical Windows Update for vulnerability has its own explanation in a Microsoft Security Bulletin, just as the example I provided.
But if you want a specific example, I’m afraid that it will be a little difficult to find one since we don’t have a direction.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings. Hope you have a backup.
Follow the instructions in iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.

It rather depends on where you are seeing the demand for a passcode. If, as I assumed, you are trying to change the password at http://appleid/apple.com then that will ask for a passcode if 2-step verification has been set up. On the other hand, if, as Csound1 has assumed, you have changed the password on that website and are trying to enter it in your phone (for which you need to sign out completely before you can do this) and are being asked for a passcode that can only be one you set yourself (unless of course the phone is second-hand in which case that would open a whole new can of worms).

Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.
