I was straight up lied to

I purchased a phone for someone and upgraded my plan from a single line to a family plan. I bought the Droid bionic on November 2nd of 2011 and recieved it on November 4th. Right out of the box it was defective. The power button was not working properly. I brought it to my local store and the tech service deemed it to be defective as well. I asked him if I could just return the phone, cancel what I had done to my plan, and have it go back to the way it was prior to me changing anything. He said yes I could, since I never activated the phone I would not be charged anything extra on my bill. All I had to do was call the company I bought the phone from, get a return number, contact verizon customer service by phone and tell them I had returned the phone providing the number and they would take care of my plans and charges. I though great! I dont have to pay anything extra. While on the phone with the Verizon Customer service gentleman, he as well assured me several times I would not pay ANYTHING extra in fees or early termination charges and that my bill will appear the same as it has for the past few years. As I look on my bill now, I see 350 dollars in early termination fees, and all other fees associated with the phone. I was lied to by TWO verizon employees that told me the same exact thing. I have been a verizon customer for over 6 years and never has anything like this happened. I will NOT be paying anything more than what my bill is normally. No way, no how. I am extremely upset and dissapointed at what verizon has done.

Where did you buy it from?  You need to contact them and ensure they did in fact recieve the device.

I'm thinking that you have a > Mac mini (Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications because the 2010 model's only have Core 2 Duo processors and the 2011 had the first i5 processor.
2 GB of RAM is the minimum requirement for Mountain Lion, but it's hardly enough to really enjoy doing anything else.
see > Memory and Free Installation Guides for Apple Mac Mini
Plus I don't have any problems running Mountain Lion and a load of App's on my 2010 Mac Mini with 8GB of RAM.

  • Why did the Verizon rep straight up lie to us?

We have a family plan which I added a line to.  We had one line on the plan using data at the time and this was the second.  We were told that the original line was only using 4mb(megabytes, yes megabytes) over the past month and that we could save $30 or so if we added the new line and reduced our total data plan(which we though was way too high at 4gb/mo because he told us only 4 mb was being used).  We decided to go with 500mb shared.  Anyways turns out we were put on two separate 2gb/month plans costing an additional $30 or so a month.  We were literally lied to and signed and payed for something that we were not told about.  We were told our bill would go down and that our data plan would be reduced, but instead our data was increased along with the bill cost... Unless verizon is willing to help fix this issue  I think that we will be looking to change carriers as soon as the contract ends and recommend friends and family to go with a different carrier.

This was likely just a simple mistake.  Have you tried calling them to sort this out? They can change the plan and give you a credit.

  • My g505s was advertised as dual graphics. Was it a lie?

In dxdiag the only graphic it's picking up is AMD radeon HD 7640G
Is there anything I can do to speed up the laptop and increase it's performance with games and such?
IT is the A8 4500m version

    hi Sarpynom,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you check if under Device Manager if under Display Adapter will show 2 Display adapters including the  AMD radeon HD 7640G
A dxdiag tool will only pick up One Graphics adapter, It will only pick up a graphics where your Windows is currently running at.
A Dual Graphics will work as Switching to the other graphics card when an Application needs more graphics rendering.
     Let me know your Findings

  • I was lied to by the salesperson and tricked into changing my plan!!

    I am furious with AT&T!
I went in to the store in January to replace my daughter's phone and see why out plan was so expensive. The salesperson told me out plan was expensive because it was old and that I had old data packages. We have 4 lines and our 2 main numbers had unlimited data. I was promised we didn't use enough data for this to be an issue and that they could reduce my bill if we switched to their new contracts and that the data provided would be waaaay more than my family would ever use.
    This was a complete lie!
We have gone over the data package every month and the next upgrade is an extra $100/month!!
More than we were paying with our original plan!
We were due for upgraded free phones on the old plan, but instead she switched us and we are paying monthly for the phones!
Everything was a lie and I can't get a hold of a supervisor in customer service to deal with this.
When I went back to ask why this was different than I was told it would be, I was told the person who sold it to me was gone and there was nothing they could do. I had to deal with corporate.
My attempts to speak to someone who can help have been futile.
If anyone has an idea how I can get this resolved or if you've had a similar experience and you had a good solution, please let me know. I don't want to change companies but I may have to.
I do not feel I can trust the sales representatives here at all.

There is no good solution. As with all carriers, you only had 14 days to return the phones and cancel the new service. Your best bet may be to change carriers to one that will pay off your phones or ETF. Be prepared to buy new phones (Sprint "leases" them to you).  However, I'd advise you to do your own research and not depend on a salesman's explanation. Check forums for other carriers and you'll see similar complaint about them as you have with ATT.

  • So like, I called my someone in FaceTime, and after 6 or more rings, the person answered, I asked why it took so long for her to answer and she said that she answered at the 1st or 2nd ring? Is she lying or is it just that it was a delay in FaceTime?

I called someone in FaceTime and it rang 6 or more times and she answered, I asked her why it took her so long to answer, she said that she answered at the 1st or 2nd ring. Is it a FaceTime delay or anything? Or was she just lying?

I think she's not lying, unless you have a reason to think that. The same thing can happen with a phone call. It can ring multiple times on your end and only ring once or twice on the other end.

  • Was told to cancel my contract by a Verizon supervisor

A few months ago I went into a Verizon store by myself in Monroe NY to get more data for my phone. I'm not that fluent in English and the supervisor there, Kevin, helped me out. At first he was really nice and told me since I had 2 phone lines I was able to get a Verizon jet pack for free with a 2 year contract. I didn't really understand what he was trying to give me but he said trust me, you'll like this. Even telling me that it's "only $20 a month with extra data" . At the time it sounded good, I had 2 GB n added 2 more and extra data for $20 was great. But I didn't know how to use it since he didn't explain the steps to me, he only wrote the code down for me and that was it. So I decided to go back a few days later and return it, but he told me that my trial date was over and if I wanted to return it, I had to pay $165. I asked him "how is it over, it's not need 2 weeks" he then asked for my reseat and I told him he never gave me one, he then told me I can't help you then, have a good day, so I felt like I had no choice but to keep it. Then all of a sudden on sept. 12 I got a text message from Verizon saying that I'm about 50 percent up to my data and if I don't change it I'll get charge extra. So I called Verizon and added 4 more GB thinking that it's ok now. But then today sept. 18 I get another text message from Verizon again saying I'm 90 percent up to my data. That's a total of 8 GB and it's saying that I used 4 GB in 6 days? How is that possible if I had extra data on my jet pack? I didn't get it so I called Verizon again. After being on hold and waiting and getting switched around a couple of times I was finally being helped. I was then told that the jet pack I was using wasn't a extra data device but a hotspot device and I'm just using my own data. Why wasn't I told this when I first signed the contract for it? Why wasn't I told this when I called to get more data 6 days later? The Verizon employee on the phone, whose name is Robert, didn't really have any answers for me, he kept replying umm... And telling me that I needed to buy more data. I told him that Kevin told me that the jet pack I got has data already, so I didn't understand why I had to buy more. Then after an hour and some mins with him only, I loss time of how long I was on the phone total with Verizon, he was able to give me 4 GB and credit me $20 for the 4 GB. But what about the jet pack? I found out that it too uses my shared data. He told me there's nothing he can do about it and to take it up with Kevin the supervisor who sold me the jet pack. So I did, I went back to the store with my daughter and she talked to him for me (she is also typing this for me, again since I'm not fluent in English) and then he changed he's whole story around saying that he explained everything to me, and told me how to set it up and how it works. He lied about everything, I told him if he was telling the truth then I never would have got the jet pack. I feel like I'm throwing money away because I don't need a hotspot device, I needed a data device. He then told me that I only have 2 choices I can have extra data for $50 on the jet pack for 5 GB. I told him no I don't need that I have 12 GB now, so then he said ok cancel your contract if u don't want it. I looked at him to see if he was joking and he wasn't. He really did just tell me to cancel my contract, and there's nothing he can do for me. Even though he lied to me, and told me that the device was something that it wasn't. When I got home, I again tried to talk to Verizon. I was on hold, then talked to somebody that still didn't help me but tried every way to get me to spend more money. He even told me I can try to pawn it or sell it on Craig's list to get money for it so I can cancel my contract n pay for it. Soo... Again I spoke to 2 employees on the and a supervisor in person just today. And nobody was trying to help me even thou I was tricked n lied to into signing a 2 yr contract and on top of that I kept getting a cancel your contract as a answer. I can't believe Verizon has their employees or even allowing their employees to give that as an answer. I feel like Verizon just don't care once they have u trapped. I have tried calling many times, with not reply or help. Why should I stay with Verizon when their trying to kick me away?

  • I had previously purchased the programs "Pages" and "Numbers" and they are on my iPhone and iPad I was told that the programs would automatically copy a version of itself for the iMac to be running them but I don't see it installed. How can I install them

I had previously purchased the programs "Pages" and "Numbers" and they are on my iPhone and iPad I was told that the programs would automatically copy a version of itself for the iMac to be running them but I don't see it installed. How can I install for free?  I see that I could go to the apple store and purchase them again but I belibve that since I had already purchased them; I would get a free copy for my Imac.  Do I got something confused here?  Please help.

Whoever told you that was misinformed or lying. Those applications are sold separately for the iOS platform and the Mac platform.
Go to the Mac App Store to purchase Pages and Numbers for your Mac. They're $20 each. If you are running an older version of Mac OS X that can't use the Mac App Store, you can purchase install media from Apple.

  • How do I complain to Adobe about a lying representative?

While investigating the purchase of a Photoshop CC subscription, I specifically asked an Adobe Rep if I would have to reinstall my plugins from CS6.  His short answer was NO.  This was clearly a lie to pad his own personal bottom line.  So, do I have a means of transferring my plugins from CS6 or must I go through the aggravation of reinstalling them?  As I'm well within the 30 cancellation period, I've a good mind just to cancel the subscription and run CS6 as long as I can.

I apologize for posting in anger earlier.  A second Adobe Rep indicated that it was possible to transfer plugins from CS.  Here is the pertinent exchange:
Sandesh: I check and see that you must be a option to import plugins In Cs6 . However I request you to contact us back tomorrow since our Imaging Queue is not available right now.
Charles Mills: Do I understand you correctly that there is a way to import plugins from CS6? If so, I will, as you request, contact Adobe again tomorrow.
    Sandesh: Thank you.
Sandesh: Is there anything else I can help you with? Charles Mills: Yes. You didn't answer my question. Do I understand correctly that there is a way to import plugins from CS6?
Sandesh: Yes, there Is a way to import plugins from Cs6. Charles Mills: Okay. Thank you.
    Sandesh: You are welcome.
Sandesh: Is there anything else I can help you with? Charles Mills: No, not today.
Sandesh: It's my pleasure chatting with you today. You have a great day and take care!

  • My iPhone 4s developed a WiiFi fault which it was not possible to resolve. The phone was just over 1 year old. I visited the Apple store to see a Genius.  The only assistance they were able to offer to me was to sell me a reconditioned phone.  Right?

My 1 year and 1 month old iPhone 4s developed a WiiFi fault which it was not possible to resolve.  I visited the Apple store in Brighton for the assistance of a Genius.  He too was unable to resolve the fault.  He said that as the phone was over a year old that there was nothing that he could do for me as the phone carries a 1 year warranty.  He offered to sell me a reconditioned iPhone 4s as a replacement.  This cost me a further £150.00.  I was/am still paying for the phone through my contract, the phone that I no longer have!
A work collegue had a similar fault with his iPhone, although his phone was older by approx 6 to 10 months.  He did what I did and visited the local Apple store to see a Genius and was straight away offered a brand new replacement phone for no additional payment.
Has anyone else had a similar experience and does anyone have any advice?  I am furious about this double standard of customer support! And I can not find a way to email to Apple directly for customer service advice!

Thank you for your advice.  If I lived closer to the store I would do just that.  By using the forum it was not my intention to breach any TOS.
I speak to collegues and people advise me to email to Apple.  They say that Apple always looks after its customers.  I only wish to find a way to email to Apple to see if there is anything that they can do for me.  I suspect not.
You regular forum users appear to me to be well versed Apple device  users and as such maybe you could point me in the right direction to be able to email to customer support as I can not find a link!

  • Help with Straight Talk on old Verizon Iphone 4S Data Apn

So I have had an old Iphone 4s that once worked on Verizon but I had been using it for over a year as just an IPOD basically with a GPS for Golf app and Music etc.  I saw posts about this bring your phone to Walmart and go onto Straight Talk for $45 a month for everything.  Sounded good so figured I would try.  I purchased a micro Sim for Straight Talk that said it was "compatible with T-Mobile" I didn't know what that meant but figured it was Straight talk and it was a Micro Sim which it didn't look like I could get from Walmart.  I got the Sim and unlocked my old Verizon Iphone.  I was able to get the Phone working, went through many pains to get Web working but at this point I still can't get Apps that need to connect to the internet to work.  Has anyone else figured this out?  So again I can use the Phone, I can Text so I have MMS, I can surf with Safari and Maps works without Wifi but if I want to use BofA app or Ebay app that has to use data plan It says it cannot connect to the internet or some message saying it times out.  Any idea what more I need to get my full IPhone working on Straight Talk.  Also even though I'm on Straight Talk up in the left corner it says T-Mobile, is it supposed to?  Not new to Apple but definitely new to straight talk and or any other carriers other than verizon (which everything worked for but was too expensive!!).  Thanks for anyone that can help.

  • Best Buy Lie!

So, to start out I just purchased a Gallaxy S5 at a Knoxville Tn. location. In the shopping process I ask the sales person what are the advantages of me purchasing my phone from best buy. The answer I got was that if I also got the insurance that if anything happened to the phone, all I would have to do is return it to the geek squad and it would be repaired right in the store. Well I tried this, because after a week my Gallaxy S5 with the miracle glass called gorrilla glass, developed a crack in the lower left hand corner. So, when I arrived back in town I went to best buy and walked to the geek squad desk only to find out that for another $190.00  and my brand new phone I could get a like new (used) remanufatured phone. (what a deal) I was told that any crack, no matter the reason (even defective glass) was considered an accident and would not be repaired but replaced as mentioned before. But another problem is that they assumed that the crack was from an impact, not even considering or listening to the fact that  there was not an impact from a fall or any other reason. I guess the assumtion was that I was the one lying. What ever happened to good old customer service ( where the customer is always right). I guess the way best buy sees it is the more customers we can deceive the better.

    Hello GAHargis,
One of our goals is to ensure that we provide the best, most accurate information that we can about our products and services and I regret very much if our associate didn't live up to that easily obtainable objective at the time of your purchase. What you describe is not the superior level of service to which we aspire!
The associate with whom you worked could have chosen better language when discussing your phone's cracked screen. The Terms & Conditions of your Geek Squad Protection plan define a cracked screen as damage and so our representative was correct, though apparently not very tactful. In the case of a cracked screen, a service fee is assessed in order to provide a replacement. This is also described in the Terms.
I hope this helps clarify your coverage. Please know that I'm grateful that you took the time to write to us about your experience.

  • Billed for something we didn't order and lied to.

I've had my fair share of issues in the past with BT and so its no surprise I'm having problems yet again.
I'll split this into 2 issues relevant to billing etc.
    #1
The first is the issue of BT Sport HD.
I never ordered this service. Why would I? - There is no television box in the house that is HD compatible.. so it would be illogical to order something that we can't possibly recieved. What I think may have happened is that when our contract was renewed someone from BT must have selected the HD option aswell, however as I can only access my bills to a certain point I cannot even look at this possibility.
And yet I'm being told by some unhelpful member of BT staff that it doesn't matter if I ordered it or not or whether I can actually use it - if its on the Bill and they are 'providing' it they can charge for it. They also argued that why didn't we cancel it when we saw it on our bill. The simple answer is that because it was only a £3 charge we didn't notice the abnormality to the bill and it was only in december when I was checking through the details of one bill that it was noticed. At that point I emailed BT to ask for it to be cancelled and I expected that to be the end of it.... however 6 months later this is clearly not the case.
    #2 - lied to.
The second issue is that of a missed engineers appointment in December 2014. At the time I was annoyed about them missing the appointment and fairly asked for compensation; however I was told at the time that the only thing they could do was re-arrange the appointment and that compensation was not an option.
However I have subsequently found out that this was infact a lie and that the customer service guarentee explicitly states if an appointment is missed that we are able to claim... however I'm now being told there was a 120 day period by which I had to respond.... classic BT.
It is safe to say we are not happy bunnies, and that the treatment we have recieved is appalling. I have had past experience with the Mods on these forums, so I'm once again turning to them for help as they seem to be alot better than the people on the telephones.

    Hi Alex2k13,
Thanks for your post and welcome back!
Sorry that the BT Sport HD pack has been added to your account without your consent and that you feel your were lied to when trying to seek compensation for the missed engineer's appointment in December.

  • Best Buy Price Matching Fiasco

I wanted to let you know of the horrendous customer service I have just recently experienced trying to get a video game price matched. It should be a rather simple thing to take care of, and yet Best Buy wasted about two hours of my time today.
Today I drove to your West LA Best Buy location to pick up a copy of NBA 2K15 for Xbox One. Since Walmart is running a sale on this exact item for $29.96, I brought the printout to the store. I show it to the salesperson, they go back and talk to other people, then she comes back and says "I'm sorry, this is out of stock at Walmart so we cannot price match it." I told her I just looked recently and it was in stock, and I asked her if she checked both online and in-store options and she said "yes, it's out of stock both in-store and online." As my phone did not have good reception in the store, I could not verify for myself.
As I was back in the car driving, when I had better service so I pulled up the Walmart site on my phone and navigated to the listing. While their site said you cannot order through Walmart's mobile site, you can through the normal Walmart.com site. As soon as I brought up the regular non-mobile page, there the game was, in stock. The Best Buy representative must have either straight up lied to me, or checked on a phone and didn't really investigate it. In any case she did lie to me regardless, since I asked her if she checked if it was in-stock in-store and she said yes. This is completely unacceptable, and it was a waste of my time, gas, and patience. On a side note, this is not the first issue I have had recently with this Best Buy location.
My issues didn’t stop there. I then had to resort to calling the Best Buy hotline to try and price match. The representative was very nice, checked the item on Walmart’s website, saw it was in stock, and was trying to get the price match to go through, but was having issues. I was on the phone for almost 30 minutes, still waiting for her to put it through, and then it got disconnected. When I called back and got a representative, she too was very nice, and apologized for me getting dropped, saying that other customers have had issues today as well with getting dropped. She said she saw that the last rep was trying to price match the game. She goes and looks up the game on Walmart’s site, and she says she can’t price match because the item is not in stock. I tell her it was when I spoke to the last rep, it was in stock, and I was just calling back to complete it. I’m already 15 minutes into this new call now. I ask to speak to a supervisor. I wait, and wait. About 15 minutes later, she gets a hold of a supervisor who she is speaking with over chat, and the supervisor gives her permission to put the price match through. This ends up taking quite a while longer, supposedly due to new systems being implemented. All in all, that second call ended up taking just under 50 minutes. So on the phone today, Best Buy wasted an hour and 20 minutes of my time. Then you add another 30 minutes or so for the drive to and from the West LA Best Buy store.
This whole situation today is completely unacceptable, and really isn’t a good reflection of the customer service Best Buy gives. This is even more troubling considering I am a loyal Elite member. Best Buy makes it seem like they value their customers, especially their Elite and Elite Plus members, but with the recent customer service issues I have experienced, it seems that isn’t the case.
I would very much like to know what will be done so that the West LA store has representatives who know what they are doing, and also what Best Buy will do for me for the frustration they have caused and the time they have wasted.
Thank you very much for your time and understanding in the matter.

    Hello FlyBri,
Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee is a great way to ensure that you get the best possible price on exciting products and still have the benefits of purchasing through us. I was delighted to read that you were successful at taking advantage of it, though I regret that you had to invest such persistence in achieving your goal.
In truth, our stores will price match their local brick-and-mortar competitors on the condition that our requirements are met (i.e., the competitor must be in stock). Our store representative rightly informed you that we could not match our competitor's price if they had verified that their local store was out of stock. That being said, and as I previously mentioned, I was happy to read that your perseverance was rewarded via BestBuy.com.
I'm very grateful that you wrote to us about your experience and for your feedback.
    Sincerely,
    Hi John,
I appreciate the response, but  I believe you unfortunately misunderstood the situation and what had happened.  The Best Buy reps at the store DID NOT correctly verify that the item was out of stock.
A local Walmart store did have it in stock, as did ordering it through Wallmart.com.  The representatives checked on a cell phone, which goes to Walmart's "mobile.walmart.com" website.  The item was not available for sale through that specific mobile version of the site, but it does say that it is available on their main Walmart.com site.  In addition, when on the main site, a check of the stock of a local Walmart store showed that there were copies available.  So obviously the Best Buy representatives did not rightly inform me because they did not check the way they should have.
I also believe you are mistaken regarding the Best Buy Price Match Guarantee.  Even if a local Walmart store was out of stock, if the Walmart.com website does have stock of the same item I am trying to purchase from Best Buy, Best Buy must price match it.  To quote a portion of Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee language from the BestBuy.com website, "At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices).  It says nothing about the stock having to specifically be in the local stores only.  It's a moot point though, as at the time there was stock in a local store.
So the Best Buy reps at the West LA store did not do their job properly as you mistakenly thought they did.  And because of this, I had to waste valuable time and energy to get a simple pricematch done.  The problem is that this is not the only incident I have had to deal with in the last few months (and the second I have had to deal with in that specific location), and is especially disconcerting for being an Elite member as well. I am hoping the employees at that location can be better trained, in addition to taking care of the software issues plaguing the phone reps, so thtat they can put through a simple price match quickly, without it taking an hour and a half.

  • Hallelujah, finally disabled OOPP. I use Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade to anything that ignores my settings. Been looking for this info for years!

As soon as Firefox came out with OOPP, I immediately asked how to permanently disable it and had a Firefox developer straight-up lie to me and say it couldn't be done without downgrading. Thank GOODNESS for the instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/713600?page=1 Finally, finally I have excised the hated OOPP!
I run Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade, ever, unless I see signs that Mozilla has radically altered its development direction and discarded most of the boneheaded, broken, anti-user development that has gone into versions more recent than Firefox 1.x. Actually making your mission statement more than an empty promise might be a good place to start.
Let's see...anything else? Oh yeah, any developer who advocates overriding or ignoring user settings, or taking control away from the user, should be kicked off the team. (and investigated as a possible Government mole, but that's a lot to ask for). I hear Konqueror and Safari are looking for new devs. It gets old fast when you try to get support and instead get haughty "You're doing it wrong, stop doing that" responses. I'm doing exactly what I intend to be doing and if you can't support that, someone else will. If you really gave a damn about your users, you might start by backporting security fixes to previous versions instead of spewing out a cacophony of incompatible new versions so rapidly you end up confusing and alienating users and making them switch updates off entirely. I mean seriously, what happens when Firefox hits triple digits? You could stick a decimal in front of it, and name that build after a historic baseball player who had that batting average. But even then you will run out of players in a few months.
It's truly sad. I switched to Firefox because it was the best browser. But Firefox has been backsliding horribly since around 2.0, and the other browsers seem to be in about the same boat. Firefox IS still the best browser - but only if you use an ancient, unsupported version. That's a big problem.

Using an obsolete version released [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/9.0.1/releasenotes/ December 11th 2011] is the exact definition of downgrading. It exposes your system to all the security vulnerabilities that have been fixed since then.

Out-of-process plug-ins was made mandatory on Windows Vista and later because Adobe don't test Flash Player's protected mode with OOPP disabled. This change didn't happen until Firefox 14, so there was no need to go as far back as Firefox 9.0.1.
If you absolutely have to, you can disable OOPP by creating the ''MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS'' environment variable and setting its value to '''1'''. Firefox must be restarted for the change to take effect. This works in the current version of Firefox, so there's no need to use obsolete insecure versions.<br>
If you don't know how to create an environment variable, see the following article for instructions (the "Using the Custom Environment Variable" section is not relevant).
