The two other posts are correct... so I'll just clarify.  What's happening right now is your system is trying to boot into Windows in order to finish the installation.  What you want to do is make it boot into OS X.  As mende1 indicated, with your system off, hold down the Option key and continue to hold it while you turn the system on.  You will eventually be presented with an option to select which partition you would like to boot from.  Choose OS X.  After you get into OS X, again, as mende1 indicated, change the Startup Disk to OS X.  What this will do is cause your system to automatically boot into OS X when you restart it instead of you having to use the Option key when booting each time.
Relaunching BootCamp Assistant will allow you to remove your Windows installation and partition.

10.7.4 is not Snow Leopard.    10.7.4 is Lion.
Also, is the drive connected via USB or Firewire?
If USB are there other devices on the USB bus?
Are you using Time Machine, Superduper, Carbon Copy Cloner, or another software?.

There is no such thing as Windows for Mac. Windows is Windows and you can install it on a Windows computer or on an Apple computer. Once installed it will work until you remove it.

  • How do I stop parallels and windows 7 preventing me from installing office for mac 2011 on my new iMac?

I am trying to install office for mac 2011 on my new imac which I have already installed parallels and windows 7.  On inserting the office dvd the computer defaults to windows.  Parallels support suggested disabling the dvd drive in parallels.  I have tried this but still the computer wants to open the exe file with windows.  Any ideas please?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that you are looking for your USB drive in the correct place. To do it, first connect the USB drive. Then, open a Finder window (press the left icon of Dock) and choose your USB drive on the Finder sidebar, under "Devices". Finally, just copy the documents you need to the internal disk.
If you want to show the USB drive in Desktop, open Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > General, and tick "External drives"

  • I am a new mac owner and want to purchase Office for Mac.  Thought I was told it could be purchased thru the mac store for approx $80 (word, excel, powerpoint).  It is priced at $150 at the mac store.  Any advice?

I am a new mac owner & want to purchase Office for Mac.  Thought I was told I could get it through the mac store for approx. $80 (word, excel, powerpoint).  However, it looks like the cost is actually $150.  Is there a better deal?

Here it is from a trusted vendor of Mac goodies for US$100:
Microsoft Office 2011 Mac: Home/Student Edition. Single User License.
I also see the Mac version offered about every other week at Staples for about the same price.
Understand that the 2011 "Home/Student" edition does not come with a mail client.MS dropped Entourage with the 2011 version.
I am running Office 2008 on a Late 2010  i7 Quad iMac and a Core 2 Duo MBP (both are at OS 10.6.8) and I have no complaints. If you want the Entourage Mail client, you can still get Office 2008 from the vendor I linked.
I wonder if someone quoted the US$80 price thinking of Apple iWorks.

  • How do I load windows for mac

How do I load windows for mac I have DVD software

You can install Windows on a Mac with Boot Camp or a virtual machine. If you need maximum performance, use Boot Camp.
If you want to use Boot Camp, first check that the Windows version you want to install is compatible with your iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634 Then, open Boot Camp Assistant, in /Applications/Utilities, and follow the steps to install Windows. Check > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
If you want to use the virtual machine, you have to install an application like Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, create a virtual machine and install Windows there

  • Can I use Windows for Mac?

My boss bought me Parallels Windows for Mac.
Why would I want to use that?
    Would it harm my Mac?
Would my Mac be suseptive to viruses with that?

He said in case I wanted to run something that would require windows.
I do not like Windows, I use it at work because I do not have a choice.
Whatever document or anything that anyone sends me that my iMac will not open I just delete.
He also bought me Acronis True Image for Mac, for Backups, but what he does not know is that I purchased a
WD My Passport for Mac 2TB and that is how I back up my Mac once a month.
I feel bad he is such a nice boss. But I really do not like installing things in my Mac that are unnecessary or that might be
    harmful to my Mac.

  • 2 Questions about Windows for Mac

    1) When you install windows for Mac, does that become the "dominant" OS for the computer, or can you go back and forth? The reason I'm asking is because...
    2) I just got a mac, but I have a lot of PC only game,s most of which are PC games, that I want to play. Do PC only games run on Windows for Mac?

Just wanted to clarify one thing and that is that there is no such thing as Windows for Mac. There is Boot Camp that will partition your drive so that you can install Windows on the new partition which in turn will allow you to run Windows Operating system on your Mac.
When you install windows for Mac, does that become the "dominant" OS for the computer, or can you go back and forth?
Neither OSx nor Windows become the dominant system. You are free to choose and go back and forth (requires shut down and reboot) as you see fit. You can set one system as the default over another and switch that too at will.
I just got a mac, but I have a lot of PC only game,s most of which are PC games, that I want to play. Do PC only games run on Windows for Mac?
Yes the PC Only games should run on Windows when installed via boot camp on a Mac however your Mac in turn must meet the games' hardware requirements just like any other windows based PC.

  • Windows for Mac, best option?

Need to use Windows for work.  Can I purchase Windows for Mac. Will it cause problems , cost, and best option ... Thanks

"Best" is such a subjective term.  I don't really like it.
What do you do at work?  If you only surf web sites, and edit documents, then running Windows in a virtual hardware environment might be a good choice for you.  It will allow you to very easily perform backups, and it allows you to continue to run MacOS spps while you are running Windows.  THis is what I did at my last job and it was great for me.  I had Windows 7 Pro running is a virtual machine, and MacOS 10.8 running on the host hardware.  I could do snything that my job required on that virtual Windows PC and still have enough resources to run apps on my Mac at the sme time.
Now if you do heavy graphic work (why wouldn't you use a Mac and MacOS apps for that?) or if you are doing heavy compiling, then you may want the full dedicated hardware resources of using Boot Camp and dual booting your machine between MacOS and Windows.
The "best" answer depends upon what you have to do in Windows for work...

  • Windows for Mac hangs frequently,  how can I stop this?

I have Windows for Mac 98, and lately I have been using that a lot to type some papers, usually for seven hours a day for long stretches. What has happened is that at least once a day, the Windows program suddenly freezes without any warning, and the beachball starts spinning. I can't do anything to stop this from happening. I usually wait a few minutes and then go to Force-Quit and shut it down (the message in Force-Quit is that Word is not responding). I can usually recover some of the work when I go to Microsoft (Auto) Recovered Documents but usually I have lost a lot of the work I have done.
After this happening regularly, I started to save the work frequently, and hoped that if it crashed again, I could at least save all the work I had done. However, despite doing this, the recovered file had not saved the work until the most recent save, which I thought was strange.
As my work involves frequent typing in Word documents, this is a big worry.
I type .doc and .docx documents using Windows but from my recall (but I am not sure about this), both types of documents are involved in this problem.
How does this problem arise? Does it have to do with the memory? The Windows is using up too much memory perhaps? Would it be the same with Pages? I don't recall this ever happening with Pages but I suppose I haven't typed really long documents in Pages yet.
My computer is MBA version 3.2. I usually have other programs running at the same time: two browser windows, Pages, iTunes, vlc, Skype, and a program for using wifi with a USB stick. I should close as many programs as I can, I suppose while I am working in Windows, I suppose. Anything else I can do?
Saving frequently helps but not as much as I thought it would.
Does it have to do with my using .doc documents in this Windows program which is a .docx program? Should I install the older Windows for Mac program on the computer? Can I run the two versions of Windows for Mac simultaneously on my computer?

I'm becoming suspicious of the sheer volume of people signing up to post nonsensical complaints about 10.7. There are obviously a lot of valid issues, but I don't think this is one.
Obviously JSMFit4Life is struggling to understand the difference between Windows and Office. He's also certainly not using a PowerBook running 10.7. The whole thing seems a little contrived.

  • Windows for Mac on Macbook Air?

If I buy a macbook air (MC969ll/a) will my "windows for MAC 2004" work on Lion? Will I be able to load my 09 ILife and 09 IWork onto my Macbook Air laptop?

What do you mean by "Windows for Mac 2004"? Are you referring to Office Mac 2004, if so, no it won't work with Lion as it requires Rosetta.
Yes, you will be able to load iWork '09 and iLife' 09 on your MBA. Your new MBA will come with iLife '09 already preinstalled.
