ICal adds year to my birthday

I've just checked iCal for my birthday this month, January 2015.
iCal says I'm 73 this month, one year more than is true, I was born in 1942, it should show 72.
iCal gets its birth dates from Contacts, I changed the date on my contacts card and it was immediately reflected in iCal.
Changed it back to correct date, still showed in iCal as wrong date - one year added.
Same issue on iPad 3, however birthday on iPhone 3GS is one year behind!

TY Kilted person.
Yeah, curious isn't it, was never much good at maths.
Funny thing is my sister did the same thing, thought she was 30 but was 29 so had 2 30th birthday parties.
Probably an alien conspiracy.

  • Why doesn't ical add all of my google calendars on the same page?

why doesnt ical add all of my google calendars on the same page.
like in gmail, i have different calendars that all show up together on the same page.
i see that they are there in ical when i click window. but the are not all see together on one page.

If the box next to each calendar in the list is checked, it should show the contents of the calendars on the page. Unchecking the box hides the calendar.

If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
    See:
Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

  • Is there an iCal add-in that will accommodate different time zones?

I am a former Windows/Outlook guy, now living in an all-Apple world (iMac on my desktop; iPhone, iPad and/or MacBook Air when I travel, which I frequently do.)
Here is my challenge (something that was easy, easy, easy to do in Outlook):
I want to be able to create events in iCal that will occur in some other time zone without having to do the mental math.
For example, I am sitting at my desk in my home time zone (Eastern Time) and book a flight from Washington to Los Angeles for sometime next month.  What I WANT to do is create an event with a start time of 8:30 am Eastern and an end time of 11:30 am Pacific.  To do that now, I have to mentally say "That's really 8:30 Eastern to 2:30 pm Eastern". Hope I got the conversion right.  If I did, all is good.  The event will show up properly in my iPhone at departure time in DC.  When I fire up my iPhone on landing in LA, the internal clock adjusts, and everything is good. If I make a mental mistake (for example, add hours rather than subtract), I might miss my flight.
I have another trip already on the books to Dallas.  I get an email from a colleague setting up a meeting while I am there.  Regardless of whether I am sitting at my iMac in DC or looking at my MacBook in a hotel room in LA, what I want to is be able to enter the appointment as "2 o'clock Central Time" and be assured it will show up in the proper time in my calendar, regardless of where (or when) in the world I happen to be the next time I look at iCal.
Most of the comments on this forum suggest work arounds. "Just work it out in your head". But I am not talking about doing this occasionally with one or two events.  I do it constantly with literally scores of events occuring in multiple time zones. And there is nothing worse than setting an alarm clock for 3 in the morning in Paris so you can get up to catch that 8 pm Eastern board of directors conference call only to discover you missed the call because you screwed up the math when you entered the call in your calendar.
Like I said. Outlook in Windows does this flawlessly.  But setting up Outlook on my home Mac (in a Windows partition) defeats the purpose of my trying to do it on the software, platform and hardware I prefer to use.
Which is a long winded explanation to get back to my simple question:  is there an iCal add-in or standalone app that plays well with iCal that will let me designate the time zone for start and end times when I create an iCal entry?

It sounds like 1Password may do what you're looking for.

  • How do I add my child's birthday to their AppleID?

I have had email addresses and appleIDs for my kids since MobileMe. Now, when I try to add them to my familyshare account, the system won't let me do it without adding a birthday. Their birthday's are set to mm-day-0000. There is no birthdate associated with the account. Why can I not change it? We have had these accounts for years and they are using them for FaceTime etc. Thanks for your help.

Hmm i guess it is something special because you created these accounts under MobileMe instead of iCloud... I'm not very sure about this topic, I would contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/) or wait until one of the forum cracks can help you;)

  • ICal: print "year" overview

    Dear Forum,
in iCal, one can select "week" ... "year" as a view.
I would like to print the one year overview, but for whatever reason this is not possible.
Any idea for a workaroud? A script? Or a sweet little App?
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers
    Martin

It would not, I think, be an easy task. There is no way, AFAIK, to ask iCal to save the equivalent of the week display as a separate file. It would be possible to do it with GUI scripting, but this is not easy and generally not considered reliable.

You could take a look here - John Maisey has posted a script to print a daily schedule automatically.

  • How do I create a new calendar for the current year, using last years calendar's birthday's/photos and comments from the lower pages?

Each year for the past 5 years I make a family calendar and send copies to all he family members around the globe.  I hate that I have to recreate all the birthdays and special occasions from scratch, and re-drag all the photos onto these dates, in the lower half of the page of each month on the new calendar.  How can I create a new calendar for the current year and port all of these photos/comments into the new calendar from last years calendar, to save having to redo all this work!!  I am not talking about the upper half page of the photos only...I am referring to the calendar page of each month.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open iWeb so you see your original site in the left hand pane. Use the File->New Site menu option to create a new site. Give it the name you want.
Now select a page in your original site and type Command+D. That will duplicate the page. Drag the duplicate page down to the new site and rename it as needed. Do that for the other pages you need in the original site.

  • ICal - month/year navigation bar on bottom like iPad...can we have it?!

Is there a way to activate iCal in Lion OS to be like iCal on the iPad: specifically the month-month bar on bottom of screen to select any month in a 12 mo period. There is nothing at the bottom of the new iCal on Lion.

Having been working with human computer interfaces for years I can't resist getting into this one:
Just another click is not just a click. It is a poor interface! ANY TIME A USER MUST USE A WORK AROUND THE PROGRAMER HAS FAILED! Apple has dropped the ball on this one. There should be seamless continunity between all devices. The screen views and functions should all be the same.
There are a number of things in Lion that are a step backwards. This is one. Another is the loss of the scroll arrows. Now moving around large lists and bjects is painful. And no, the keyboard arrows are not good enough (another poor work around.
Another is that desktops keep changing their order and the arrow keys do not cycly through all the desktop views as they used to in Spaces. I have to arrow from end to end or use Mission Control. That requires TWO clicks.
The whold point of a Mac is to have an intitutive user interface. Someonw needs to start again with Lion.

    Hi SQLtl,
To achieve your requirement, we can directly use expression. For more details, please refer to the following steps:
Right-click the column contains Year field to insert a column with Outside Group-Right.
Then type the following expression to the corresponding cells:
    =Sum(iif(Fields!Year.Value="2014",Fields!REVENUE.value,0))-Sum(iif(Fields!Year.Value="2013",Fields!REVENUE.value,0))
Besides, we can also use custom code to achieve the same goal, please see:

  • HT5114 How can a responsible eleven year old use an i-pod? I do not want to begin with the idea that it is okay to change the year of your birthday like "everyone else does". What can be done in an honest way?

How can a responsible eleven year old use an ipod? I do not want to 'follow the flow' as I have been instructed to do by other parents in order to obtain an apple id for her by changing her birth year. I believe in truth. I believe that even a 'little white lie' simply adds a burden in our childrens hearts and allows them to think it is okay. As I was told, "It is okay, how is Apple going to find out?" I do not want to travel that path. Her friends have ipods, our 9 year old cousin has an ipod....Help, Honest Mom in need of a solution.

She can use an iPod. She just can't have her own account in the iTunes Store. The restriction is on using the iTunes Store, not on using apps or playing content purchased from it. You just need to set up an iTunes Store account and buy items for her rather than having her do it on her own.

  • Editing a reminder in iCal adds extra fields when it appears in Reminders iPhone app

When I edit a reminder in iCal, it adds a whole bunch of fields to the Remidner when I open it in Reminders on my iPhone such as due date. How can I prevent that from happening?

I too have noticed a similar problem.
When I create a reminder on my iPhone 4S (and begrudgingly set a time, even though I want it to be all-day), it shows up in my iCal (Lion 10.7.4) as created the same day.
However, if I want to edit this reminder in iCal (i.e. delete the timed 'On a Date' message that comes with it…), the date you put–in the best way that I can desribe–has a "-1 day" attached to it.
    Scenario:
You create a reminder on the iPhone 4S for Today, 5/29/2012.
    In iCal, you:
    1. change the date to 5/30/2012.  Nothing happens (because 5/30/2012 -1 day = 5/29/2012).
    2. change the date to 5/31/2012.  The reminder changes to Tomorrow (5/30/2012).
    3. change the date to 5/29/2012, which should do nothing, but changes it to Yesterday (5/28/2012).
Any reminders created in iCal do not have this problem.
I'm hoping that this will all get fixed when Mountain Lion comes out, and reminders becomes it's own separate app on the MacBook.  I really do hope they put a field for all-day, otherwise I will seriously reconsider the use of reminders.

  • The "Birth Year" field in Birthday

I don't know about you guys, but who over 30 gives out their birth year? I have hundreds of birthdays but l only know the birth year for those of my immediate family. Why the heck is this a required field? Is is possible to turn it off? What do you do if it's not? I've taken to setting birth years I don't know to 1000. At least that way I won't get confused.
Still a dumb field to require.

My point is that it should allow you to enter a day and month without a year. Most people don't provide birth year unless you ask them directly and, quite frankly, that's rude. There should be a provision for entering a birthday without a year, after all, you are tracking the day 99% of the time, not the year.
I realize that there is probably some standardized format responsible for this, but there needs to be "no year give" code so one is not required just to enter a birthday.

  • Add Year

    Hi,
I have a query where I am converting a date to a year field and adding 1 onto the year:
    to_char(s.active_month, 'YYYY')+1
active_month is in date format DD-MON-YYYY
    I get an error message:
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got CHAR
    00932. 00000 - "inconsistent datatypes: expected %s got %s"
Can anyone help with converting this field to a number?
    Thanks
Edited by: sliderrules on 15-Nov-2010 08:56

    Hi,
If s.active_month is a DATE (which is the only reasonable way to store data that represents a point in time), then the way to get a DATE exactly one year after it is:
    ADD_MONTHS ( s.active_month
            , 12
)If you want a NUMBER that reflects the year of that date, then use EXTRACT:
    EXTRACT ( YEAR FROM  ADD_MONTHS ( s.active_month
                                    , 12
            )or, more simply:
EXTRACT (YEAR FROM  s.active_month) + 1You could also use TO_CHAR to convert the DATE to a VARCHAR2, then use TO_NUMBER to convert that VARCHAR2 to a NUMBER, and then add 1.
If s.active_month is not a DATE, then convert it to a DATE, then convert it to a DATE or a NUMBER.
If you'd like help, post some sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results you want from that data.
Sometimes, when you use one datatype in a place where another is required, Oracle will automatically convert the type for you. The problem you posted is one case where Oracle is not doing such an iomplicit conversion for you, but even if it were, it is not a good idea to rely on implicity conversions. Always use explict functions (like EXTRACT or TO_NUMBER) to convert from one data type to another when you need to.

  • After sync add strange date of birthday to all contacts

I´m findind a case after synchronizing several blackberrys in my job. After activating wireless sync, suddenly appears in all the contacts the year 6771 in the birthday field.
    It´s happening with diferent models (8110, 9105...)

It does look like an issue with coercing an AppleScript date object to an ISO date string - you can just coerce the date to text in your Run AppleScript action.  The way you set the time gives an error on my machine (note that as of AppleScript 2.1, a date string must exactly match one of the system date formats), it should be something like:
set FutureDate to (current date) + (6 * days)
set time of FutureDate to (11 * hours)
              return FutureDate as text
