Windows 7 Upgrade Guide for dv6000/dv9000 models

Statement:
You are using this guide at your own risk. I don't take any responsibility for any problems.
Things which you should know and do before upgrade:
   1. HP may demand you to reinstall back Vista if you will have any hardware problems to troubleshoot them.
     2. HP will not help you if you will have any software problems because this models are not officially supported
          with Windows 7.
     3. Before you will upgrade to Windows 7 please make Vista Recovery CD/DVD. How to do it all informations here.
     4. All Vista drivers and pre-installed software by HP for your model are in C:\swsetup folder.
      If you still have it on your HDD then copy this folder to CD/DVD. You may need them someday.
   5. Users with nVidia graphic card should check temperature of this device before upgrade.
        This way you will know is it working ok in Windows 7 too.
         How you may check your notebook CPU (processor), GPU (graphic card), motherboard or HDD temperature?
         To do that use HWMonitor (free and recommended) or Aida64.
How to find out which model you've got and specifications for it:
      1. Click on Support & Drivers link. (Upper part of this page.)
      2. In search box type your laptop product number (p/n).

It's not silly , but I'm assuming you're referring to a cloud offer. If so, if you'd looked in the terms of use, you'd have seen that you can install your software on two separate computers as long as it's only used by one person, and activated with the same Adobe ID. So you can put it on your present computer, and then install a copy on the new one when you get it.

I want to purchase a full version of Acrobat Professional XI for Windows but I am not given this option online. Or, in my attempts to purchase directly from Adobe, the purchase comes back as 'failed' and I am asked to try again.

Ned, page loading is not the issue. The issue is that Adobe (or the company that handles the fee) are not accepting my payment and keep informing me to try purchasing a subscription, instead.
If I had the time, I would go to a 'bricks and mortar' store and buy it off the shelf. However, that is not an option and I have been seeking a reseller but to no avail.
Another issue is that the Adobe site keeps directing me to a local supplier but won't let me change the country for billing purposes, i.e., I am in Singapore and my card is issued in Australia. The option to change my address is available but it won't let me change the country.
I have even tried Amazon.com but they won't sell software to a non-US address card holder.
We are supposed to be living in a global community but it seems that the site and page developers do not allow for that fact in their software.

Many infected computers (Windows 7 Home Basic etc.) have different value on System (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon), like this
System = "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\22.exe" - (this infected value)
Where can I see all legal keys on brach HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon for Windows 7, as I see on Windows 7 Home Basic (not infected) isn't key System (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon).
Could anyone from Microsoft Support say clearly and precisely if key "System" is legal or not for OS: Windows 7.

No, the key, System, is not a part of default configuration and has been created by the malware. You can delete the key. Winlogon contains the settings and details of files that needs to be loaded when a user logs in. Malwares usually create a value entry
here or modify an existing entry to match their custom configuration. The key is important, so kindly keep the same. But as for the entries, check each entry and remove/modify the ones that point to any malware file (usually have strange location, like C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\22.exe,
as in your case).

Now since the hard drive is kaput, that option is no longer available, and you will need to purchase a set of recovery disks from HP for your specific model.

I strongly recommend having an external drive dedicated solely for TimeMachine. You could partition the drive but if something goes wrong you risk losing the data on both partitions. Should you decide to go ahead with splitting the drive for two different uses you’ll need to partition the drive either using the Mac’s built in Disk Utility program or Windows utility. I believe the built in Windows disk utility program will destroy the current partition and erase the data that’s on it - I use a third party Windows disk utility program for partitioning and it allows for non-destructive partitioning but warns to back up data first just in case. Apple’s Disk Utility can do non-destructive partitions but I don’t recall every trying to do a non-destructive partition on a disk originally formatted for Windows using it. Again - back up that data just in case.
Finally, your TimeMachine drive should be at least 1.5 times (I prefer 2 times) the size of the data you expect to be backing up a year or two from now. In other words, if you currently are using 50GB of your computer’s drive but expect to begin purchasing Mac software to replace software on your Windows computer and if you expect to be putting photos, music, and other data on it you might expect that two years from now you’ll have 100GB of stuff on the drive. So a 200GB partition is the smallest size you’d want. TM’s backup scheme keeps multiple copies of data as it changes so the extra room is important for this scheme.

Shouldn't mac have some type of in home software already installed? And how can I completely restore my mac back to its original system?

1: Connect a external powered drive like a Firewire or USB drive. If you question the drive format or need to format it, first do that in Disk Utility before transfering any files to the drive. MSDOS, FAT32 or exFAT is best for any Windows or Mac to access the files.
2: Transfer your files manually by dragging and dropping your Users Folders like Pictures, Movies, Documents and Music (do not use TimeMachine!!) Eject the drive and disconnect from the computer.
3: Next insert the cd that came with your computer and reboot holding c
4: Two screens in is a menu option called "Utilities" select Disk Utility.
5: On the left is your internal boot drive, select it and Erase > Format HFS+ Journaled > Security Option > Zero All Data. Wait about a hour or so until it's finished.
6: When it's done, quit and your back in the installer again, install OS X and when finished, shut down.
The next time the computer reboots, it will go through the "welcome" video and the initial setup, just like a new Mac.

when the software comes up initially I get a message that says “could not complete your request because of program error”. Hitting OK allows me to continue using the software .
When I try to activate a function using CTLR or ALT keys I get this message “required application failed to load and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application”. This causes the application to abort.
Reloading my CS2 continues to generate the same messages when I depress the CTLR or ALT keys.

Your original copy is obsolete and Adobe is offering a free replacement you are entitled to. Download and use that and that should clear it up for you.
