I18n(Multilingual) Implementation in WebCenter Sites

Hi
Can anybody tell me how to implement Multilingual support in Web Center Sites?
In development guide it has been written that we have to create a separate template for each language by setting different language locale.
Is there is any different way for implementing the same by property file or something else.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks In Advance

  • Dynamic pages with WebCenter Sites CSElements

We are using the benefits of WebCenter Sites 11g regarding the possibilities of create the templates and the final user be able to compose the the pages. By the other hand, we have the necessity to create dynamic pages with business logic and interaction with database or web-services with WebCenter Sites templates. We expect to be able to embed these dynamic pages inside CSElements. With all of this in mind, what is the best approach? I'd like to know if our solution to use the Spring 2.5 + JPA 2 is a good a approach to reach our necessity/requirement or WebCenter Sites 11g has another better way to do that.

You can add your own business logic to CSElements, or create your own tag libraries and add your logic there. If you're using a framework like the GSF you can call an action from your element as well. In all cases, you are free to use whatever tools you like to help you implement your business logic (provided that it is compatible, which you've already learned about. :-). Just be careful that you don't use the same database connection pool that Sites uses or you may run out of connections. Also, pay attention to how you are caching your pages and pagelets when you are calling external services or accessing external resources.

  • Building multilingual portal using WebCenter

    Hi,
Can anyone point me to a good documentation on building multilingual portal using WebCenter? I found one for Spaces but I am developing custom portal using ADF resources. Thanks!

    Hi.
WebCenter Portal Applications is an ADF application basically. You have to build your own multilingual solution based on:
    - Labels in Resource Bundle configured in your WebCenter Portal Application.
    - For Web Content showed in Content Presenter you have to define a WebCenter Content solution. It can be a "language" metadata to filter CMIS Queries.
    - Locale can be managed in different ways:
    - Session bean: Language should be associated to the session.
    - User LDAP preferred language: Solution based in user preference language like Spaces.
    - Browser locale: Set browser locale to your pages to set the language.
My recommendation steps to follow in order:
    - First think in a WebCenter Content Solution for your contents and web assets.
    - Second Think "how to store your labels" internally in Resource Bundle or Override Resource Bundle that can be changed at Runtime because are stored in MDS. Or you can create an UCM View to manage literals and access them from an app bean in WebCenter Portal.
    - Think in your Java Bean that stores user "locale" and implement and strategy like Spaces. "Browser, preference or session language".
Be careful in your "change locale" bean because SiteResources labels are cached. What's the meaning of this? You have to create an ADF Listener who "clean" in prepareModel phase SiteResources Cache.
    It's a common issue, follow A-TEAM Blog: https://blogs.oracle.com/ATEAM_WEBCENTER/entry/navigation_model_locale_dynamic_run
Another blog Entry of A-TEAM Blog for multilanguage contents: https://blogs.oracle.com/ATEAM_WEBCENTER/entry/internationalize_webcenter_portal_content_presenter

  • Integrating InDesign with WebCenter Sites

We are looking at implementing WebCenter Sites but need a print component as well. Has anyone intergrated InDesign with OWS? We want OWS to be the central place for all content. Most of that content is served for the Web, but some of it needs to be served for print.
    Thanks.

I don't believe that noone has ever tried to connect the local BPM environment to a remote WCC server before. Please let me know if you've ever experienced the same problem. Otherwise, even a simple "I tried to do the samething and I succeeded using the same steps in the tutorial" would help too .
Another thing is that yesterday, I talked to the tech-lead and I learned that our WCC server environment doesn't have BPM installed yet. I am wondering if this would cause the WCC server to not understand the request from my BPM server. In addtion, I've also upgraded my local BPM server using the lastest SOA bundled patch. Should the same patch be applied to the WCC server environment too?
I'd be very grateful for any advice .

  • Integrating WebCenter Sites 11.1.1.8 and Endeca

    Hi all,
What’s New in Oracle WebCenter Sites 11.1.1.8 document states there is an integration of WC Sites with Endeca.
"Oracle Endeca Integration: Incorporate faceted search and guided navigation into WebCenter Sites driven websites to deliver more precise, relevant and complete search results. Enable site visitors to find information quickly with guided navigation. This Proof-of-Concept (PoC) reference implementation demonstrates how to integrate Endeca cartridges within WebCenter Sites. It includes sample code and best practice guidance. It will be productized at a later date."
Could you please guide me to where to find such PoC and more info about this integration?
We need to accompplish integration of WCSites and Endeca GuidedSearch.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

The recommendation from the Oracle WebCenter & ADF Architecture Team is to keep the parts decoupled, installing WebCenter Sites on a separate machine. Otherwise it would be leading towards a 'Type 3' integration. Specifically looking at the proof-of-concept application 'Spark', which requires WebCenter Sites and WebCenter Portal installed on the same machine:
+"Due to this co-deployment requirement, most clients have avoided installing or using Spark. And not without reason: installing two big, complex applications on the same environment is problematic with regards to scalability and tuning."+

  • Migration from GST URLs to WebCenter Sites Vanity URLs

We have a Sites implementation with GST vanity URLs. What does it take to migrate to WebCenter Sites Vanity URLs? Is there any documentation for this?

    Hello,
As far as I know GSF is add-on to Oracle WebCenter Sites or FatWire which is not supported by Oracle. Hence, you may have to built some custom element to achieve this.
If you are following a certain URL pattern, then you can create one CSElement just to copy gsf url to vanity URL field after you have configured your WebRoot properly (which I have NOT tried though). Otherwise its better to start from scratch by defining WebRoots and URL patterns for your asset types and then simple create one element to just edit and save all existing assets so that Vanity URLs for those assets are updated.
Check more about URL patterns here - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/doc.1111/e29636/config_vanity_url.htm#WBCSA7473

  • WebCenter Sites and Model–view–controller (MVC) framework

A customer of our started developing their sites using Webcenter Sites, they want to support additional functionality such as transaction management, exception handling, custom logging and so on. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Model–view–controller (MVC) framework, they consider it an ideal candidate for these features. Has anyone here used the MVC framework in conjunction with WebCenter Sites to write additional java classes, facade layers and utilize the Spring controller to wire the same ? Are you aware of any other options available for this purpose ?
    regards,
    Pietro

    Hi Pietro -
Using Sites IN a MVC framework is very difficult, because the entire context of WebCenter Sites is burned into the COM.FutureTense.Servlet.SContentServer servlet.  You can't really work around that with any degree of reliability.  Unfortunately, that means that dropping Sites into a pre-existing third party MVC framework doesn't really work.
There are a lot of good reasons for that, not the least of which is the two-tiered pagelet-level caching system that makes Sites so very fast at delivery... not that it's any consolation.
To deal with this some former colleagues of mine and I built the GST Site Foundation ("GSF") framework, which provides a Spring-like MVC container WITHIN sites, instead of the other way around.  If you're familiar with Spring, you'll see patterns similar with the GSF.  My current team and I have blogged about this extensively:
What is this whole GST Site Foundation thing? | Function1
Create a Simple "Contact Us" Form with GSF | Function1
How to Add Your Own DAO to the GSF Actions | Function1
The full stream is here:  GSF | Function1
But ultimately, the special sauce is the following: in Sites, create an XML element that contains nothing but a <FTCS> tag, a <CALLJAVA> tag, and a closing </FTCS> tag.  Your CALLJAVA will then call a class that implements the Seed or Seed2 interface, and from in there you have access to the (properly managed) ICS object where you can do all of your magic.  You can then build a lightweight controller here to handle any action you can dream up:
    https://github.com/dolfdijkstra/gst-foundation/blob/master/gsf-wra/src/main/java/com/fatwire/gst/foundation/controller/A…
Let me know if I can help!

    1. I downloaded hsqldb 2.2.8 and set up the database, the connection properties are
TYPE      :     HSQL Database Engine In-Memory
         Driver     :     org.hsqldb.jdbc.JDBCDriver
         URL     :     jdbc:hsqldb:mem:.
         USER     :     SA

    4. In catalina.properties i setup the classpath for cas.properties or else the tomcat throwing the error saying not able to identify cas.properties.
    The entry is given below

    What could went wrong here?
    regards
    Sri

    Hi Tony,
I don't have mac o/s so am using Windows XP. I tried to open "Download the scripts and instructions here" from your blog but
it is opening a new window in the browser with some gybrish characters.
Here is what i did, as i explained it in my earlier post, now also i am facing the
same issue while setting up the server in GUI mode but in the log file it is showing
different exception now compare to the earlier one. I will explain the step by step approach of mine
    1. start the Hsqldb2.2.8 in webserver mode (will the latest version cause any issue here?)
    2. started the tomcat 6.0.35
    3. As explained it in oracle site document for "installing webcenter sites in Tomcat" i did
    the below changes
    1. i downloaded the installation zip file and extracted it in my local m/c. Note:
this is not my installation folder.
    2. then i went to cs-cache.xml,linked-cache.xml, ss-cache.xml and cas-cache.xml and
maintain the unique entries for multicastGroupAddress, multicasegroupport and timeToLive.
[I did the modification in the extracted folder thinking that it will get copied while
doing the installation, and my assumption is correct in the tomcat while deploying later i
saw all my entries in corresponding files ]
    3. In jbossTicketCacheReplicationConfig.xml i modified mcast_addr="239.255.0.0" and
    mcast_port as 4447
    4. Then i started installing the content server, i gave the host name and port "localhost"
and "8080" wherever it is asking.
    5. i clickec express installation instead of Custom settings
    6. After installing it fro 73% again i got the same issue
    7. When i was going through all the issues logs i found below issues.
    a) it was not able to identify cache bean reference inside ticketRegistry.xml so i
commented out JBossCacheTicketRegistry and started using DefaultTicketRegistry in ticketRegistry.xml
    <!-- Ticket Registry -->
         <bean id="ticketRegistry" class="org.jasig.cas.ticket.registry.DefaultTicketRegistry"
              />
         <!--<bean id="ticketRegistry" class="org.jasig.cas.ticket.registry.JBossCacheTicketRegistry"
              p:cache-ref="cache" />
    <bean id="cache" class="org.jasig.cas.util.JBossCacheFactoryBean"
              p:configLocation="classpath:jbossTicketCacheReplicationConfig.xml" />
    -->
Again i restarted the Tomcat server.....
    b) In sites.log file i notice an exception

  • How to go on production system for webcenter sites

    Hi,
I have installed the webcenter sites and deployed them on weblogic. AVISports and FirstSiteII sample sites also been configured, now how can I go on delivery/production url?
IF we need to install gadgets on top of it then how can we proceed?
    Thanks,
    Rajiv Jain

For Gadgets installation you can follow:
    https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29495_01/doc.1111/gadgets_11gr1_installation_guide.pdf
Please make sure you install gadgets in separate machines (not even separate server on same machine) pointing to the installed cs. This is not documented but we got this info through Oracle SR.
For the production url, I'm also waiting for a response:
Actual site URL in the production server?
    Thanks
    Arijit

  • Automation Testing on Webcenter Sites

    Hello,
How do I automate content creation using any automated test tool?
    Thanks,
    Sushanth

This question can be approached from two perspectives:
    - is your task to create automated tests, or
    - is your task to automate content creation?
If the former, there is a number of tools (both commercial and open source) which can automate test scenarios on web-based applications. Oracle has one too, called Oracle Application Testing Suite.
If the latter, there might be better means than generic testing tools. Take a look at this article: http://manifesto.co.uk/using-webcenter-sites-rest-api-part-1/?goback=.gde_142076_member_5809268750695821313#!
which describes REST API. Also, if you use WebCenter Content as you content repository, you could use Batch Loader, or RIDC interface.
