I downloaded Mountain Lion onto my iMac. Now i want to upgrade my Macbook Pro (10.7.5) to Mountain Lion. Do i need to purchase another download?
One purchase is sufficient if both computers are owned by you and the ML version was purchased as an upgrade.

I am thinking of upgrading my Macbook pro software to Mountain lion, and I just wanted to know if the airplay function is really all its cracked up to be?
For example can I stream videos from VLC to my apple tv?
Thanks team!!
RYour question asked.....
Can either of these three connect to the existing router (which is not an Apple router and cannot be changed) wireless?
So we understood that you wanted to connect to the existing router using wireless.
If you can run an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your existing router to the other house, then you could connect one of the Apple routers that way.
Compare the Apple routers here to find one that might meet your requirements:

I want to upgrade my MacBook pro ram
I want to upgrade my MacBook pro 17'' ram. I have 2X2 GB 1066 MHz and I want to go to 2X4GB but I can't find any with 1066 MHz I found only 1333 MHz. Will it work on my MacBook pro late 2009 unibody 3,06 Ghz Core 2 Duo
do not use anything other than the exact specs.
It MAY work with the 1333MHz (the 1333 will be downclocked) but you will have problems VERY probably.
You have to replace the 2X2 with 2X4.
Buy the best there is: Crucial, OWC: the price is very low. And yes the right spec is for sale everywhere.
Find a respectable internet seller in your area, and buy it: but research the Crucial and/or OWC sites for the exact specification, they have configurators where you put in your computer model.
Replacing is easy, you have to have the right screwdriver, there are 3 screws that are longer, remember where they are. -
i want to upgrade my macbook pro's ram from 4 to 6 or 8gb. mine is mid 2010 macbook pro..
Configuration
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
i am looking at

will i have any problem like compatibility??
thank you.A Mid 2010 MacBook Pro supports 16 GB of memory without any problem. Macs are "special" about memory because some brands work without any problem and others don't work. That's why I recommend you to buy the memory from OWC or Crucial in order to make sure that you get compatible memory > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3

I want to upgrade my macbook pro 15-inch i7 2.3GHz memory and I want to know what is the maximum RAM it could take
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It looks like you have got an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, so you can use 16 GB of RAM. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Remember that you cannot upgrade RAM in MacBooks Pro with Retina display
In case you have got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, you can only install 8 GB of RAM -
I want to upgrade my macbook pro mid 2010's ram
I want to upgrade my macbook pro's ram to 8gb's I don't want to spend $200 on ram from apple, i Know that with buying it from apple, if it doesnt work they will do it for you, and it guranteed to work, i just don't have the money to do that.
they outlined how to do it here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1270#link1
and i found some memmory here

I am confident in my computer knowledge that I can install ram in a mac, i've done it to dozens of pc's
so what i'm looking for is reassurance before I do anything thank youThere should no problem in installing 8 GB RAM in your MBP. Crucial is one of the best sources of RAM for Macs. Now if you are so inclined, you can install 16 GB from OWC, the other reliable source for Mac RAM.

I wish to upgrade my Macbook Pro to ML from SL but told the only way to do this is by downloading thru App store. Is it possible to copy ML on to a USB and upgrade that way. I would like to have a back up of the OS installation files just in case i have a problem later. Please help me!
You can create an install disc but you would have to download Mountain Lion to do so..

I have a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.4. The DVD player does not have a feature to store film clips. Why? This is useful for my work and I had it on my older computer? Why the loss of capacity?
I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly): -
I just upgraded my Mackbook (late 2007) into X Lion , but the Multi Touch gestures is not working. Is this not compatible with my Macbook?

... do I need to buy a new MAC office?
A better solution is to try a number of better, free alternatives. Consider
LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice (free)
OpenOffice (free)
I use Apple's Pages ($19.99) as well as OpenOffice and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft. -
I want to upgrade my macbook pro with new mac pro (2011).any ideas?
i want to upgrade my mid 2010 mac pro with the latest one. what i need to do for this?
there is no new 2011 Mac Pro other than new firmware to enable Lion only.
you can upgrade the processor easily if it is a single socket to W3680 for mere $619

parveenkay,
you could also buy a used, good condition non-Retina MacBook Pro from other sources. -

This thing isn't meant to be used at full power, right? I mean clearly 450W isn't enough to power 250W+250W for the D700s, 130W for the processor, and maybe around ~30-50W for the rest of the system? What's the catch here? Why underpower it? Why make
