I went on iTUnes after not using it for awhile and all my playlists are gone. How can I find them?

Hi Apple community ---
I went on iTunes after not using it for awhile and my old playlists are all gone. My library seems intact, but I don't have a record of my playlists, except for what's in my iPod. I'm afraid to sync them to get the playlists back into my computer, becuase the last time I synced my iphone it erased all my contacts from both my iphone and my computer, and I don't want the sync operation to remove the playlists from the iPod as well.
I don't have any music on my iPhone, so the two devices in question are just the iTunes program on the computer (it's a Dell with Windows Vista) and my 160 GB iPod classic.

You can restore from your iTune or iCloud Backup if you have one.

You need to sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud and sign back in again with the new password

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music purchased from other sites or copied from CDs, then have you not got a copy of them on a backup (e.g. an external drive) ? If not then you'll need to find a third-party program that can copy them off the iPad

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Only if you have a more recent backup with which to restore from - if you've only got the one from 3 months ago then you will be limited to what was on that.

Ipod freezing after not using it for 2 days

my Ipod freezes after not using it for 2 days, should i go to the apple store and get a new 1, or is this normal. If i do go to the apple store, i would probably get a nano right since they dont sell mini's anymore

What do you mean it "freezes". After 36 hours of inactivity the mini will go into 'deep sleep' mode. When awoken from deep sleep, the iPod will appear to reset. Is this what yours is doing? If so, it's normal.
Also, Apple still has a stock of minis available for warranty claims, so you wouldn't get a nano.

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

They are free to iOS 7 users who have activated their NEW device on Sept 1 2013 or after. They are NOT automatically free with iOS 7.
AirDrop is only compatible with iPad 4th gen and iPad mini. iPad 3rd gen and below do contain the necessary hardware for AirDrop. Also, AirDrop is only compatible between iOS devices. You cannot AirDrop between iOS device and Mac OS.
