ICal sending invites from wrong email address

My Mac has an Oedipus complex: Whenever I send an invitation from my Calendar on my iMac, it appears to be sent not from my email address but from my mother's address. (She doesn't even use my computer.)
So far, all of the settings seem to be correct:
In Calendar, Preferences / Accounts setting correctly lists my email address.
In Contacts, the "Me" card correctly identifies itself as me, with my address.
In Mail, Preferences / Accounts setting correctly lists my address.
Also in Mail, Preferences / Composing correctly lists my address under the "Send new messages from" field.
In the iCloud system preference and the iCloud website, my correct address is the only one listed.
In none of those settings does my mother's address appear.
The only think I can think of is that I gave her my old iPad for Christmas and reformatted it using her email address as the default account. That's the only time I've ever entered her address in anything. She doesn't have her own Apple ID, so I synced it using my iTunes.
Facetime now insists upon listing her address as one of my available accounts, so I'm thinking one of the Apple settings somewhere considers her address to be my newest. How do I fix this?
Chuck

I was having trouble setting the default email account in the mail app. Even moving it to the top didn't seem to work. Finally got it working by doing this:
If an account mailbox is at the top, but the account is not the default, drag it down and then back up to the top. This will reset the order and establish the top one as the default.

  • ICal Alerts Coming From Wrong Email Address

I'm on OSX 10.8.2 on an iMac.
I have about 10 different email accounts in Mail.
I also have an Address Book card set to myself, designated properly as me, with two of these 10 emails listed in the card for me.
In iCal, one of my calendars is a Google calendar synch ... I get invites that are imported into Google Calendar, and these in turn get synched with iCal.
Problem I'm having is this... when a Google Calendar entry is set to alert me by email, the email GOES to the right place, but it shows as coming FROM one of my many other email addresses I have in Mail, and I don't understand why.
So again, I receive the email alert at the right place -- the problem is who the email alert is coming FROM.
As my Address Book entry is correct, I don't see how I can control this.  In Mail, when I compose new messages normally it's set to choose the email address automatically of the inbox I'm composing the message from.  So, I don't want to set the default here to any one specific email address.  Could this be causing the issue?

  • Sending Invites From Different Email Addresses

    Howdy--
I have set up two calendars on my Mac Calendar, one called "Home" and the other called "Work".  When I send a Calendar invite to my wife for a "Home" event, I want that invite to be sent from my personal email address (currently my "home" email address listed in my contact for myself in Contacts) and when I send a Calendar invite to a business colleague for a work event, I would like that invite to be sent from one of my "work" emails (also listed in my contact for myself in Contacts as "work").
When I send a work invite right now, the invite comes from my "home" email address--and I don't want my work colleagues knowing or using my personal email address.
Is there a way to dictate which email address a Calendar invite is sent from?  I know back in my Outlook days you could literally just select which account you wanted the invite to be sent from.  Does Apple's Calendar application have a similar trick?
In the past, I had used the work around where I actually changed my AppleID email address to my work email address, so then all of my Calendar invites were sent from that work email address.  But I have two work email addresses now, so I can't use that trick.
TL/DR:  How can I send Calendar invites from personal and work email addresses?
Thanks for your help--I REALLY appreciate it.
    All best,
    MC

    Try this:
Sign out of iMessage on all devices. Sign back in on your iPhone. Wait until it is completely activated. Then, sign back in on the other devices using the same Apple ID.

  • Mail with multiple gmail accounts sending messages from wrong email, other than the one i select

mail with multiple gmail accounts sending messages from wrong email, other than the one i select:
i'm using mail on osx 10.7 with multiple gmail accounts. when i create an email, i check to be sure i'm sending/replying from the correct account. after i send it, somehow it actually sends it from a different account, other than the one i've selected "from." this is evidenced by the reply email i receive. how can i fix this?
in preferences, i have "send new messages from : account of selected mailbox"

From the Mail menu bar, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
              Send new messages from:
    choose
              Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
              Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
              Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
    from the menu bar.

  • I want to send iMessages from my email address

I seem to have the opposite problem of most iMessage users. I want my iMessage to use my email address to send messages, NOT my phone number.
I am currently living overseas, but all of my contacts are still back home, so I want to use iMessage with my email address, since my email address is permanent, while my overseas phone number is temporary. I have set up iMessage to start all conversations from my email address. This has worked for several months, but occasionally it will switch back to using my phone number, breaking up the conversation on the recipient's phone. Although my contacts all iMessage me from their email addresses (to ensure they don't get dinged for overseas SMS), occasionally my phone will receive messages from their phone numbers, breaking up the conversation on my phone.
iOS appears to choose sending iMessages from phone numbers and email addresses at random. How do I ensure that my phone consistently uses my email address for messages, as it is set up to do?
    Thanks.

Settings > Message > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations From ...
Of course, this will apply only to new conversations.  If you are replying to something that someone else sent to your email address, then it will be sent from your email address.

  • How to send ical invites from another email address than the iCloud address

    Hi everyone,
I have set up my calendars in ical to work with icloud and everything is going great.
The problem i have is that when i invite someone to a meeting or reply to a meeting invite the invitation is send from my iCloud email address. Instead i want the invitation or reply to be send my business email account.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to select which account the invtiations are sent from?
    Thanks

    1. I didn't replace my [email protected] login with my [email protected] email. I only changed my email information to my [email protected] email. I still login with [email protected]
    2. The me card in both my local address book and the addressbook on iCloud only contains my [email protected] email.
From what I've read in other threads, changing the apple id email means deleting my iCloud account and starting over with a new login email. Apple officially says that it's not possible. But others seem to have succeed with it.
Do you know of any other solution?

  • ICal sending invitation from no longer existent email alias. How can I fix that?

I've had my me.com email account for almost 4 years now. Of course I've been using iCloud for the past year. The only issue I have at the moment is with my iCal invitations. I used to have an email alias that I no longer use but have deleted it a long time ago. Now when I sent iCal invites recently, people got it as if they were sent from my old alias. Could someone please tell me how to make the invitations be sent from my actual email account?
    Thanks!!

Same problem here, with the following twist.  The Calendar invitation will be sent from a different old email alias, depending on which device I send it from.  Three different old email aliases depending on whether I sent the invitation from my Mac, iPad or iPhone.
And in my case, these email aliases are ones I deleted long ago and do not appear in my list of email aliases when I look at my apple id on iCloud.com
On a random possibly related basis, when I use the app Find My Friends, all of my old (and deleted) email aliases appear -- including the three shown when I send a Calendar invitation.  Not sure whether that has to do with anything, but it is the only other place where any old deleted email aliases appear.
    Any solution?

  • IPhone sending from wrong email address

Since loading OS7, my mail arbitrarily started sending from my gmail account instead of my primary mail account. Even after ensuring my primary was designated as such, reloading outgoing server password and turned OFF the mail function on my gmail acct, all outgoing messages are still from my gmail address. This is really frustrating as clients are beginning to reply to emails to the wrong address. Please help!

If you haven't already, I would open Mail> then click on the word "Mail" in the upper left corner of your screen>Preferences>select the "Composing" tab>in the line that reads "Send new messages from:" click on the arrows at the end of the line to open the dropdown box>select the email Account in the list that you want to be your default account for sending mail from.  That should solve the issue.

  • Mail 8.2 Sending Messages from Wrong Email Account

This has been happening more often than not lately on the Mail 8.2 app. It's driving me crazy, and really messing up my business since I have a professional email (using Outlook) and a personal email (Gmail).
Both email accounts are setup on my Mac Mail. What has been happening is that when I write an email with my professional email (Outlook) and hit send everything seems fine and it will send (like it should!). It shows up in my sent messages in the Mac Mail app under my Outlook account and everything, great!... Oh, but the thing is, it doesn't really send from my Outlook account.
When I log into my Outlook account on my web browser, the email is not shown to have been sent. But, When I log into my Gmail account on the web... What?! There is the message in my Gmail sent folder! How??? It has my signature from my Outlook account and everything. To add to the strangeness, when I look at my Mail app on my iPhone, it says that the email was sent from my Gmail, and not my Outlook...
So, Mail on my Mac says sent from intended email account (Outlook), but in reality it somehow gets magically sent from my personal Gmail account... and shows up on the webpages and my iPhone as sent form Gmail... This doesn't happen every time. Just when Mail feels like it I guess, HA!
This is frustrating. Since it doesn't happen all the time, I never know if people are getting my emails, but I finally got the fluke to happen with a friend. Voila, in fact when this happens even though it's being sent in Mail though my Outlook account, my friend receives the email from my Gmail account with my Outlook signature...
What is going on? Is anyone else having this issue?
I need my personal and professional messages synced to my iPhone and Mac, or I would just say good riddance to the Mac Mail app.
I will just have to start sending my professional messages form the Outlook webpage until this is fixed. This is really unprofessional Apple. I never had this issue prior to Yosemite.
Hope this made since, it's the best I can make of it.
    Thanks!

  • Send invitations from alias email

    Hello,
I use iCloud email but I send messages from an alias. When a calendar invitations is sent, it is not done from this alias but from my main iCloud email address.
Is there a way to change this?
    Thanks in advance.

When sending an e-mail, the "From" address will be your default e-mail account but if you click on the "From" line you will get the option to use any other account set up on your phone or your MobileMe aliases.

  • Sending mail from alternate email address

So i set up a dummy Yahoo mail acct that my corporate email is forwarded to. I changed the settings on yahoo to display my corporate email address as when sending mail (so when i log into yahoo mail and compose an email to John Doe, when he opens it it says it came from my corporate email address). I then added that dummy yahoo mail acct to my iphone. However, when i send mail from it on my iphone, it does not display my corporate email address to the reciepeint, it displays the actual yahoo address. how can i make the iphone send the mail the same way i send it when actually logged into yahoo on the computer? i want reciepeints to see the mail they reieve as if it came from my corporate email address. Help is GREATLY appreciated!

On your computer, this is done via webmail access with Yahoo using a browser, or with an email client such as Outlook or Outlook Express/Windows Mail on a PC, or with the Mail.app on a Mac?
If this is not done with an email client, this is why you are able to do this on your computer and not with the iPhone's Mail app, which is an email client. This is something Yahoo prevents, not Apple or the iPhone. Yahoo has an authenticated SMTP server which doesn't allow for using the SMTP server to send email with another account, or sending an email with a Yahoo account with a different email address other than the Yahoo email address to be shown as the sending email address. This is what spammers do.

  • Mountain Lion Mail - Replying From Wrong Email Address

    Hello-
In Mountain Lion Mail, when I click reply to an email, the FROM filed is the same account the email was sent to.
If I have a rule applied to a message that delivers it to a different folder when it arrives, if I click reply, it uses my default email address, and not the email address the message was sent to.
To be clear, if I hit reply to a message that doesn't have a rule applied, then the action works fine, and it uses the email address it was sent to.
The problem only happens when I have an incoming email routed to a different folder in Mail, based on a set rule in preferences.
Driviing me crazy of course. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I reported this problem to Applecare and reached a CPU Senior Technical Advisor (2nd level support), who was able to duplicate the problem.  He reported the problem to Engineering, which got back to him with the following information:
Engineering was aware of the problem
No decision had been made regarding when or if the bug will be fixed.
He suggested that I also report the problem to <http://www.apple.com/feedback/>, which I have done.
I would like to suggest that the other poster to this thread also report the problem through the feedback page (pick the Mac OS X option and select Mail on the feedback form).  The more people who report this, the sooner Apple is likely to fix it.
Here is what I wrote in part: "The reply function does not work properly in Mac OS X Mail when I reply from any mailbox other than Inbox.  When I reply to an e-mail that is in any other mail box other than Inbox, Mail selects the default e-mail account to put into the "From" field instead of the e-mail account to which the original e-mail was sent.  This worked properly in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is broken in Mountain Lion."  I also gave the Case # of my report to Applecare.
