ICal import of .ics file and receive alarms error

I receive an error import failed, items cannot be deleted from alarms. This only happens every so often. How can I resolve?

Hi,
Where do the .ics files come from? I believe iCal during event import scans the file for alarms it considers unsafe (some file action alarms etc.), it is probably an issue of it not being able to remove one of these if the .ics file is not formatted correctly.
When this happens is there any related information in your Console output (Applications > Utilities > Console). There should be something there that may indicate why it's happening.

  • How do I publish calendars imported into iCal from a .ics file to iCloud rather than MobileMe?

Having upgraded my iPhone4 & iPad to iOS5 and my iMac to OSX 10.7.2, I have been having trouble with duplicate calendar entries. Unfortunately, having deleted all but one calendar from the iCloud web interface, I heeded the mistaken advice to disable Calendars in the iCloud preference pane on the iMac and it deleted the calendars that had been removed from iCould from the iMac as well.
A few false starts later, I was able, after disconnecting all my devices from the net, to restore my iCal calendars with TimeMachine from before the chaos started then exported them as .ics files. After rebooting and re-enabling the network to the iMac, iCloud sync purged the restored calendars from iCal again, so I imported the .ics files into iCal and published them again, but the publish options only include MobileMe or a private server, so I chose MobileMe. iCal now happily shows all my calendars on the iMac again, but the iCloud web Calendar app can't see them.
How can I get iCloud to see the published iCal calendars again?

Solved, I think! What you need to do is log on to your icloud account at www.icloud.com, go to the calendar screen, click the gearwheel and choose New Calendar. Create a calendar here (ie up on the iCloud) with the name you want for your imported calendar data. Then switch to iCal - you may have to quit and relaunch for the new iCloud calendar to appear (or it will probably do so automatically if you wait long enough) then import the data using File->Import->Import... When you get to the step where it asks which calendar you want to import the data into, choose the new iCloud calendar you've just created. Job done!
To be complete in my answer, I don't think you can exactly do what you want to do, at least not at present. There doesn't seem to be any way to publish a calendar to iCloud after the first time you set up iCloud on your Mac when it exports any calendar data that is on the Mac at that time. I suppose that Apple feel that the way I have described works by exporting from one calendar and importing into another, so no need to provide a way of doing it directly.

  • Trouble with .ics file and incorrect appointment times

My problem sounds quite similar to many of the other discussions within this community and the net in general. However I have yet to find a solution to my issue.
When receiving an email with an attached .ics file it imports into Calendar two hours later than the actual event. I have double checked that my time zone setting is correct in the General Settings and, as has been suggested, turning off "TIme Zone Support" in the Mail, Contacts, Calendar settings. The .ics files I receive are created in the same time zone as I.
When opening the email on my Laptop and importing the .ics file it is correct in iCal which, to me, means I have an incorrect setting on my iPhone.
Is it a coincidence that the import on my phone sets its own alert time at two hours and that's the same time differential that the event is incorrect? There is no set alert time when importing the file on my laptop. I also have no default alert times set in my phone settings.
The only way I can get it to work is if I open it on my laptop first then sync my phone. It's unfortunate that I rarely have the luxury of having my laptop with me.
So, simply stated, the file imports perfectly on my MacBook but not on my iPhone. What settings on the phone am I missing? Ive tried settings in different ways and in different combinations with restarts in between and still no luck.

    Greetings,
If nothing shows up that suggests:
    A. There is nothing in that .ics file
    B. The date you are looking at does not have anything associated with this .ics file
    C. There is something wrong with iCal / it's database.
Try importing that calendar into iCal into a new calendar and then uncheck all the calendars but the new one. Now go to month view and go forward and backward and see if there is anything showing up in iCal.
If there is still nothing try adding a different calendar to make iCal is working as this could just be a bad calendar or a calendar with nothing in it: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/
    Hope that helps.

  • Difficult Import of ICS files

    Hello,
I have an eMac at work. Its software crashed due to some corrupt files. I had someone recover my 'user' folders, which I have on a CD. I had an older operating system, now I have 10.4.8 (I had to wipe the drive and install the new OS)
I have been trying to import the .ics files in vain. In the old OS, they were located in Library/Calendars.
    I have copied Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources and Library/Calendars.
Neither worked. My iCal is empty.
If I click on the .ics files I want to import, it tells me that they are unreadable. Is this common? From what I understand iCal should open directly from the file. Is it possible that the .ics files are corrupt and I've lost the data? Or am I missing something?
I ran the Repair Disk Permissions in case something was wrong there, but that didn't fix it either.
    Thanks for your help.
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Try dragging the .ics files from the CD to your
Desktop before attempting to import them with iCal.
    ;~)
    Hi,
Thanks for answering. They were on my desktop when I tried to import them. I even have an extra copy of the files in my Trash, in case I need to do something else with them.

  • HT204053 imported local ICS files will not upload to iCloud

Although I follow the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4967 (iCloud: Manually Importing data....) there is no way iCloud will reflect the changes on my MacBook after I import each ICS file into the iCloud account. I am running ML. I tried several times both with iCloud calendard sync on and off (in system preferences) with no success.
I am really annoyed at iCloud and the mess it has created with my Mac Calenders and Notes. There is no wat to push from the Mac to the Cloud, rather than the cloud overriding every device??

I found my own answer following two main steps:
    1. Follow these instructions for the calendars you want on iCloud from today onwards. Its tedious but it works in the end.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4337?viewlocale=en_US
Article: TS4337 --- iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting
    2. Follow this tip for any other calendars you want to access but not on iCloud (e.g. archived calendars of old clients, projects, etc.)
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4146260?start=15&tstart=0
essentially only disable the iCloud account from inside Calendars preferences,
and start importing calendars. When you enable again iCloud (from Calendars perefences) you will have both sets (looking as 2 accounts)

  • Send/import an .ics file  to iCloud calendar?

Can I send/import an .ics file sent to my iCloud email to iCloud calendar? This .ics file is being sent from Outlook 2010.  Can import on my iPhone and iPad, but not online.

I'm pinging this. If we have an iCloud.com, we should be able to upload event files to the calendar. Apple, are you listening?

  • Imported a video file and there is only audio.

Imported a video file and there is only audio. It was originally captured from VHS onto a PC. It took over 24 hrs to import the 4.24 GB mpg.
Is there something I need to do since it was a mpg from a PC?

I use Steve's method all of the time, and edit the Audio output in Adobe Audition. You will want to Export/Share to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, and keep that format both going and coming back into PrE. Remember that you will be working with an Audio file, that is the full (or almost) Duration of the Timeline. When you Import that edited Audio file, give the program a few moments to Conform that newly Imported PCM/WAV for editing. I suggest not touching the computer, until Conforming has completed 100%, and the little progress bar in the lower-right of the GUI has disappeared. If the Imported Audio file is short, and your computer is fast, you might not even see that progress bar, but the Conforming has taken place, just the same.
I like to keep the original Audio on its Audio Track(s), and just use Window>Audio Mixer to Mute that/those Track(s), leaving only my edited Audio on its own Track un-Muted. This is a "fail-safe," just in case I change my mind along the way, and wish to revert to the original Audio for some reason. It is much easier to Mute-Unmute, than to gather up all of that original Audio again.
    Good luck, and happy editing,
    Hunt

Using iPod shuffle 4th generation for first time and receiving the error : one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.
Using win 7 and latest iTunes [10.6.3]. Have already gone through below links and did not find any solution.

I was hoping it would be something like a USB device conflict, but now the shuffle is the only thing connected...
This article was one of the ones you linked to above in your initial post
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
Under Part 9. Verify that USB drivers are installed, did you try the steps in If only "Unknown Device" appears?  That appears to be your situation.
Also, you said that the shuffle initially worked well enough to do a sync, then it had the same problem again.  If you can get it to work again initially, before doing anything else, try the following.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  By default, the checkbox for Enable disk use should be unchecked.  If so, check it and Apply the change.  See if that makes any difference.
(If Enable disk use was already checked, try unchecking it and Apply the change.  Basically, set it the "other way" and see if there is any improvement.)
NOTE:  When disk use is enabled, you have to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it physically.
If the disk use change makes a difference, that may provide a clue about the actual cause.

My iCal won't go online and returns the error message: "The server responded with “500” to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation."

OK Now I can answer my own question.  The incomprehensible (inexcusably geeky) error message is actually Apple language for saying simply: "The iCloud servers are down again.  Please wait until we've fixed them."  I found this out by talking to Apple support.  It took about 12 hours for the iCloud server synching calendars to come back online.  When they did, my calendar reloaded, and everything was fine.

Not sure if this applies to all instances, but in our case this issue was caused by an incorrect startup script for the admin node. We had neglected to include the -server flag. Adding the flag resolved the issue for us.
