iBA books are in the .ibooks format, which can only be read on an iPad or a Mac running OS X  10.9 and higher.
Nobody in these forums can tell you why Apple has not made such books readable on the iphone, but you can ask for this via
http://www.apple.com/feedback
For the iphone .epub format is required.  The Apple app for producing that is Pages.
Or if .pdf does what you need, you could export your .iba file to .pdf and read that on any device.

  • Is it possible to restrict an iBook for iPhone devices?

    Hi,
I'm preparing a book to be sold on iBooks, but I've noticed that it wouldn't be read correctly on iPhone because it's a technical book (full of code and output source) and it won't be read well on small screens.
May I set the book is not recommended for iPhone devices or restrict it to iPad? or anything? I don't want people to buy my book and find it difficult to read because of the coding parts being unreadable on iPhone... I'm attaching two examples of my book in Kindle...
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Javier

  • HT4059 Highlighting in iBooks for iPhone.

When I'm in scroll mode, I keep highlighting text, the yellow one, not the blue one that gives you the choice to copy or define or whatever, when scrolling down. It sometimes happens when I have it on book mode, but all I have to do to fix that is just tap the screen instead of dragging my finger across. Is there a fix like this or a simple setting change for scroll mode?

I was looking more to have my entire ibook ie previous purchased content all in one place in my itunes ibook section and then being able to sync it to my iphone and have teh stanza/ereader/kindle apps read from the directory that ibooks stores it on the iphone. I have both DRM'ed and Non-DRM'ed ebooks purchased from the the palm ebook store now at http://store.fictionwise.com/palm/ that I use. I would hope IBooks would be able to open DRM'ed books from other sources though.
Important sidenote update: I have since updated my OS and Itunes, and have synced myiphone with it, there now appears a sync category for IBOOKS in the Iphone Settings Section along with the other categories.

  • Publishing iBooks for iPhones and iPod Touches

I just created an ibook using iauthor.  I've published it to the ibooks store, but it is only available for download on iPads.  No one can download it on their iPhones or iPod touches.  How do I convert it and publish it to a format that will work?

Yes and no - depends on the file format of the 'book'.
The iBooks app can be download on iPhone, iPod touch, ipad and ipad mini - true.
File support with this app differs though, depending on device:
iPhone and iPod touch - ePub, PDF
Ipad and ipad mini - ePub, PDF, ibooks
If you really want people to read your book on an iPhone or iPod touch, then the ibooks format is not for you. Use Pages for example to create ePub, or export a PDF from iBA - that way you can still get the formatting/desktop publishing layout etc.

  • I need ibooks for iphone 3g

    Hi,
my father gave me his old Ihone 3g and i want to use ibooks, but i only find the newest version that doesn't support ios 4.2.1, where can i get an older version ?

I had the exact same problem - phone a hand me down from my brother.
I am using eBookS reader (libri.de) from the iTunes store, the information is in German but the app works well and is free.
So glad I didn't buy an iPhone 3g which I was considering before I got a gift of one.  Can't believe they cost 350 Euro and are obsolete and unsupported.

  • What is the purpose of the black line on top of the screen in the latest version of iBooks for iPhone? It irritates me.

It has been around for a while. Like for the last 2-3 versions of the app.

Could you use the camera icon to post a screenshot here of what you are talking about?
Nobody in these forums represents Apple, so you can't get answers about why apps work the way they do.  But you can ask for changes via

  • Ibooks for macdont sync with iOS

    Hi
I make notes and high lights in iBooks for iPhone & iPad and they sync witout any problem, but iBooks
for Mac doesnt sync well with them so what might be the problem ?
    Kindest Regards

    Hi
I just received my iPad2 yesterday. The books that I purchased through iBook on my iPod appear in my iTunes Library. They also appear in the synchronisation window for my iPad. When I synchronised my iPad for the first time, the movies I had selected to add to my iPad did not synchronise but all of my books synchronised. When I synchronised my iPad again, the movies eventually added, but I didn't notice until today that all of my books disappeared. I have tried several times to synchronise my books today, but to no avail. I tried to sync all books and then I tried to sync selected books but nothing worked. I have located the book files and they are all in my iTunes folders. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone else had this problem?

  • IBooks Author for iPad, ePub for iPhone?

I understand iBooks Author creates books ONLY for iPad.
So what happens If i want the book I am working on for iPhone as well? ... Do I create 2 versions:
iPad - iBooks Author Multi-Touch edition
    iBooks - Standard ePub version
Is there a way for me to state the iBooks version to ONLY show up for iPhone and iPod Touch .... ? So I am effectivly putting on 2 different books ...
    Thanks,
    Ben

At this time, beyond the categories you can choose from in iTunes Producer/Assets, how you describe your app is basically up to you Apple will let you know if they disagree.
The Yellow Submarine book is epub and available for both iPhone and iPad....you may want to take a look at it for ideas, etc.
As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • Can I create books for iPhone using iBooks Author?

Can I create books for iPhone using iBooks Author?

There is a new $5 iBooks Creator app in iOS app store for the iPad.
The output looked pretty good for an iPad app.
There is a video on how to use it to give you an idea of how easy it is.
It creates ePub 2 whihc can be read on all platforms with an ePub reader except Amazon Kindle whihc forbids such things.
You can run the ePub through Calibre and get MOIB for Kindle which works for me.
I have done thirty or forty conversions so far.

Check your trash can on the desktop. The old version is automatically moved to the trashcan. You should be able to move it from the trashcan back to the Apps folder within the iTunes folder. The update that was pushed out was for iBooks to work with iOS 7 not iPhone 5. iOS 7 was released today.

  • How do i use ibooks for saving my lecture notes / power point slides please?

Hi, how do I use ibooks for savng / storing my lecture notes on please? (on either a iphone or ipad). Also, can I save powerpoint slides to it too? thanks.

iBooks can only read two formats -- .epub and pdf.  So you have to convert your lecture notes or powerpoints to one of those.  To do that, check the Save, Export, or Share functions of whatever app you are using to create your notes.

  • Zoom feature in iOS 7 for iPhone 4S

In Apples iOS user guide for ios 7 it states that the zoom feature in the video mode for the iSight camera  is available for the iPhone 4S and above when in fact it is not. I spoke to two senior technicians in tech support and they both agreed that the information in the user guide is incorrect but could not provide either an explanation or a solution.  Interestingly, the zoom feature in the video mode is available for the iPhone 4S operating with iOS 5 but is not available in newer iOS platforms. I think Apple should include this feature in an iOS 7 update since it was available in previous iOS platforms and it was a listed feature in the iOS 7 user guide. Did Apple do this to make people upgrade to a newer iphone? Apple needs to provide accurate information to the public in order for consumers to make educated decisions when when choosing an iPhone. It is a decision most consumers must live with for two years when they enter into a contract with a wireless carrier. This error was also missed and not reported by tech reviews on the Internet.

“Zoom in or out. (iSight camera) Stretch or pinch the image on the screen. For iPhone 4S or later, zoom is available in video mode as well as for still photos.”

  • Does the Wish List for iPhone/iPad/iPod show price drops?

Does the Wish List for iPhone/iPad/iPod show price drops? I assume it would show the new price in the Wish List but does it inform you if the price drops?

The apps which show on the file sharing section on your iPad when connected to your computer's iTunes, you have exactly the same apps installed on your iPhone - they are not separate iPad and iPhone apps that you have installed on your iPad/iPhone, and only the iPad version supports file sharing ?
For iBooks, that won't show, it doesn't support file sharing. You can add ibooks / epubs / PDFs to your computer's iTunes library (the iBooks app if you are using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it) via File > Add To Library, and you sync them to a device via its Books tab :
If you want to copy them off the device to your computer's iTunes (to the iBooks app on Mavericks) then File > Devices > Transfer Purchases will copy them over (that will copy PDFs and epubs from the iBooks app on your device, not just ibooks).
