Even if you could, the Extension was likely made for desktop Firefox or for mobile Firefox for Android.

  • Disable prompt for "This Website wants to install the following Add-on: Java on Windows 7 x64 SP1 IE 10

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this-Didnt see any forum or I missed it for Internet Explorer.
Here is my problem,  We have uses that are running a webpage that is trying to install an older version of Java, The workstation has the latest version of Java, BUT the webpage seems not to care, and wants to put a older version.
Is there a way I can disable this:
"This website wants to install the following add-on: 'Java SE Runtime Environment.....'.
We have uses that will click on the Install button, and thus compromising the workstation.
    Thanks.

    Hi usgrcm,
This is a security feature if IE and is not tied to whether or not you have a sight “allowed” to use an add-on.  It behaves in this manor to help protect you against malware. Disabling this notification is not a good choice .
Have you tried to reinstall the Java software to have a check ?
There is a possibility the present installation has corrupted .Please restart the machine after reinstalling the software.
"BUT the webpage seems not to care, and wants to put a older version."
We can try to install the old version to have a check.
    Best regards

  • I want to install UI Map add on to Firefox 3.0

''locking - "owner" has created duplicate threads - more information provided here - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/788437''
UI map add on is not available in Mozilla website now. When i had checked few days back it was available. So please help me to install UI Map Add-on to Firefox 3.0

I mentioned 3.6 because that is what you posted here with. As I said before, it looks like it isn't available from AMO any longer. The developer either hasn't updated that extension in a couple of years and it is completely gone, or the developer didn't respond to an email that the people who maintain AMO sent out recently and it isn't "listed". They are cleaning up that website for the first time in like 3 or 4 years and getting rid of extensions for older, unsupported versions of Firefox after trying to contact the developer of those old extensions.
Google for it is the only thing that I can think of now.

  • I want to install my firefox profile onto a different drive from the program. How can this be done?

I have two virtual drives: C for programs and D: for data. Only D: is encrypted and backed up.
I want to install Firefox onto the C: drive but have the profile on D: so the bookmarks etc. are encrypted and backed up.
I can see how to do this.

  • I installed Firefox 4. Now, every time I open Firefox, a prompt pops up asking if I want to install the Firefox file.

I tried reinstalling Firefox 4 and rebooting. But the same thing happened. I deleted the Firefox icon from desktop, then re-sent it to desktop, to no avail.
It's like the set-up icon has replaced the regular icon on my desktop.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • I want to add refworks grabit to my tool bar, when I try to install for firefox it won' t let me this is what I get: HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you a

this is the complete error I get. I just installed firefox so that I can use this feature and now it is useless.
    Error Summary
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.
    Detailed Error Information
    Module StaticFileModule
    Notification ExecuteRequestHandler
    Handler StaticFile
    Error Code 0x80070032
    Requested URL http://www.refworks.com:80/refgrabit/install.xpi
    Physical Path E:\RefGrabIt\install.xpi
    Logon Method Anonymous
    Logon User Anonymous
Failed Request Tracing Log Directory C:\inetpub\logs\FailedReqLogFiles
    Most likely causes:
It is possible that a handler mapping is missing. By default, the static file handler processes all content.
The feature you are trying to use may not be installed.
The appropriate MIME map is not enabled for the Web site or application. (Warning: Do not create a MIME map for content that users should not download, such as .ASPX pages or .config files.)
    If ASP.NET is not installed.
    Things you can try:
    In system.webServer/handlers:
Ensure that the expected handler for the current page is mapped.
Pay extra attention to preconditions (for example, runtimeVersion, pipelineMode, bitness) and compare them to the settings for your application pool.
Pay extra attention to typographical errors in the expected handler line.
Please verify that the feature you are trying to use is installed.
Verify that the MIME map is enabled or add the MIME map for the Web site using the command-line tool appcmd.exe.
To set a MIME type, use the following syntax: %SystemRoot%\windows\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config /section:staticContent /+[fileExtension='string',mimeType='string']
The variable fileExtension string is the file name extension and the variable mimeType string is the file type description.
For example, to add a MIME map for a file which has the extension ".xyz": appcmd set config /section:staticContent /+[fileExtension='.xyz',mimeType='text/plain']
Warning: Ensure that this MIME mapping is needed for your Web server before adding it to the list. Configuration files such as .CONFIG or dynamic scripting pages such as .ASP or .ASPX, should not be downloaded directly and should always be processed through a handler. Other files such as database files or those used to store configuration, like .XML or .MDF, are sometimes used to store configuration information. Determine if clients can download these file types before enabling them.
    Install ASP.NET.
Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.
Links and More Information This error occurs when the file extension of the requested URL is for a MIME type that is not configured on the server. You can add a MIME type for the file extension for files that are not dynamic scripting pages, database, or configuration files. Process those file types using a handler. You should not allows direct downloads of dynamic scripting pages, database or configuration files.

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.

ugh......firefox has been wanting to install 17.01 or 17.04, can't remember which number, it bugs me and bugs me until i say o.k. i'll update my version. so i let it, it has to restart my computer,, then it says just a minute firefox is checking your addons for comparison, or whatever the 'f' it says, then a box comes on and a scrolling horizontal line goes back and forth like its working and the bottom says, this may take a few minutes. well, i wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and........nothing. i can't cancel it i can't x out of the box...i've let it do it for over and hour and it does nothing.....so i have to use internet ex. i've redownloaded firefox from there to try it from scratch and same thing happens, if I say cancel to the box right away it stops then nothing and i can rehit the firefox button and it will load firefox. but never fear....another box comes up later and says you need the latest version of firefox....man if the system on your end isn't working, can't you guys see this? I'm disappointed that you have sold out not too long ago too. and the ads and slowness and privacy is becoming more of an issue

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.

  • After dropping a list of .xpi files into install-dir \extensions, Firefox is completely oblivious I want them installed. What are the magic words to make FF install my addons?

I want to install addons for multiple users. So I used Windows Easy Transfer to copy a fully-built profile, including all APPDATA but my extensions weren't included. I threw my collection of .xpi files into the FF extensions directory and restarted FF - nothing. Made sure my user had admin rights, restarted FF - nothing.

I installed Adobe dlm add-on and now Firefox will not open. I see the process starting in Task Manager but no window opens. Unistalled Firefox then re-installed but still no luck. HELP ME! I do not want to use IE! I presume it has something to do with Adobe DLM as ever since then it is not working.

I had this problem for a couple weeks as well and it was extremely frustrating considering we use firefox for all our company tasks. Here is the solution:
First of all if you have no bookmarks you want to save, then go directly to step 7. If you want to save your bookmarks first, then follow these steps.
    1. Shut down the computer
    2. Reboot and open firefox
    3. Go to Task Manager, right click firefox.exe, and click END PROCESS TREE
    4. WAIT 30 SECONDS! Then Double-click the shortcut to try and open firefox again
5.Repeat steps 3 and 4 until firefox finally opens (trust me, eventually it will)
    6. Once it finally opens, backup your bookmarks,
    7. Download a copy of firefox from there website
    8. Uninstall from programs menu and make sure to check the box REMOVE ALL COMPONENTS
    9. install the new copy and BOOM! it works
If it doesn't work, you're an idiot. If you don't want to reinstall firefox, then you're out of luck. Good Luck!

  • How to install .xpi extension through cmd on windows in firefox

i need steps to install .xpi extension through cmd on windows in firefox

Is '' -install-global-extension'' still valid or has it been deprecated ?
    * see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Command_Line_Options?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Command_Line_Options#Add-ons
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_extensions#Global_installation
    * and the Firefox 4 changes <br /> https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Extensions/Updating_extensions_for_Firefox_4#XPI_unpacking
Firefox 4 no longer extracts XPIs when installing extensions. It just places the XPI file in the user profile, and then reads the chrome files and others directly out of the XPI.
If your .xpi is not from Mozilla addons I guess we may not be sure what it is intended to do, or what version of Firefox it was designed for.

  • How do I stop an add-on that wants to install itself?

I'm going to answer my own question, because I found the solution, and wanted to share it with other users. I have a program that wants to install an add-on (a toolbar in this case). Every time I start Firefox, it opens a tab that tells me "Another program would like to modify Firefox". My choices are to install it or not allow the installation. However, if I don't allow the installation, it comes back the next time I start Firefox. It's really frustrating.

Okay, so here's my solution. I went to the Add-ons manager and selected Plug-Ins. I found the program that wanted to install the toolbar on the list, so I changed its setting to "Never Activate".

  • I'm running Firefox 3.6.13. Add-ons say will be installed when Firefox is restarted but they don't install. What is the problem?

I also have a few add-ons that aren't compatible with my current version of Firefox, and they say they will be un-installed when Firefox restarts, but they still stay on the add-ons list.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button (in Firefox 4: right-click the extension -> "Find Updates") to do a compatibility check.
