ICloud and iTunes Match with different Apple IDs

I won't bore you with how it happened, but I ended up with two AppleID accounts using two different email addresses, one for iCloud (upgraded from MobileMe) and one for iTunes.  I enabled iTunes Match before realizing this, and now my iPhone and iPad won't work with iTunes Match. If I change the iPhone/iPad to use the iTunes account, I don't have iCloud.  Can I merge two accounts?  Or is there a way to change my iTunes Match to the same account used for iCloud?
Help!

I tried doing this because I have the same problem, but I can't log in to iCloud with my regular apple ID. For some reason it needs to be an email address.  Any other ideas?

  • ITunes Match with different apple IDs

If I purchase itunes match, will my wife and I both have access to the collection, even though she has a different apple ID than I do?  I have an iPhone 4 and she recently purchased an iPhone 5.

No, she must sing into the iTunes Store with the same Apple ID that was used to purchase the service.

  • ITunes sync with different Apple IDs

I've got iTunes on my Mac, with my personal Apple ID and content purchased with it, and sync a couple personal iOS devices with it.  All is good.
Now here's the complication.  My wife's business has a couple iPads that are currently synced with a Windows machine at her office.  I need an easier way to maintain them, though, and would like to sync them with my personal machine instead.  But they have content purchased with the Apple ID I set up for my wife's business...  is it possible to sync all these devices and their content with the same machine, despite having two different Apple IDs involved?  Or am I stuck using one machine for my personal stuff and a different machine for the business stuff?
    Thanks in advance!

    yes.
a single iTunes can be authorized for up to five Apple ID's. this should work:
    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for both Apple ID's
    2) connect the devices (one after the other) and right-click or control-click them in the iTunes Devices list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPads but, since you transferred the purchases in the previous step, your content will be in iTunes and you can re-populate the iPad with it.
once this is done, the iPads will be associated with your Mac's iTunes library.

  • ITunes Match with Multiple Apple IDs

Before I subscribe to iTunes Match, I wanted to check on how this would work.
    My situation:
    1. Have pretty old Apple ID used to purchase content from iTMS
    2. Have separate iCloud ID.
Which ID should I use to subscribe to iTunes Match?
    Does it matter?
If I use my iCloud ID will I have problems listening to songs purchased with my iTunes ID?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I have 2 relevant AppleIDs authorized for the music on my iTunes (ONE old long-time Apple ID for iTunes purchases, bound to pre-mac.com email; ANOTHER newer mac/me.com ID which had mostly been used only for App store stuff until iCloud -- but which I figure has to be the one under which I try to consolidate in the future).
I've taken the plunge (sprang for Match when I was signed in with the newer account) and find that most music from BOTH accounts is getting matched. Turn on the "iCloud status" column in iTunes -- and sort with that column header -- to see what's "Matched" and what's "Uploaded" and what's "Ineligible" (or "Error").  [You can also make "smart playlists" based on iCloud status, which helps troubleshoot.]
I found two albums worth of "ineligible" Music files -- turns out I had forgotten about a third ID at one point about 8 years ago, those two albums were attached to that one. HYPOTHESIS: it won't upload stuff for an account that's not "authorized" for the iTunes incarnation that's hosting the process. I no longer have access to the email, so I assume I can't authorize those.
WORKAROUND: if you have lots of music from old accounts, look for TuneClone (3rd-party app that "burns" virtual CDs from m4a and m4p files, so you can re-import them as if they'd come from CDs.
I'm still nervous, by the way, about Match's warning that it will "replace" the existing library on my iPhone (despite assurances online that nothing is actually removed), and I've enabled Match only on my (small-capacity) iPad for now. Playback requires a few seconds' patience, but I'm pleased to have access to all my files.
Now with a big hard drive on the new iMac I'm finally motivated to import many of those old CDs of music that I knew wouldn't all fit on my iDevices (nor, for that matter, on the hard drive of my older machines).

  • Can you use 2 apple tvs on the same network with different apple ids and how would your devices know which apple tv to stream to?

    Hi,
I was looking into purchasing 2 apple tvs and was wondering if they can be setup with different apple ids. I need to have mine setup with my id and be able to hook my devices to it , but have the one in a bedroom hooked to a different apple id and have my friend's devices stream to that one and not mine.  Is this possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order that your Apple TV only streamed from your iTunes Library and your friends to your friends, you would both have to have different homesharing ID's.
So far as devices go, any device on a network can stream over AirPlay to an Apple TV, to ensure each of you couldn't stream to the others device you can enable a password via the Apple TV which would then need entering when you used a device for AirPlay.
Shouldn't be a problem to do what you want to do.

  • HT4913 i am trying to get my computer and my wifes computer on my itunes match.  i did the add a computer function and it says that this computer is already associated with an apple id...if you use itunes match with your apple id etc for 90 days...please

i did the add a computer function and it says that this computer is already associated with an apple id...if you use itunes match with your apple id etc for 90 days...please explain.  is this going to screw my wifes account up?

If you both have seperate iTunes Store accounts then basically, yes, it is going "screw up" your wife's account.
iTunes Match is designed as a single-user service which is associated with one and only one iTunes Store account ID. If you have subscribed on your account and want to activate the service on another computer that is already signed in with an account the present account must be signed out and then iTunes signed into your account. This means the other computer will have complete access to your account and will only be able to make purchases on your account. iTM is not designed to be signed in and out at will. If she has apps purchased with her iTunes Store account they will not be able to be updated.

  • Is it possible to have 2 icloud (from 2 different iphones with different apple ids) on the same computer?

I am inquiring as to if you can 2 different icloud accounts (that come from 2 different iphones with different apple ids) on the same computer. I would like both iphones to be able to back up to the same computer since we have different accounts/pictures/mail etc.

Yes, if you create 2 seperate user accounts.

  • Using iCloud and iTunes match, should I still wirelessly sync with my computer iTunes?

Using an iPhone 4 with the latest updates. I keep getting an error message syncing over my wireless network that says "Cannot sync phone. There are too many files open" from iTunes on my compter. Should I turn off the wireless syncing now that I'm using iCloud and iTunes Match?
There are 4 iPhones that are using this feature on our network, plus AppleTV 2.

Even though you have iTunes match and iCloud, there are several other types of media that aren't included in either of the services, such as movies, photos etc, if you aren't syncing any of these to your phones, then you may well be able to turn iTunes wifi sync off.
Personally, I would want to find the cause of the error message and use the iTunes sync for backup, I consider it far more reliable and convenient than iCloud for back up

  • HT6424 Can I restore my pc windows 7 with icloud and itunes match?

    No.
Hopefully you have a restore point setup  >  System Restore - Microsoft Windows

  • If i sign up for itunes match with one apple id can i get the other apple id songs

if i sign up for itunes match with one apple id can i get the other apple id songs

I'm assuming you mean can you access the purchased songs from another apple id.  No you cannot.  You will need to download these on another computer and then transfer the hard files into your itunes library that you are using icloud with and let icloud match them.
You cannot access two different id's from one match account.  Also, if you sign out of the match account that you are signed into to another to download purchases you will not be able to sign back into your match account for three months.  So do not do this either.  Just use a friends computer or another way.

  • ICloud and iTunes match

Have an iPhone4 and iPad2 both with all latest updates. Also using iCloud and iTunes Match.
What is the best way to set these up? I don't need music on either device but noticed my entire iTunes library on both devices. I really don't need music on either device except what I choose for each. Noticed my phone close to needing more storage, so I tried to swipe and delete albums but nothing happened. I went  to the music icon and deleted everything which showed  no data.  Then selected the music icon at bottom of phone and all the music is still there.
I also backed up the phone and iPad on iCloud but nothing shows on iCloud.
What is suggested? Should I back these up to iCloud or to themselves or even iTunes? ITunes Match allows access to iTunes library in ICloud but checking iCloud I don't  see an iTunes library or iPhone in iCloud. Perhaps I don' need iTunes Match?
Need some guidance on the best way to set things up and what some of you have done. Also how do I delete the music on the phone with what I described earlier.
    Thanks
    Don

iCloud and itunes match are different services.  iCloud really has no impact on iTunes match.  When you set up itunes match, I assume your itunes music library was synced up to the match cloud.  You other devices list all the music but don't have it physically on the device until you download it.
You might post over at the itunes match forum where users there are more knowledgeable than most here.

iTunes content can be commingled in the iTunes library on a computer and synced to iOS devices. The computer must be authorized to use the content from the respective Apple IDs in the iTunes Store menu.
