ICal, Exchange2007 and shared calendars

Hi there,
as there's no dedicated iCal topic I thought I'd dare to post this here, it's the most appropriate.
Just installed my brandnew snow covered cat, connected Mail/Addressbook/iCal to our company's Exchange2007, so far, so good.
Now, I'd like to open shared calendars (that's what they're called in Outlook) in iCal. This is NOT the same thing as a delegation! Has anyone gotten this to work? What am I missing?

Yes, this needs clarification.
Perhaps this needs to be a separate thread but for me, I'm talking about the calendars that can be created within the public folder. Several years ago using Entourage, I created a scheduling calendar in the public folder that I can specify who gets access and in what capacity. The problem with Mail/iCal is there seems to be no way to view the public folder or it's contents. It's the same problem on an iPhone.

I get the feeling that the moderator (or whoever is in charge) of icalshare died or left the country some time ago and nobody noticed. Have you ever tried to post a calendar? I have posted a cricket fixture calendar for Durham CCC twice now - the calendar has not appeared and my messages to them are ignored. The same thing happened last year when I posted a soccer fixture list. Has anyone else had the same problem? It really is as if nobody's in charge there.

Outlook Connector and shared calendar

Hi.
Looking for some help troubleshooting an issue with shared calendar functionality from Outlook using the Connector.
All server bits are JES-R2. Connector version is 6.0.129.
Connector is working for the most part, but when I try to subscribe to another users calendar from Outlook it is failing. Even when I do a search, and pick the user from the list, the lookup fails to return the user and I get "User not found. Either enter the email id of the user OR click on Search and then click Find to locate the user."
The ldap search I'm seeing in the access logs is curious in the sense that it seems to binding with dn="".

This is returning 0 entries, and I believe this is why it is failing. I believe the connector is probably using this search to retrieve the users calendar_id.

The problem seems to stem from the fact that the subscribe to calendar function from the connector (outlook) is searching ldap on uid, but using an email address as a value:

Outlook connector, and shared calendar... again

I'm using the communication suite through the communication express and outlook.
All work fine on both email client, but... with outlook, I can't see people's shared calendars.
Other functions work very well, like shared contacts, folders etc..., but when I want
to list shared calendar of any user, no one appears, and so, I can't subscribe.
(I can search people, find people, but when selected, no calendars...)
I took a look at the log (ldap server, oc logfile, etc...) and didn't see any error messages.
With comm. express, I can subscribe, see, modify. So I don't think there's an authentication problem.
I'm using outlook connector 7.2.402.1 on outlook 2003 SP3.
I'm new to sun comm. suite, so if I'm not accurate enough, ask me!

ICal US and Christian calendar subscriptions

I just noticed that these two Apple iCal subscriptions (US Holiday and Christian calendars) stopped working this week on multiple macs. Could these be related to mobileme ending, since the subscriptions are on mac.com servers?

I had the same issue with the Christian calendar. My US calendar is still working though. You can get the US calendar from Apple at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/usholidaycalendar.html. Click Download and it should open up iCal/Calendars to let you subscribe.
I can't find a Christian calendar hosted by Apple anymore (at first I thought they removed all religious calendars, but they still have Islamic and Hindu calendars, so I'm not sure). Google offers one though. You can subscribe to it if you have Google Calendars, and once you do there's an option to copy an ICS link, which can be used in iCal/Calendars.
Try creating a new calendar subscription (in iCal/Calendars) and paste https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/en.christian%23holiday%40group.v.calendar.g oogle.com/public/basic.ics
. That's the link I copied from them, and I believe it should work even if you don't have Goole Calendars.

Ical server and google calendar

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has found a way to have a google calendar run the same way in ical as ical server so that all everyone can view the google calendar through ical server.
We currently have our calendar on google calendar and would love to migrate it across to our server.

ICal - secretary and sharing - HELP!

I've been searching for some answers to some questions and cannot get any answers! Any help, hugely appreciated.
I have multiple calendars on my iCal - one for work, one for personal, one for special days, etc. I work in an office where we have both PC and Mac users. I would like to have the ability for an assistant to be able to:
Access my work calander (but not the details), and be able to schdule appointments in my calender too - which will be updated on all my devices via icloud. Is this possible? It would save me huge amounts of time and streamline my life!

Should be straight foward, i presume you use seperate calanders in iCal. When you connect your iPhone, press the info tab in itunes on the page for your ipod. There you will see the settings for calanders. You can then choose which calander you wish to sync to the iPhone. If you select both, on th iphone you in calander, there is a button that takes you to a menu (calanders, top left) which shows you all the calanders you can view an individual calander or 'all'.

Can i not agree to delete an appt in ical in a shared calendar?

I share a calendar with my family. By mistake someone has deleted two appointments and I get a notification asking me to ok it.
Can I not ok it?
How do I find the time/day of the appts? The first notification shows time/day - but the second doesn't?

Actually solved it now - I figured out how to get into restrictions and change delete apps so the x came up!

Leopard Server and sharing calendars

I want to *upgrade my OSX server to Leopard* and want to know whether this will allow my networked Macs to *share calendars* or contacts *via Leopard server.*
I maintain a small office with a G5 server (10.3x now), 3 mac desktops, 2 PCs on wired network plus wireless for occasional laptops.

ICal: public AND shared editing?

Is there a way to make a calendar public, so others can subscribe to view-only, but also editable by more than just the owner? For example, my colleague and I would both like rights to edit a calendar, and we want to share it with a larger group for viewing-only. Thanks for your help!

If you select “Only the people you invite,” you can specify people to share the calendar. Click Add (+), type a person’s email address, and then select read-only access or read-and-write access in the Privilege column. To invite another person, click Add again.

If you've been making backups to icloud, then you should perform a restore to the ipad, unless you had the data on a computer, in which case you could try to restore the calendar file from a backup.

Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase your phone. Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.

Sharing iCal with non-mac calendars

How can I share my iCloud calendar with someone who stubbornly doesn't want to download iCloud to their PC or set up an @me email on their iPhone??

Cancelled (detached) events showing on shared calendar - help!

I can't figure out how to remove cancelled events from showing in iCal on a shared calendar. We use Zimbra for mail, etc. I subscribe to my boss' calendar and it is showing his cancelled (detached) events. They do not show in his iCal on his computer and they don't show in Zimbra. They only show in my iCal. I've looking in every preference I can find....I've tried un-subscribing to the calendar and then re-subscribing. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas??

Consequently........it only seems to happen with recurring events we migrated from Microsoft Exchange. I cannot replicate it with a new appointment. I would still, however, like to be able to remove ones that are currently here. Since, they are recurring, they do show in the future, as well.

TS3999 Shared calendars disappeared

I had a number of shared calendars on my iCloud, all of which have suddenly disappeared. When the owner of those calendars invites me again, I get the email but not the in-app notification. Approving the shared calendar from those emails does nothing. And they don't get an invite from me when I try to share a calendar with them.
In iCloud - Perferences - In-app notifications are turned on
On my iPhone and iPad - Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars - new Invitation Alerts is on, and Shared calendar Alerts is on
I've checked my Apple profile - just the one noted (which was verified), no mobileme conflict
Also did the changing my AppleID email address, then back again - hasn't resolved
I did sell my old iPhone, and was (for a while) seeing that person's photos and calendar on my iCloud. I think they took it into an Apple store to stop our accounts from sharing - could they have doen something to my account? I can't get hold of them to ask.
Anything else I should check?

I have a very similar issue that seems to have started about 4 days ago. I first noticed it when the color of my wife's shared calendar (our family calendar) changed, and I couldn't change it back. It was very annoying, because the color changed to blue, and my personal calendar was already blue. I couldn't tell them apart.
When I would try to change the color of her calendar, it would appear changed, but would change back automatically or if refreshed. In an attempt to solve it, I removed her calendar and asked her to re-invite me.
Here's where it gets very odd.
Now, if she invites ME to view the calendar, I will get an email notification. However, my FATHER will get the notification in his calendar app (or in the iCloud.com app).
This is very easy to reproduce. I opened 3 different browsers: Firefox, Opera, and Safari.
In Safari, I logged into iCloud.com as my dad.
In Opera, I logged into iCloud.com as my wife.
In Firefox, I logged into iCloud.com as me.
In my wife's iCloud.com calendar, if I add my email address as someone to share the calendar with, I will get an email. The notification will show up on my dad's iCloud.com account in Safari.
In my dad's iCloud.com calendar, if I add my email address as someone to share the "Work" calendar with, I get an error that says...
Couldn't share "Work".
Your changes to this calendar couldn't be saved because of a server error. Please try again.
I've been trying for several days now.
How can I fix this problem? I feel like there is something really screwed up with my iCloud.com account!

Cant join a shared calendar

Hi there,
Before iCloud launched we purchased the MobileMe family pack and sharing calendars worked perfectly. When MobileMe transitioned to iCloud, the master account from Mobile Me was transitioned as well as the child accounts.
Now we have the following setup:
Old "Master Account"
Old "Master Account"
iCloud Email: [email protected]
iTunes Email: [email protected]
Old "Sub Account 1"
iCloud Email: [email protected]
iTunes Email: [email protected]
If the "Master Account" logs into iCloud.com with [email protected] and then shares a calendar with [email protected] everything works perfectly. "Sub Account 1" receives the invitation and can click the link and then access the shared calendar.
However, if "Sub Account 1" logs into icloud.com with [email protected] and then shares a calendar with [email protected] the inviitation is sent successfully. If the link is clicked by [email protected] it tells us that "this calendar cannot be joined as it is no longer shared".
I have made sure both accounts have verified email addresses. Both times I created a fresh calendar on icloud.com to share.
Does anyone have any ideas?
