Ical icon has a number attached to it

Just like when I haven't looked at my email messages. Not sure what this number means. I have gone through the calendar with out success at getting rid of the number. Any help appreciated. I know it is something simple. tks

The number indicates that you have received a meeting invite.

  • The iPhoto icon has a number by it

The iPhoto icon on the menu bar has a red dot with a number "1" in it. I can find out what that means or what I need to do.

  • ICAL ICON DISAPPEARED IN DOC

    Hi,
Have you tried dragging it from the Applications folder into the Dock? See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2474
If you have tried that can you let us know what else you have done to trouble shoot.

  • ICal icon in the dock partially missing, only number shows

Hi there, my dad was messing around with iCal today, trying to drag it somewhere else, and I think he broke the icon for it.
The paper, rings, and red bar in the iCal icon won't show up. The only thing that shows up is the number 11 and the word Nov, which are today's date.
I found an icon file called "App-empty.icns" inside iCal's resources folder (when you right-click "show package contents") that looks like just the paper without the numbers. It seems like this icon is the "behind" part of the iCal icon, meaning the paper and rings, and the numbers are the "in front" part of the icon, but only the "in front" part is showing up, if that makes any sense.
I've tried dragging it out onto the desktop then opening iCal, but that didn't work. Computer restart didn't work either. When you launch iCal, the icon snaps back into shape like it's supposed to look, but when you quit iCal, it goes back to its ghost mode where it only shows the number and the month, sans the paper.
Any help would be lovely, thanks.

    Did anyone resolve this problem?
I have a client who has a partially missing iCal icon on the dock. it appears to have just the number of the month in black and nothing else!
also when you open the iCal app, the icon then turns 'normal'. But another issue is that
all the current month's appointments are missing until you move the calendar one month ahead,
and then back again to the current month. Then, mysteriously, all the appointments re-appear in
    the current month.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.

  • ICal icon on my Mac Book Air displays a circled number at the upper right corner as does Mail for new emails - how do I find out what item(s) that number is referring to? And why does it show up on the Mac Book Air and not my 4S iPhone?

A circled number appears in the upper right corner of the iCal icon on my Mac Book Air. What does it mean? How do I resolve it? Why doesn't it appear on my 4S iPhone via the iCloud?

    Glenn,
That number means that you have an event invitation. Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification. Since OS X 10.7.2 is required for iCloud integration, I am not surprised that there are anomalies between the iPhone and the MacBook Pro.

  • Not sure what I did but all of a sudden everything I touch has a voice attached to it telling me what it is. For instance, if I touch an icon it tells me out loud what the icon is, and tells me to double tap to open it. What is happening? Help!

Not sure what I did but all of a sudden everything I touch has a voice attached to it. For instance, if I touch an icon it tells me out loud what the icon is and tells me to double click it. ***??? Help!

Connect your iPhone to your computer via its USB cable and select it in the left column of iTunes.
Select the "Summary" tab, scroll to the bottom and click the "Configure Universal Access" button.
Disable "VoiceOver" and click the "OK" button.
Click the "Sync" button at the bottom-right.

  • I have reviewed all written responses about the number in red circle that appears on ical icon and all of them mention an envelope in the bottom left-hand corner with an invitation.  I have the number but no envelope.  How do I remove it?

I have a number in a red circle on the ical icon at the bottom of the desktop.  I know from reading previous (quite old) posts that there should be an envelope with an invitation in the left-hand bottom corner of the ical page.  I don't have the envelope.  My partner recently got a new Mac and was trying to join our calendars and it caused some problems for me so she discontinued that merge.  We are no longer connected (by Mac, I mean).  This may have caused the problem but now I don't know how to get rid of that number.  I can't find any event that she added to my calendar to click on to perhaps get rid of it.  Any ideas?

    pacull,
Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification.

  • How to I get rid of a "footnote-like" number by my iCal icon?

Suddently I have a "footnote-like" number by my iCal icon.  I have my calendar items color coded and the "footnote" also shows up when I open my calendar.  I don't know how the footnote got there or how to get rid of it.

The footnote is by my tasks identified with a blue color.  I unchecked all of the other calendars and then looked through my calendar at all of the blue items.  I didn't find anything like a "meeting invitation."  I searched the calendar for "invitation," but that didn't result in anything.

  • Why can't I open Facebook. The icon has a blue spot attached

I can't open face book on my iPod mini. The icon has a blue dot attached. What does this mean? And how can I open Facebook?

The blue dot means it is a newly installed or updated app. I would try deleting it and then re-installing from scratch to see if that helps.

  • Little Red Number on Ical Icon on dock

I have a little red circle at the upper right hand corner of my Ical Icon on the dock. It is the same as the number that appears when I have 4 emails waiting for me in Mail. I don't publish my calendar, nor do I have any alarms, nor do I have any events of merit. I just use it as a desk calendar. How do I get rid of the Four in the circle? Looked everywhere for this answer.

I just figured out how to get rid of the numbers. Click Notifications on the bottom left part of the Ical screen and some blank invitations will show up. Click one and a box shows up that gives you the option of deleting the Notification/Invitation. I did that for the 4 little boxes and the number is gone.

TThe Facebook app icon has a red circle with  number that increases every time my phone rings.  How do I clear it?

The Facebook app - or do you mean the Facetime app? The Facetime app will show all of the incoming phone calls if you are using the iPad for iPhone Cellular Calls. Settings>Facetime>iPhone Cellular Calls>On.
