  • IBooks Author & iPhone

I just pushed a new short story that was done in iBooks Author and does not include any multimedia.  Luckily, the story went live in about 12 hours.  Unfortunately, it's shown that it works on the iPad only.  Why wouldn't work on the iPhone?  Is this something specific to the fact that I used iBooks Author to publish it?

That's correct. iBA is only for iBooks on iPad.
Part of the reason is that iBA outputs a hybird epub that Apple thought up.
If you want to support both iPhone and iPad, use Pages, as one example, and ship an industry accepted epub instead.

  • Does the iPad 1 support ibooks made with ibooks author?

Well, i'm planning on buying an ipad 1 because is still capable and is cheaper than the 2 right now, and something wich is very frustrating for me is, do some apps are still fully compatible? as the title say's, the new books made with ibooks author are compatible?

With the current software ..books created using iBooks Author cannot be viewed on iPhones.
iBooks Author creates books that can only...be used with iPads and on Macs with Mavericks installed, by using iBooks.
Thats it...no rumours. Blogs or to be more accurate...some of those who  contribute to them seem to either be totally stupid, or like to make themselves look as if they have inside knowledge.
Apple created iBooks Author to allow self publishers create and publish books to the store. But not just novels or text only type books. iBA made these books allow audio / video ..and much much more than any novel. That being so....most interactive multi media books will not really display well on a screen the size if the iPhone.
Apple are more concerned in getting iPads in use more by business and education at all levels.
The only rumour that may well become fact is a larger sized screen for a bigger iPad  mid to late 2014.

  • IBooks Author iOS6 and iPhone

Hi all, this probably can't be answered immediately as ios6 has only just been annaounced, but I'm wondering if iBooks made using iBooks Author might now be compatible with the iPhone/iPod Touch running ios6? rather than exclusively on for the iPad

There is no public discussion at this time that this will be the case.....that means no news to share, at least not right now.
Beta users are behind NDAs that otherwise do not permit chatting here, sorry.

  • IBook from iBook Author to iPhone...?

I want to make a few of my iBooks available on iPhone. I've made them using iBooks Author and they are clearly formatted for iPad. Does iBook Author output file types that can be read on iPhone? If not, can anyone recommend a method to take iBook content to the iPhone?
    Thanks in advance~
    [email protected]

You can output PDF or just text for use on iPhone....assuming you're not talking about the store.
Otherwise, an .ibooks file will only target a compatible iPad, sorry.
If you car to do the rework, you can repurpose your content to a Pages or InDesign standard epub, which will work on both iPhone and iPad via iBooks. And yes, it's not a straight path....kind of a backwards path, actually
It may be best to author first in Pages so you have the wider standard epub distribution channel, and then consider doing an iBA release as a follow-on.

  • IBooks Author for iPad, ePub for iPhone?

I understand iBooks Author creates books ONLY for iPad.
So what happens If i want the book I am working on for iPhone as well? ... Do I create 2 versions:
iPad - iBooks Author Multi-Touch edition
    iBooks - Standard ePub version
Is there a way for me to state the iBooks version to ONLY show up for iPhone and iPod Touch .... ? So I am effectivly putting on 2 different books ...
    Thanks,
    Ben

At this time, beyond the categories you can choose from in iTunes Producer/Assets, how you describe your app is basically up to you Apple will let you know if they disagree.
The Yellow Submarine book is epub and available for both iPhone and iPad....you may want to take a look at it for ideas, etc.
As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • IBooks Author books and iPhone 6 Plus

Will ibooks author books that have pictures, audio, video, and other widgets, be readable on iPhone 6 Plus?

It seems like apple would have announced this if it were possible.  But we will find out shortly....

  • Does the eBooks created by iBooks Author support for iphone now?

I have been read some blogs discussing that the iPhone could gain new support for ebooks made by iBooks Author. And now, I wanna know whether the prediction is true or not. I can' t find any annoucement from Apple to confirm this point. Does anyone answer my confusion.

  • What is the best compatible graphics software to create images in ibook author?

What is the best compatible graphics software to create images in ibook author?

What you choose may depend on your budget, skills, etc.
    Preview comes with OS X.
GifConverter and Pixelmator are in the (Mac) App Store and work well.

  • HT5213 Can you publish to iPhone with iBooks Author?

Can you publish to iPhone with iBooks Author?

    No, sorry.
iBooks Author creates a hybrid epub that works on iPad only.
Use Pages, InDesign, etc. to generate a standard epub that will work on both iPhone and iPad if that is your goal.

  • Can I create books for iPhone using iBooks Author?

Can I create books for iPhone using iBooks Author?

There is a new $5 iBooks Creator app in iOS app store for the iPad.
The output looked pretty good for an iPad app.
There is a video on how to use it to give you an idea of how easy it is.
It creates ePub 2 whihc can be read on all platforms with an ePub reader except Amazon Kindle whihc forbids such things.
You can run the ePub through Calibre and get MOIB for Kindle which works for me.
I have done thirty or forty conversions so far.

  • Does iBooks Author support iPhone?

I don't have an iPad and I would like to know if you can make a iBook for the iPhone with iBooks author. I don't see any way to have a preview with my iPhone 4 S. I find this strange because iPhone have iBook and I really like reading a book when I'm on the go and I find the iPad a bit too bit to carry.

I don't believe this is correct. I can export the book with IBA as a .ibooks file and add the book to iTunes. However, in iTunes, that book then is not available for syncing to an iPhone, only for syncing to an iPad.
At least that's what happens for me.
It is doubtful that an iBook would work on the tiny iPhone screen. Certainly not without endless zooming which, incidentally, doesn't work with iBooks anyway: you can pinch open to zoom into a page but, as soon as you let go, the page snaps back to normal size.
    Michi.

  • IBook created with iBooks Author does not appear on iPhone

    Hi,
My daughter created and published a book using iBooks Author but it only shows up in the iPad and Mac version of iBooks.
Is there a way to get it to work on the iPhone iBooks store as well?
    Thank you for your courage.

I found the answer here. I guess I just didn't dig long enough!
The short answer is that iBooks Author does not output a format that supports iPhone. Use Pages to generate an ePub file that supports iPhone, etc.

  • IBooks Author: superscript not displaying after export to iPad / iPhone

superscript displays perfectly in iBooks Author on my Mac but reverts to normal baseline in iBooks on iOS. I have tried with different font — same problem. What could the problem be?

    Thanks for your interest Tom.
Here is a screenshot from iBooks Author. Take note of the reference '3' at the end if the top right paragraph.
Here is the same page in iBooks on my iPad mini:
I have tried restarting iBooks on my iPad mini and I have tried it with iBooks on my wife's 3rd generation retina iPad.
Any other suggestions would be thoroughly apreciated.

  • How can I share iBooks authored by me using iBook Author on 2 different iPads synced to two different computors? Both iPads have different iTunes accounts.

I am in the process of authoring an eBook using iBook Author.  The project is a work in progress and I want to share the draft with other collegues.  We each have our own iPads synced with other computers and we have different iTunes acounts.  I attempted to preview the book on the new iPad, but the iPad did not come up in the available device window.
Am I missing something or is there a way around this?
