I want to give my old iPhone 4 to my grandson to use like an iPod Touch. Wifi only. How do I deactivate my info..so he can buy his own apps. and not have the cloud pushing all of my data to my old phone?
Just turning off Cloud will not prevent him from turning it back on.
Rignt now, if he uses the App store, iTunes thinks it's talking to me.
First, turn off iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud account, while your sim is still in the phone. Then: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Give it to your grandson & he gat then set it up as he wants.
Important your turn iMessage & FaceTime off to disassociate the phone from your Apple ID. Apple "claims" to have fixed this with iOS 6.0, but until I can absolutely confirm such, I still recommend you turn all of that stuff off first.

I want to give my old iPod touch to a friend. How do I get my Apple account ID off of it so he can use his own password and account?
Unless you want to go through the full routine of deleting the Apple ID and any personal information...and keep in mind, all content is owned by the Apple ID used to download it so nothing on there can be updated.
Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores > Apple ID and remove the ID.
Go to Settings > iCloud or any other place you will have links to your own account and remove the links.
Go to Settings > Mail, Calendars and Contacts and remove all account information.
Go to Settings > Messages and remove all account information
Go to Settings > WiFi and remove all account information.
And so on. -
How do I get a longer list of items in the history window - and not have to click "Show All History"? The default list is too short.

My grandson shares my Ipad and I want to give him a monthly allowance on I tunes to buy his own Apps/games etc. If I set up a separate account for him on I Tunes, can he then access this from my Ipad to buy his own stuff ? If so, how do I do it ?
No, that is not possible. An iPad can only be linked to one iTunes account at a time. For this you should have to reinstall the iPad every time you allow him and reinstall when you get it back. Sorry, but the iPad was designed as a personal device from the ground up and it does not support any kind of multiple users/ multiple accounts.
You can setup your iPad with Parental controls to prevent him from doing any app or in-app purchases and to hide any adult-only content. -

Hi. How can I backup word documents and not have them crowd my screen? I know, you guessed it. I'm a novice, but not ashamed!
Please explain what you mean when you say backup Word documents crowds your screen.
I don't see any connection between backup and your screen.

How do I save a file to iCloud Drive and NOT have it sync to all my devices?
I have a Macbook Air with 128GB of SSD storage. I have a Mac Mini with 2TB of storage. Both are running OS X 10.10 with iCloud Drive enabled. All iOS devices are on 8.0+ with iCloud Drive. I want to upload files to my iCloud Drive from my Macbook Air and then delete them off my Air to save valuable storage space. When I try to delete a file from my iCloud Drive on my MB Air, it prompts me to say that the file will be deleted from ALL iCloud Drive devices. I just want delete it locally on the MB Air. Is there a way to do this? Do I have to do it through the iCloud Drive web interface? Can I just make a folder in iCloud Drive that does not sync to the other devices but you can still "view" the files? I just want to save files in the iCloud but not have all those files synced on my Macbook Air. Make sense? Help please! Thank you in advance.
You're going to find that pretty much every cloud storage system works in a similar way. Some, like OneDrive, will allow you to select what folders sync to and from every machine it's installed on.
Maybe something like that would fit your needs better. -

I'm so tired of having or reorganize my iphone every single time I sync.
I'm to the point I wish there was another way to manage my phone (I've never liked iTunes for managing my music).
BuckyIt is on DHCP & NAT under router mode yet my isp is still the one issuing ip addresses to my devices instead of the router issuing them

How can I create one playlist and not have numerous ones that duplicate songs?
How do I consolidate all my playlists into one large playlist and eliminate the extras?
Hey there Christophter,
You can start consolidate your playlists by opening the one you want to move music FROM, then dragging the music in there to the playlist you want to add TO. If there is a duplicate you will be prompted to skip them or not. Then delete the playlist:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Delete songs, playlists, or other items
Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.
Click DeleteItem.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Can I use my old iPhone 4S like an iPod touch?
Is it possible to restrict the Cellular network so that my iPhone 4s will effectively be an iPod? I am trying to give my old iPhone to my daughter for use as an iPod and do not what her to be able to use any cellular services.
See this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406. All you need to do is make sure the SIM in the phone is no longer connected to cellular service.

How do I activate a used iPhone 3 with no SIM card for use as an ipod touch?
How do I activate a used iPhone 3G with no SIM card for use like an iPod Touch? It was apparently on AT&T previously and I have another iPhone 3 that is active on AT&T if that is helpful. Thanks!
Copied from the link provided.
Follow these steps to use your iPhone without a wireless service plan:
Insert the SIM card from your new, activated iPhone or one that was previously used to activate the original iPhone.
Connect the iPhone to iTunes on a computer connected to the Internet.
Once iTunes activates the device, you're free to use the iPhone as if it were an iPod touch.
