I want to edit a home video on IPad

My Father used his camera to film our wedding and we received the audio from the sound guy. I want to put the two together. And then use bits of it in a slide show. I have converted the DVD to an MP4. I have used iTunes to put the video to on my iPad. The video ends up in home videos were I am unable to edit them. I have looked in iTunes on my PC to try and find the app iMovie on my iPad while the USB is connected to the PC. But the app iMovie is not there.
I have many videos I want to put in slideshows for a quick few of wedding and honeymoon. I am seeing that many individuals have the same question and I am thinking that I am trying to drive through a dead end. Anybody?

I apologies. I was under the assumption that others reading my question would think if I was talking about iMovie I have it on my iPad and I never clarified thank you for pointing that out. I do have iMovie and had iMovie the whole time in my attempts including the one where I looked through iTunes in my PC while my iPad was hooked up via USB , was in my iPads apps looking at the list and iMovie was not one of the listed. But even if it was how is this going to help me?

  • Edit simple home video

Hi. I have a lot of family videos that need to be trimmed. Scenes where the camera is vertical for 10 seconds before it is changed, or staying on one shot too long. I don't to make a movie yet, with several clips, I simply want to trim the clips I have to save storage room. Do I need FCE? Or is there something more simplistic to accomplish what I want to do? Freeware or Shareware? My Canon Elph shoots AVI video. This is what I want to edit, just snip ends or beginnings of a clip. Is there something like a Photoshop, where I can edit and then save and it is saved in the edited form? I am upgrading to Leopard and iLife08 soon. So, I will be working with that system. Thanks for the information. -Tim

Hi- I am not sure about all the specs, since I am a novice, but here is the camera Canon 870 IS
    www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=1 5655#ModelTechSpecsAct
I think in answer to your question, it is 640x480 30 fps. Movie: AVI (Image: Motion JPEG; Audio: WAVE [Monaural])
?? Again, I am a beginner. Does any of the above help?

  • How do i transfer home video to ipad. for video or is it purely clips

Is there any storage capacity for video or is it purely clips.
My camera is a Sony DCR-SR37 HDD

If you convert video to an iPad playable format, you can put whatever home videos you want on it.
Handbrake is a good video converter that will convert movies to iPad playable format.

  • Editing imported SD videos on iPad Air

    Hello there,
I am new to the iPad Air and had the idea of transferring videos from an old camera via SD card reader, but wanted to find some way of editing the videos. I rely on YouTube capture for editing and uploading my videos onto YouTube. But for some odd reason I don't have the choice to edit my imported videos but can edit my ios videos, found this slightly frustrating... If there's any way possible to edit my imported videos on an iPad I would highly appreciate some spare assistance.
    SIncerely, Henry David Tetreault

I don't have any to recommend, but look for third party video editing apps.
Just search the app store for 'video editing' and then read the reviews to see which ones look good. SInce I doubt any are free, read the reviews, even google the app to see what others are saying about it (the blurb in iTunes, not surprisingly, always focuses on the good and ideal situations, which may not reflect the reality of using the app)

  • Choppy home video on iPad & iPod Video, but not iPod Touch

I'm trying to create a simple 3-minute home video with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0 on my HP Pavilion desktop PC running Vista. I render the edited video as an MP4 file. If I double-click the file, it opens in QuickTime player and plays just fine. If I add it to iTunes, it plays in the iTunes player just fine. If I synch it to my 32Gig iPod touch - just fine.
But on my 2nd Gen 80Gig iPod Video, the video is VERY choppy - one frame every half second or so. On the iPad it's better - but there are a bunch of square artifacts in the frame whenever there's movement in the frame, like swinging your arm from side to side. Is there some way I can... OPTIMIZE this video for the iPad? It'd be a really impressive way of showing off the video. I could burn the video to a DVD and show it on a TV, but the iPad is obviously more portable.
Any advice? Any questions about how I'm rendering the video?
    Dennis

  • Cant watch itunes home videos on ipad

How do I view my uploaded itunes "home videos" on my ipad?  os 10.10.1 and os 8.1.1

    If you have :
    - home sharing enabled on your Mac's iTunes (File > Home Sharing ; and check what is being shared in the Sharing tab in iTunes > Preferences)
    - home sharing enabled on your iPad with the same account (Settings > Videos or Settings > Music)
    - both the Mac and your iPad connected to the same network and,
    - iTunes is open on your Mac
then you should get a 'Shared' tab at the top of the Videos app which will allow you to select your Mac's iTunes videos. All your Mac's Movies (so actual films as well as home videos) will probably be shown on the same screen on your iPad, mine doesn't distinguish between type of 'film'. Not sure whether it's just my library, but I don't get cover art showing for all of my shared videos on my iPad.

  • Can't sync home videos to iPad "itunes 11"

Since updating to iTunes 11 I can't sync any of my home videos from my Win 7 PC to my iPad 3.
    1. I created them as MP4's.
    2. They import to iTunes music folder fine.
    3. They show in iTunes under home videos.
    4. No error during or after sync, but the videos are not there on the iPad. Videos I put on the iPad before iTunes 11 are there (under movies, not home video) and play fine. But if I delete it from the iPad and then try to put it back it is ignored and will not go back onto the iPad.
This worked fine before iTunes 11.

I also found, finally, that selecting "manually manage" for the device on the summary page in iTunes for the helped.

  • I cannot transfer large home videos from iPad to Windows XP

I have tried third party apps, copy and paste. Cannot get my home videos to transfer to my PC.

I am new to Apple products. This is very confusing to me. I can see my iPad in divices under camera and scanners. When I click on the icon I only have a few choices for transfering. For small videos I can use Scanner and Camera Wizzard with no problems. Anything over 500mb will not transfer. I have also tried PhotoSync, but I cannot get a connection. I have tried to drag and drop, copy and paste. I called Apple support and they had no solution. I just know there has to be a way to get my home videos from the iPad to my PC Windows XP Pro.

  • Import home video Onto iPad

I am using a Sony DSC HX5 shooting movies in mp4 but they will not import to my iPad using camera connector. I am using the sd card in the convertor.
    What am I doing wrong?
I can import the movies onto iphotos in my mac book so I assume they are the correct format

According to your cameras specs-it shoots 1080i/720p video at 60 frames per second.
Ipad only accepts 720p video with 30fps.
You will need to convert the video-follow the steps above poster put up or research some better conversion software(mpeg streamclip, videomonkey, handbrake).

  • Shot video/Android Smartphone. Want to edit/Youtube. Can Premiere Edit?

Shot video on Android Smartphone. Can't view on MS Windows 8. MS store says you can't play back a Android video on Windows 8. Seems rediculous in this day and age. Want to edit for Youtube video. Does Premiere Pro CC handle this? JR

I am only another user, but from reading a LOT of forum messages...
Premiere is designed to work with "real" video from a "real" camera... editing telephone video is very much in the "added... might work, might not work well" category
3gp is listed as a supported format (The PPro tutorial list in message #3 http://forums.adobe.com/message/2276578 has a link to the user guide PDF to download for easy searching) but that does not always mean that it will edit "easily or very well" in actual practice... especially of your specific cell phone video uses a variable frame rate (the iphone uses vfr and does NOT edit in Premiere without extra work)
Try with your specific video and see what happens

  • Import home video DVD's into iMovie

I want to import my home video DVD's into iMovie for editing and backup. What is the best way to do this? I have already tried creating a disk image, but somehow when I open these images with iMovie, some parts of the original video are missing. (for example the video on DVD is 60 minutes, but the video opened on iMovie is 50 minutes). I also tried to convert to MPEG 2 using MPEG Streamclip, and purchased the MPEG2 Playback component from Apple Store, but it turns out that this component was intended for earlier versions of OS X, so I could not even install it. I am currently at a lockdown, please help me out!!!

There are directions on the MPEG Streamclip website on how to get the MPEG2 Playback component installed on your computer (I'm assuming your running Mac OS X 10.7). I'm cutting and pasting them here in case someone else runs into the same problems.
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.
Also read the information for Snow Leopard below.
Snow Leopard and MPEG-2 Playback Component
The Snow Leopard upgrade DVD released on August 28, 2009 may wipe the content of the /System/Library/QuickTime folder during the upgrade process, and delete your MPEG-2 Playback Component installed in that folder. To use MPEG-2 files with MPEG Streamclip you have to reinstall the MPEG-2 component or restore it from a backup copy.
If you are going to upgrade to Snow Leopard
Open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder and drag the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file to your desktop to make a copy of it. Then upgrade to Snow Leopard. When the upgrade is complete, open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder again and move the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file from the desktop to the /System/Library/QuickTime folder (enter your administrator password if necessary).
If you already upgraded to Snow Leopard
You have to reinstall or restore your MPEG-2 Playback Component.
If you have a Time Machine backup of your System folder, then open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder, enter Time Machine and go back in time until you see the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file; select that file and then click Restore.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store, then you probably still have the DMG file that contains the installer. Use Spotlight to search for "QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg": if you find a file with that name, double-click it and then in the disk image, double-click the installer package for Intel Macs.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store but you can't find the QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg file, you can download the file again from the Apple Online Store if you remember the Apple ID used when you originally purchased it (if you forgot your Apple ID then go to Apple iforgot). Visit the Apple Online Store, click on "Account" in the store menu, then click "Downloadable Software Purchases," enter your Apple ID and password, and click the link to the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component to download it again.
If you obtained the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the installation of Final Cut Studio, then you can reinstall it again from the Final Cut Studio DVD. Insert the DVD and use the Finder's Go menu > Go To Folder... command to get to the /Volumes/Final Cut Studio/Installer/Packages/ folder inside the DVD. Locate the QuickTimeMPEG2.pkg or the QuickTimeMPEG2Pro.pkg installer: double-click it to reinstall the MPEG-2 component.

  • Create folders in "Home videos"

    Hello everyone,
I have quite a lot of videos in the "home videos" folder and it does not look very organized.
Does anybody know if it is possible to create folders in the "home videos" folder itself, in order to organize videos. For example create a folder which says "pets" and add all the videos of my pets there?
I know I could mark them as "TV shows" but I do not want to mix my home videos with TV shows as I have quite a lot of TV shows too.
Or is there any other way to organize many, many videos on a Mac?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

No, there are no folders or groups in After Effects.  It is one of the most requested features (from where I'm sitting) for After Effects.
After Effects allows you to Precompose layers.  So, lets say you animate your 25 individual raindrops, and then you want to change the colour of the raindrops from blue to green.  You COULD apply a colour correction filter to each raindrop layer.  But you could also precompose (or "nest") those layers into their own composition.  The pre comp is a single layer in your main composition, which you can then apply the filter to just once.  You can still edit the raindrops individually inside their pre comp.
A frequently requested feature, known as "uber twirl", would allow you to twirl(expand) a pre comp open inside a main comp to edit each individual layer without leaving the main timeline.  We live in hope!
Don't forget to post your feature requests to the AE team.  It's a popularity contest - the most popular requests are the most likely to make it into future versions.
