ICal - Apple's most problematic app ever
1. missing data issues
2. iCal Helper - spikes CPU
3. easily corrupted data
4. no easy way to restore from Time Machine (do you really know where you data is ?)
5. at least 3 names for "cloud calendar"
my latest issue is #2. Why does iCal Helper spike my CPU (shown near 96% in Activity Monitor).
This problem has been going on for a year. Comes and goes, no detectable pattern to give a clue what causes this.
and then iCal crashes.
Tried to restore from backup but I dont know what restore date to use, because I dont know exactly when the problem started to occur.
So you see why Time Machine is only *so* useful.....

My app store, Apple ID, safari, and most other apps do not work after upgrading to iSO 6, How do i solve this problem? Can somebody help me please?
The App store is a problem for many and I have not seen a solution.
What is "wrong" with your Apple ID?
Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod. -
Coreservicesd crash (com.apple.LaunchServices) screws up most running apps
I've been seeing crashes in the coreservicesd process that screw up most running apps and force me to restart the entire machine. When this happens, the Dock disappears and then reappears showing no running apps. The menu bar also gets stuck on a single app, even when I try to switch to another window with the mouse. The symptoms are very similar to those described at http://discussions.apple.com/thread/3289125, but I am on a MacBook Air running Lion 10.7.1.
Here's what gets logged to the system console:

Hi all,
Some misunderstanded the fact. Here is some points about that: http://in.news.yahoo.com/two-thirds-apps-apple-store-never-downloaded-zombies-05 4843596.html
I guess I'm not sure of the point of the article either. I would imagine this applies to almost all software ever released for any platform. The considerable majority get little use or attention, and are short lived. Only a relatively few meet some major common need amongst a large number users.
How many people install and regularly use MS Office or Adobe Reader to their home computer, relative to say something like any one of the multitude of ftp clients that exist or have existed over the years (since most peoples ftp use will be via a web interface, not a standalone client)?
Most software either gains no traction due to alternative competitive apps, or is targeted at a niche market of relatively few users.
Just the nature of the market - it's very tough to come up with a real breakthrough application that nearly everyone will want or regularly use, or that will do so for a very long time. Even big hits like many games peak quickly and then fade off into history, even though still available. -
Audiobooks purchased from iTunes store doesn't show up in most audiobook apps
I purchased my first audiobook recently. I saw it at Amazon on my pc, but decided to purchase it at iTunes (on my pc) because I figured I'm going to be transferring it & listening to it on my iPhone so I might as well purchase it at iTunes. Well, I'm wondering if that was a wise decision because I'm finding that the audiobook I just purchased can’t be located in most audiobook apps. There are a few apps that can play it. For example:
The default Music app in my iPhone: but the disadvantage is that it doesn’t seem to have the bookmark feature which is probably the most important feature for audiobooks.
Audible: This is the app from Amazon which found the audiobook but all the chapters have been removed since it was purchased from iTunes. Had I purchased it directly from Audible/Amazon, then the chapters would have remained intact.
Most other audiobook apps are more interested in having you sign up with them and getting your audiobooks from them. That’s fine but it seems counter-intuitive that they don’t play existing audiobooks you may have purchased from somewhere else (like iTunes). I’m actually surprised the iPhone doesn’t come with a default audiobooks player (with bookmark feature).
So for now I plan to stick with the Audible app and purchase future audiobooks from there (in order to keep the chapters intact). Can anyone recommend any other way to do it or another app that will play audiobooks purchased from iTunes that have a bookmark feature and keeps all the chapters intact?

iOS 7.0.2Regarding the default Music app in my iPhone, I also play alot of songs in that app. If I play a song after I listen to the audiobook, wouldn't it last stop at the song instead of the audiobook? That's why a real bookmark feature would be nice and that's why I'm surprised Apple didn't come out with such an app.

Hi everyone! I have iphone 4s, which was my friends bought it from canada appstore about 1 month before and has serial number DQ*******TDD and IMEI ****. When i try to check warranty on the page https://selfsolve.apple.com/wcResults.do i see
We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us.
And if i try to enter IMEI here i see
Our records indicate that this product has been replaced. Please provide the serial number for your replacement product to find the support and warranty coverage information. For more information, please contact us.
Does it means, that I was bought a non exist iPhone? Or it was refurbished? I need an official answer to take them to seller because I was bought iPhone as a new.
How I know my iphone is refurbished?
Thank you.
answers that i folow up and find are :
- Did you purchase the device from Apple or an authorized reseller? If not, then you were scammed.
- It means you bought a gray market phone that was replaced, reported lost, or reported stolen, then re-sold illegally. It has no warranty and Apple will not service it with an out of warranty replacement.
- If your phone was replaced, it was most likely refurbished.
- You cannot tell the difference between a refurbished phone and a new one.
- check your serial number if its starts with 5K then its refurbished model
Not true. All it does is identify it as 'service stock'. It may be refurbised, or it may be new. There is no way for you, or even someone at an Apple Store, to tell the difference.
6 - You bought a phone that was stolen, lost, or taken in for repair and then re-sold illegally. get your money back if you can.
If there is ever a hardware problem that requires service, you will most likely not be able to get it serviced or replaced by Apple.
7- During the refurbishment process the devices are assigned a new serial number.
8- This means that your iPhone was replaced by Apple and you entered the serial number for your old iPhone which was replaced.
9- That means that particular phone has been replaced under warranty. Where did you get the phone from? If it was used, the previous owner may have had it replaced and not returned it to Apple as they were supposed to and sold it.
10- Interpreting what you postd, it would seem you had the device replaced at some earlier stage. Apple doesn't repair but instead replaces the whole unit with a refurbished unit which has its own serial number. Whatever the case, you will have to see Apple about the matter.
11- white box (new) or a brown box (refurb)
now my questions :
how i know my iphone is refurbished and how apple support my iphone who ever my serial is replaced ??How can I know my device is refurbished or new one??Can I check my device is refurbished or new with serial number?

I have a 3rd gen iPod touch and I downloaded the most recent itunes, ever since I did, only the first song syncs to the ipod. As soon as it gets to the second, it still says its syncing. However, nothing happens. How do I fix this? I have restored and updated the ipod. I have the new iTunes. I have restarted my computer checked the connection and everything.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
mavericks has broken most stock apps, app store ,preview, messages, facetime ect the list goes on they bounce in the menu then nothing its been like that since installing mavericks fixed briefly by reinstalling but then stopped again very quickly
any help ?You most likely ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. -
Warning. Stop using Apple's native email App.
Stop using Apple's native email App, or else you will end up just like me, with no room for anything else.
The thing is a memory gobbler.
It eats memory like a hog and there is no way in the world to reclaim lost Gigabytes.
You though you can get back your memory by deleting emails? You are wrong!
You thought erasing email accounts will help? No. Another strikeout.
There is no way to get your memory back. Neither the thing can be uninstalled.
You will be better of not using Apple's email app ever!Been using Apple's mail app in iOS for years with a total of 9 different email accounts without a problem. As always, your personal experience and problems are not an indication of a fundamental flaw or even issue for the many MILLIONS of users world wide.
Perhaps, if you just gave some actual details of your situation, someone here could actually help you. -
IHate itunes...deleted most my apps
Yet another check in the "hate" column of the Apple products Love/Hate saga. So I decided to try to sync my iphone with the imac so I'd have an additional backup since my windows laptop is on the skids. I signed out of my wifes account, signed into mine and hooked up my 3GS. Needless to say, most my apps are gone, i guess replaced by some long ago set of apps from a couple years ago when i initially synced on the imac even though i though i selected the obvious correct setting (hint to apple programming nerds: make this sort of thing idiot {pc user} proof) So, without being a mac tech nerd, is there any way of accessing the old apps (a backup or something)? thanks
This is correct.
The iphone will syncwith one and only one comuter at a time. When you sync to another, the current content will be erased and replaced with content from the new computer.
This is nothing new. It has always been this way.
You can transfer itunes purchases from iphone to itunes on a computer. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You can also simply redownload them.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
most of App free for my Mac air appear to my in topic free but i have to paid to get it i need help ?
The Apple apps that appear in the Free app section are not normally free and they are free only to people who qualify. To qualify you must have bought a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. Or you must have the older version of these apps on your Mac when you upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9, after which you get the Mavericks versions for free.
If you qualify for free apps the Buy button sats free. If the Buy button has a price, you do not qualify for these apps for free. -
Will the reminders app ever have a snooze function or maybe implement badges to remind that a reminder hasn't been completed?
We don't know what Apple's future plans are until they announce them.
You can suggest features to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html -
hi, can anyone tell me, if i purchase a used iphone4, how will i be able to register it with my apple id? currently what ever i do it asks me for the apple id and password of the previous owner. Please help
you have to restore to ios 6 and then sign in with your own apple id,
any apps etc on the iphone now, will not be able to be backed up and used in the future as they are not linked to your apple ID. and if you plan on using the previous owners ID then you need there [*** which I assume you dont have.
simply just restore using itunes then setup as new with all your details and your done, you can go to the appstore and start getting your own apps -
Did Apple just delete my app remotely?
I had an app that I hardly ever used on my iPhone, but when I went to look for it today it was gone. I checked my iTunes app library and it was gone from there as well. Then I checked my previously purchased apps and it was gone from there as well. Finally I checked the app store for the app to no avail.
This was an app that I paid money for no matter how small the amount (99 cents).
I've heard that Apple has the code in iOS to do this (the "kill switch") so I'm guessing Apple had some problem with this app developer, but am I getting a refund? It is doubtful Apple remote killed your app. Though there is a kill switch I am not aware of it ever being used; it is surmised it would only be used if malware ever got through the screening process for apps. I have a copy of the "banned" Netshare available for a short time a couple years ago and it has never disappeared (and yes, I did just check in case!) Do you have any kids? My 6 year old just told me he has helped me out by re-organizing my iPad; I have so many apps that I could easily be missing a few from accidental hits of the "x" during that process, perhaps your app had a similar fate? But I guess that would not delete it from your iTunes. What was the app?
