I want to remove my credit card info from my account and turn my account back into a Free account that I can only download Free apps. Can I do this? I have tried to edit the information but the None selection does not appear to be clicked. Im stumped.

You definitely can.
To remove your payment information open iTunes and go into your account. An easy way to access your account is from quick links on the store home page. After you login there will be a payment type listed with an edit button next to it. Click edit then select none under card type (next to visa, mastercard, etc).
Afterwards at the bottom of the page select done, then your card will no longer be on file. It will prompt you for a card next time you try to download something that isn't free.

Had you never backed up the phone before? When you saw the iTunes logo and cable, the device was in recovery mode. The data was already lost. The only way to recover from that is to restore the device, which will delete all of your data. You will only be able to restore to your last backup, whenever that was. Sorry this happened, but this highlights the importance of doing regular backups. The backup is the only protection you have against a problem like this.

The credit card is no longer valid. It will not allow me to remove it. I do not want to add a new card. I have a credit on the acocunt but it will not allow me to use it for purchases.

Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
Enter the Apple ID you use on the iTunes Store and its password.
Click Sign In.
From the Store menu, choose View My Account.
Enter your password again, then click the View Account button.
The Apple Account Information page will appear. On this page, click Edit Payment Information, which is the second button from the top.
On the Edit Payment Information page, select None from the list of credit card types. This will delete your billing information.
Click Done at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Follow the instructions in the support article from which you came and select "none" as the payment method. If you don't see a "none" option, you may have an outstanding balance that you owe. If you've been using a true credit card that's unlikely, but if you've been using a prepaid "credit" card or a debit card where there is a balance, it's a possibility.

i always remove my credit card number after purchase apps , but i try at this morning it did't allow be to remove it anymore , can someone tell me why ?

It happens on Mac App Store & iPhone App store as well.
So clearly the problem is on my Apple ID..
I've changed my credit card details on my Apple ID but it doesn't reflect onto my phone when I login after restarting the phone. Even if i sign out.
When it reaches the part where I would need to verify my phone after entering my password. It just keeps requesting for my password and never shows me anything.
If I click update apps it'll just disable my account. Even on my Mac App store same thing happening.
