I've had three laptops all connected to my itunes account, one was stolen, the other broke, how can I remove them from my itunes account?
So, in three years, after getting an iphone and an apple account I've had to replace a laptop twice due to theft or damage. When I link my phone to my new computer, it asks me if I want to connect the computer with the phone and I say yes, but you can only have 5 devices connected to one account, since one was stolen, and the other laptop broke, how do I remove them from my account??
De-authorise all, then authorise the one you still have.

I tried to back up all of my devices before making the update to 7.0.6.
My iPad was ejected and iTunes told me that it couldn't be updated due to some error (this was yesterday). Then when I plugged it back in, it said I needed to restore my iPad, and I couldn't get to the home screen or anything, it just showed a "Connect to iTunes" icon. So it restored a really early version (with notes from last semester but not from this semester), even though I'm sure I've backed it up at least twice since I got it (1-13-14).
I got onto the Cloud and downloaded some important lecture notes before performing the update just to make sure that they would all be up to date, but those are on my computer, which I am currently not at, so I can't download them. I saw that my iPad was syncing with my Cloud, so my college notes were all showing up, and I didn't stick around to make sure that the current ones showed up (but they're on my cloud, so wouldn't they?).
Also, I use Branchfire's iAnnotate PDF, and all of my highlighted articles for research papers and summaries are gone. I'm missing important articles that had notes for two seminars, and they're all gone. I'm confident I can recover things from the cloud, but iAnnotate doesn't use the cloud. Is there a way to find those again?
What I'm curious about right now is if there's a way to download from the Cloud to my iPad, because that's where my notes are.
Does the cloud sync FROM my iPad? As in, if it isn't on my iPad will it delete documents from my Cloud? Or if it's in the Cloud, will it sync to my iPad if it's absent here?
This is really frustrating, especially because I TRIED to back everything up just to be safe. I tried everything, and I still lost all of my important files. This is beyond frustrating, it's devastating. This is unacceptable.There are some recovery programs out there if you google them - many with free trials. I haven't tried them so I have no opinion.Read any professional tech and user reviews you can find before you try one. I have read here in the past that some have worked for people who have posted here.
To help in the future, have you considered using Jump Desktop - Remote Desktop? I know it won't solve the problem you're dealing with now (unless notes were taken on your computer.) It's in the app store. It's the #1 paid app in the business category and the reviews are great. It allows you to see anything that's on your computer on your ipad. If you take your notes on your ipad then you might want to email them to yourself, put them on Word in your computer, for example, and then if you need them in class, you remotely connect your ipad to your computer and you will see your notes. This way you won't have to rely so much on the cloud. The explanation would be too long here, but you might want to take a look at it. You can use the free trial on jumpdesk.com and then if it works for you, buy it in the app store.
Meanwhile, it's hours since you sent this post. Hopefully others who can help solve your problem who are on this forum now can help you. I hope you get your notes back. Don't give up too quickly.

If both phones were syncing contacts with the same account, that's normal. iCloud syncs changes on one devices to all other devices sharing the account.
If you don't have another backup source for your contacts, you may be able to restore them from your iCloud backup by following Winston Churchill's user tip here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841. -
my 160gb ipod just deleted its whole contents and keeps error-ing when i try to upload more songs to it! is there some way i can get them back, i dont have 2/3 of them stored as backup! hellpppppp!?!

You remove photos that were placed on your computer via an iTunes sync by syncing again. When you sync again, after connecting the phone to iTunes, remove the checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" on the Photos page of iTunes if you want to remove all previously synced photos or change the selection of folders/albums to be synced if you only want to remove some. Had to buy a new PC as the hard disk of the old one broke and lost all purchases, but still have them on the iPhone. How can I sync them back to the new PC in iTunes without losing them?
You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

i was backing up my iPhone and importing photos onto iPhoto at the same time , then suddenly it says no more space available (i had 48GB before i do this and now i have 18GB) i can't find the back up or the photo anywhere , how can i delete them ? i dont need the pictures or the back ups , i want to delete them but they are not there
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal. -

How can I export songs from my iTunes to a mail program/computer? The songs in question are originals composed by my boyfriend in Garage Band. We have full rights to them, but they import into iTunes like all the other artists songs. His hard drive crashed and I have the only copies. I have no access to my iMac for 2 months while we tour our show and we need them on the tour. We are in dire straights if we can not access these songs and the iPad will not hook up to our equipment. Plus we need to add a track to a promotional video. So how can we access our own music?

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

how can i remove pictures from my droid turbo without having to use the touch screen on the phone at all? my screen is cracked and i am waiting on a replacement phone. as far as i can tell in order to access the phone storage through my computer, i have to use the touchscreen to enable it so that the computer will see it as a camera. I can't do that as the top half of the touschscreen is unresponsive. any suggestions? teaches me to use the backup services offered in the future, but i still need a short term solution for this time.
I'm sorry to hear your screen is cracked spence425. I know its difficult to use the phone while its damaged. I'm happy you are receiving a replacement device. Unfortunately, you will be unable to remove any data from the phone if the screen is unresponsive but if you are looking to transfer data to your new phone, it would have needed to be saved via the cloud first. Add another e-mail account to your messages, so people could reach you on that e-mail from messages. As soon as you are online (if you have wifi only iPad) you are able to send and receive messages. i.e. your son can send you a messages from his iPhone addressing it to your (that additional) e-mail address.
