Ical attached files

Do I have it right that if I attach a file to an appointment made on my macbook and have ical synced with iCloud the file will not remain attached to the appointment on my mac?

You can only add attachments to 'On my mac' calendars. You can't sync or share non iCloud calendars.
You can publish on my mac calendars and you can publish any attachments added to them, you can subscribe to published calendars.

  • ICal attached file gone wrong

I use file attachements a good bit in iCal, but recently, when I go to view them I get this:
    http://emberapp.com/radmacdaddy/images/screen-shot-2010-02-22-at-11-36-49-am
Seems the links are messed up. What might correct this other than having to rebuild the whole series of calendars.

  • Viewing attached files in iCal events

I use iCal for work appointments.
When an appointment has an attached file to it, I can't see the file: when I click (or press space bar) on the name of the file I only get a blank page, and the name of the file attached to the appointment is different form the original, looks like a temp file with random name, like asdrf56nfro.
Can anybody please help me with this?

This sample is just for demonstration purposes - so it might not make a lot of sense to do, but we have a live web site that has a need to pop-up additional details for the PDF file being viewed and we run into this problem where the first PDF works, but when you move from one to the next, the PDF does not display in Adobe 9.  If you are running Adobe 9 and you click on the refresh this page link you should get an error or a blank area where the PDF would normally display.

  • Mailed iCal attachment shows right date but clicking will put appointment on wrong year, month and day. Even names involved are wrong!

Running Mountain Lion on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Suddenly a mailed iCal attachment showing the right date, time and attendees ends up years and months off on iCal with totally wrong attendiees, when clicked in Mail. iCal synced to iCloud. This may be very trivial for some of you but I need help, please.
    Thank you.

I ran into this exact issue after migrating a time machine backup from an older macbook air to a new macbook pro.
The following steps solved my issue:
    1) Backup your current mac
    2) Create a new user account on your mac, and login to that account.
    3) While logged into the new user account, right click the time machine drive and select "get info" > Click the lock icon at the lower right corner so that you can make permission changes. Then Click on the "+" sign and add your new user account to the "Sharing & Permissions" window. Be sure to grant your new user "Read & Write" privileges and when you have done so, click on the down arrow and select "apply to enclosed items" This step will allow you to copy the library folder from your old user account to the new account without hitting any permission issues.
    4) Download "TinkerTool" (An application that allows you to enable the viewing of any and all hidden files and folders on your local or mounted hard drives) and check the box that reads "Show Hidden and System Files" and then click "Relaunch Finder.
    5) Lastly copy the Library folder from the older user account on the time machine backup drive to the new user's library folder. Also be sure to copy your Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Music folders to the new account as well. Open Mac mail and follow the instructions to import the previous accounts mail messages. Once you receive future ics attachments or calendar invites you should be able to click on them and load the proper date and time within your iCal application.
This worked for me and I hope it works for you.

  • Problem Attaching Files to CalDev Calendars

In LION's iCal, I am unable to attach a file to an event when the calendar being used is managed/maintained/stored on Apple's CalDev Server. There is no "Attach File" field available for these calendar events. The only way I've found that this works is if the calendar is created to be stored on my local computer. Is this a defect (bug) or did they design it this way?
If is by design, why? I can't see any reason why files are attachable to events on local calendars but not those on CalDev calendars...

I'm not even sure. I think that was the notorious iphone auto correct. & just now looked back & I see it multiple times where I thnk it just should have been &. But maybe I tried to both type the & as well as the word and?
I now have a makeshift set up w ethernet plugged intp the Airport Express & then into my MacBookPro. So much easier to type on it than on the iPhone.
Another suggestion if you have really big folders is to see if you can create subfolders if you can see some sub-categories that you could identify. That is what I have done. I have several levels nested in folders.
But the same thing will work no matter how many sub-folders you have if you look in finder & then just click on the triangle to open up those subfolders.
I can't remember how I did it before. But again, if you are in Apple software, for the file, look to see if it has a share menu & if you plan ahead to know you are going to want to attach the file, you can open the file & then use the share menu to share by email & again if its in Pages you can chose either Pages, Word or pdf & it will attach that chosen format version of the file to an email.
So, if you don't plan ahead but like I often do, start typing your email & then decide to attach, you can still do this same thing, but then you can copy & paste the text of your email into the new one or you could drag & drop the attached file to the email you have already been writing.

  • Attaching Files to To Dos and Events

    Hi all
    More questions.
Is there within iCal or through third party scripts a way to attach files to To Dos or Events a la Palm Desktop ?
Dragging to the notes field gives the path to file but no clickable launch.
    Kind Regards
    Eric
PS eg is there a syntax where the url field through localhost could be used to launch the file ?

I hope the next version of iCal coupled with the new Mail application will come close to the functionality Now Up to Date and Contact gave me 10 years ago. Back then, I could attach people to email (using Claris Emailer), attach tasks to documents, put everything together, log telephone calls...
Now Up to Date changed to Windows and Claris Emailer went belly up. It shouldn't be so hard to associate people with documents (and to aliases of these documents so that changes get reflected).
Oh yeah, and making it possible so that my published iCalendars aren't accesible to each and every single web browser in the planet.

I cannot find answers to the following questions:
Update e-mail template: There is no option to include Outlook iCal attachment. How does an attendee's calendar get updated?
Outlook iCal attachment: We cannot edit the iCal and have no control over what the content includes?
Outlook iCal attachment: There is no audio information (in this case, outside teleconference dial-in numbers) information provided. The audio profile has been created.

Not that this will help you very much I guess, but I just successfully created an email in Verizon webmail and attached a file using Safari 4.0.5 under Windows 7 and sent and received it just fine. I have Apple Java Plug-in and Java Deployment Toolkit plug-ins installed and active, do you (Hasve no idea whether these apply to a Mac environment)? • ICal attachment field

When I go to create an event the "attachment" field is not showing.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Are you looking at a local calendar "On My Mac" or a server based calendar like MobileMe Calendar Beta?
Only local calendars will have the attachment field.
If you are indeed using a local calendar and still don't see the attachment field try the following steps:
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
If that isn't the cause then:
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to add "Comments" and attach files onto a form?

My server is LiveCycle ES 2.5, trial version, Turnkey install / Express mode  with  Reader Extensions.
Client side has IE8 and Reader X 10.1.2.
User interface is the standard out-of-the-box WorkSpace ES.
I have an application that routes a PDF form through a Workflow,
the input/output of the User Tasks is a Document variable that points to the PDF form.
I know that in the WorkSpace, ther's a built-in Attachment "tab" where the user can attach files and get them routed along with the form.
But how about Reader's "attach file" (the paper clip) and annotations (the yellow sticker)?  how to allow users to use those features?
I tried it in the WorkSpace, and when the form is loaded in the IE window, those features were disabled.
    How to enable them?
Do I need to modify the standard Render service? and add 'Apply Usgae Rights' or something?
is there an easier way that I missed?
    thanks

Attachments are lost if your form submits as XDP. If you change the submit type to PDF then server that same PDF back to the next user, the attachments will be there. If you decide for other reasons, you still want to submit as an XDP, take a look at this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4316578#4316578

  • I can no longer attach files in Yahoo mail since upgrading to FireFox 4.0.1. I click the "attach" button and nothing happens - no file list to select from appears; nothing.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1 the "attach files" function in my Yahoo Mail account no longer functions. When I click the "attach files" button nothing happens - nothing. No file selection box opens, no error message appears, no pinwheel of death, nothing.
The "attach files" button is no longer 'hot' in FF 4.0.1 either = the "little hand" icon does not appear when I scroll over it. Other action buttons are still 'hot' ("attachments", "emoticons", "format", "hide bcc"etc.) - just not the "attach files" button.
The Yahoo Mail "attach files" function still works when I use my Safari browser, however. So, it appears to be a FF4.0.1 issue.

  • Problem with attaching file to Sales Order

    Hello,
In my company we have the possibility to attach files to sales orders, e.g. pdf files with the printing details.
These files are added by the GUI user, this works fine.
Now we have an extra order creation stream in which a pdf file has to be added to the SO without user interaction.
    I found a helpful link ( /people/rammanohar.tiwari/blog/2005/10/10/generic-object-services-gos--in-background )
This program creates URL links with no problem, but the file generation is not implemented yet.
I tried to add the file functions to his sample report but still have one problem. The file is uploaded, but not reported as a PDF file in sap. If I select the created attachment SAP allows only the saving of the attachment. After saving the created file is a good PDF file, it opens with PDF-viewers.
Why does SAP not know this is a PDF file and report it as such (and open the pdf viewer when selected).
    Thanks, Frank.

You need to supply the PC file extension in the container element 'DOCUMENTTYPE'.
    swc_set_element lt_message_container 'DOCUMENTTYPE' p_msgtyp.
In your case change the above statement as below:
    swc_set_element lt_message_container 'DOCUMENTTYPE' 'pdf'.

  • Display Material |Attachment File in ALV report

    Dear All,
I have to make ALV report for mutliple material attachment file.I want to display material wise attachment where user can see in report. We can see attachment list in Service For Object button in MM03 tcode for single material. And i also i do not want attachement list on tool bar where like MM03 is dispalying.
I need ALV report for materialcodewise image/attachment file like,
    MaterialCode    File
    A101                any filename
    B101                 any filename
So user can click on file base on material, then file will open and he can see image/attachment.
Please guide me for above mentioned query.
    Regards,
    Shivam.

    Dear Shivam,
You can have multiple attachments for a sinlge material. You need to consider that in your report.
for getting the list of attachments using the static method CL_BINARY_RELATION=>READ_LINKS.
      DATA: lw_BOR TYPE sibflporb.
      DATA: lt_rel TYPE OBL_T_RELT,
                 lw_rel type OBL_S_RELT.
      DATA: lt_links TYPE obl_t_link,
                 lw_links type OBL_S_LINK.
DATA: lo_root TYPE REF TO cx_root.
      lw_bor-instid = <Materail no.>   "<------- Materail No.
      lw_bor-typeid = 'BUS1001006'.
      lw_bor-catid  = 'BO'.
      lw_rel-sign = 'I'.
      lw_rel-option = 'EQ'.
      lw_rel-low = 'ATTA'.           "<----------Attachments
      APPEND lw_relt TO lt_rel.
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD cl_binary_relation=>read_links
            EXPORTING
              is_object           = lw_bor
              it_relation_options = lt_rel
            IMPORTING
              et_links            = lt_links.
        CATCH cx_root INTO lo_root.
      ENDTRY.
Once you get the list of attachment populate your output table using the same.
you can use FM SO_OBJECT_READ to get details of attachment.
Make the column with attachment as hotspot, so that ALV take action in sinlge user click.
In the user-command of ALV write the code to open the attachment.
you can use the FM SO_DOCUMENTS_MANAGER
    Hope this helps you.
    Regards,
    Sachinkumar Mehta
