ICloud backup 6 hours long, stopping itself after 2 hours...

Hi guys,
Since i've upgraded to iOS 5, i have multiple problems such as the title says, the iCloud backup is estimated at 6 hours long... And it automatically stops after about 2 hours. Another major problem is that i can't sync my iPhone 4 with iTunes through Wi-fi, my iPhone looks for my MacBook about 2 or 3 minutes and stops itself, without any error message... I hope some one will be able to help me

The iCloud backup still doesn't work... I'm getting fed up with that, please help me guys...

How can I make the ipod stop itself after playing one song?

When playing a song, are the controls at the top of the screen there? (Genius, Shuffle, Loop?)
If not, tap the center of the page once to expose them
now keep tapping the circle on the left part of the exposed controls untill a one (1) appears...

  • Icloud backup taking too long

my iphone 4 has been on "icloud backup" for the past 24 hours. I can't use my phone nor interrupt the back up. How can I get out of this?

How long it takes to restore from an iCloud backup will depend on how much "stuff" you have to restore and how fast (or slow) your Internet connection is.
If you still have the 4S and it hasn't been wiped, it might be more effective to back it up to your computer using iTunes and restore the 5s from that instead.

  • Why is iCloud backup taking so long?

My iPhone 4s on latest iOS prompted me to create a backup as it's been 2 weeks or something. I started the backup 9 hours ago and it still claims it's going to take 4 hours.
Wifi is connected the auto lock is turned off nothing else going.
Any clues as to what's going on?
    Cheers
    Ed

It's hard to say what's causing.  It does sound excessive but backup times depend on how much is being backed up, the upload speed of your internet connection and how busy the servers are.  Also, the backup time estimate can at times be way off so it might not take as long as the estimate indicates.  After the initial full backup, subsequent backups are much faster as they only back up changed files.  This often only takes several minutes or less.

  • I can't turn on iCloud backup on one of my phones after updating to ios7 - help!

Updated both iPhone 4S to iOS 7, I can get the iCloud backup for one phone, but I don't have the option to turn it on on my other phone. I have reset, uninstalled, reinstalled, signed in/out, I can't figure out what to do. I've had no other problems, is not a storage issue, as we had previously purchased more storage and it still shows that we have a huge amount left. I appreciate any help, thanks!

Are you saying that the setting to turn on iCloud backup is missing?

  • Time Machine Backup on External Drive Stops working after one week

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with the Time machine backup on an external LaCie drive. After e few days, it suddenly locks up, not performing any backup unless I force-restart my computer and switch off the drive.
    *My setup*:
    - iMac Alu 24 with MacOS X 10.5.1 and 3Gb RAM
    - LaCie external drive 320 Gb - design by Porsche, connected to the FW 400 port of the iMac --> this is the one used for the bakcups, it is left powered on at any time (never switched off)
    - 2 other LaCie external drives 160 Gb - design by Porsche, connected to the FW 400 port of the iMac --> they are generally switched off
TimeMachine is setup to its default scenario, backing up automatically on the external 320 Gb.
    *Daily usage* :
    - the iMac is set to boot automatically at 6:45
    - I usually switch it off manualy at the end of the day
    - Screen Saver is set to launch after 5 minutes
    - sleep time for computer is set to 1:30 hour
    - display sleep 15 min
    - hard disk are set to sleep whenever possible
First symptom : the computer never goes to sleep
Second symptom : I had the following problem already twice since I installed Leopard, once with the original install and today with the updated 10.5.1 version:
    - automatic backups went fine during the whole day : 7:45 8:45 9:45...
    - then an automatic backup starts but never finishes

  • I'm trying to log in to iCloud through the iCloud prefpane, but it never stops loading after I enter my Apple ID password.

    Hi everyone,
I've been staring at this window for a couple of hours now (not really, but it feels like it):
I'm absolutely certain my Apple ID and password are correct (I recovered and changed it three times since getting this error).
I can log into iCloud on my iPhone4S and onto icloud.com with no problems.
Any ideas what the issue might be?

You have to go to icloud.com from a computer, not from your iPad.

  • I was just wondering if there was a way for me to restore from iCloud backup without restoring the device itself again.

I had restored my iPod touch 4th generation this morning and accidently hit set up as new device. Is there a way where I can take everything from iCloud and put it back on my device without restoring again? Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Back ups can only be used to restore the phone as a whole, you cannot selectively restore from a back up.

  • ICloud backup warning not responding

an icloud backup warning will not respond, even after connecting to imac and backing up through itunes with usb connection. Any advice appreciated!

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • After iCloud backup restore, how can I prevent Podcasts from constantly trying (and failing) to download podcast episodes no longer in iTunes store?

I recently turned my iPhone in to a Genius bar and had it repaired under the iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Replacement Program. Congruent to that repair, I had to do a factory reset (contetn and settings). Once I got it back, I restored from iCloud backup. When I re-opened the podcats app, it began to redownload all old episodes I had on the iPhone before.
Of these many podcasts, 5 episodes were from 2 defunct podcasts no longer on the iTunes store. It gets download errors on these episodes. I can get it to stop retrying (and failing). I have tried canceling the downloads. I have tried deleting the episodes (and the podcasts). I have tried deleting them then canceling the downloads. I have tried marking them as played and canceling the downloads. I cannot get them to be purged from the catalog and not try to redownload.
Outside of someone with access to the iCloud backend who can remove the associations, I don't know if anyone here can help me. But I am open to suggestions.
    Thanks.
(also perhaps of relevance, the period between the wipe and restore included the release of the 2.0 app )

    Hello DonaldGuy,
It sounds like you have some podcast subscriptions that are constantly trying to download but they are not in the iTunes Store anymore prompting an error message. You can use the edit button in the susbcriptions list to delete the subscribed podcasts in question, to prevent the error messages from happening:
    Podcasts at a glance
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iphbaeb5b5cb
Then I would backup to iCloud to update the most current iCloud backup to reflect this:
    Back up to iCloud
If you're using iCloud, it can automatically back up your data if you've chosen this option. You can verify your iCloud backup and make sure that it's up to date by following these steps:
Tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
Turn on iCloud Backup if it's off.
    Tap Back Up Now.
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • When I check my iCloud backup it says it has never backed up and when I try to back manually it gives a message of " estimating back up time" and doesn't back up even after having left it for many hours?

When I check my iCloud backup it says it has never backed up and when I try to back manually it gives a message of " estimating back up time" and doesn't back up even after having left it for many hours?

Yes I have tried that last weekend ad this weekend. I have tried wi fi at different times of the day too; in case it is speed issue. I have tried selecting only backing up limited content and not every thing per what other users suggest.
It's maybe either the router is lousy or there is something wrong with my software or hardware.
    Appreciate your thoughts
    Thanks!!

  • My iPhone 4S is attempting to restore from an iCloud backup.  It's taking a very long time.  Is it still restoring?

I began this crazy fiasco on Friday (it's now Monday). My phone didn't have enough storage to update to iOS8 via wifi, so I connected to my laptop.  Thankfully I backed up my phone to iCloud & even saved pics manually onto my laptop before beginning the update via iTunes.  My computer (PC, Dell Mini) kept making disconnection sounds (my USB ports are unreliable at times) so I began to think it wasn't going to work with the continuously broken connection (it was displaying a message in iTunes "waiting for iphone").  So I thought, well, if that USB port isn't working & it's already disconnected, I'll just switch the USB port real quick.  BIG MISTAKE.  I then got an error message saying the connection was lost & the update was interrupted.  I clicked "OK" & then I was told that my iPhone would have to be reset to factory setting before it could be updated.  GREAT...  So I let it be restored to factory settings via iTunes.  After that it updated to iOS8.  Once that was complete I began the iCloud backup restore.  It started Friday afternoon & ran for several hours, reloading many of my items.  But then I had to leave work, & a wifi connection.  My phone was away from wifi most of the weekend, but has had the spinning 'loading wheel' next to my "4G" icon in my status bar the whole time.  Several of my Apps say their 'waiting' or 'loading' but they don't appear to be actually loading (hence, they're in the same 'loading' spot they've been in for days).  When I looked online I found this:
How can I verify that the restore process is underway?
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup. When the restore process is underway, the iCloud Backup setting is dimmed and you have the option to tap Stop Restoring.
But when I look at the Settings > iCloud on my phone, there's no "Storage & Backup."  Instead, where that option should be, is a message at the very bottom of the page that says "Your iCloud account cannot be deleted because your iPhone is being restored."  This is the only indication I have that it's still restoring, but like I said, the apps have not shown improvement in their loading.  My phone has been back on wifi, connected to power source, & locked since 8:45am (it's now 9:45am).
Is my phone actually restoring??? Or is there a glitch & it's stuck???  Please help!

Now it's Wednesday (2 days since I originally posted) & my iPhone appears to have finally restored all my apps, but it still says it's restoring from iCloud backup.  If all my apps are restored, what else could it be restoring?  IS it actually restoring anything at this point, or is it still in 'glitch' mode???  I've tried turning it off & back on & it continues to say that it's restoring.

  • Ipad Air restore off Icloud backup. How do I know if my apps are taking too long in the "waitting" part of the reboot?

For some reason my Ipad Air decided it wanted to create used space on it's hard-drive today. It suddenly went from using 7GB to 11.5 GB. I couldn't find the solution so I decided to restore my Ipad from a backup last Thursday. Now all my apps appear but it is taking forever to download them, it wont change from waiting to downloading?
    Suggestions?
My main question is, how long does it take in each process till backup is 100% Complete its downloading around 7GB of storage, when will my apps stop "waiting"

Your camera roll photos - those that you take with the iPad or save from emails and websites - are in your backup.
If you use iCloud for backups, restore from your iCloud backup after you restore the iPad. If you restore with iTunes, restore from that backup after you restore the iPad. You can read more here.

But the bottom line is that if you have never backed up, there is no way to save the photos now.

  • HT1766 I started a iCloud backup of my iPhone last night before I went to bed and when I woke up it said 15 hours remaining and stayed that way for over an hour and has not changed

I started a icloud backup of my iphone last night before I went to bed as I was told at the apple store yesterday that it could take up to 3 hours to backup.  When I woke up this morning it was still going and said 15 hours remaining.  After an additional hour or so the screen still read 15 hours remaining.  I need to understand how I am suppose to backup the device to icloud without having to take this long as I cannot be without my phone for an entire day or longer due to work requirements.

If you're in recovery mode, all data is ALREADY lost.  You've no choice but to restore.

  • HT1766 I usually have iCloud backup but I got a notification that my phone has not backed up for the last two weeks, and It wont let me do it manually. Why did it all of a sudden stop backing up?

I usually have iCloud backup but I got a notification that my phone has not backed up for the last two weeks, and It wont let me do it manually. There is also still enough storage space.  Why did it all of a sudden stop backing up?

The HT1766 article you attached lists the prerequisites for an iCloud backup:
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. After you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will run on a daily basis as long as your device is:
Connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi
    Connected to a power source
    Screen locked
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • File Associations to network shared virtual app?

We often use application virtualization for larger apps that would take too long to install via msi. We put those large virtual apps on a network share and users launch them from there rather than installing them locally. It's worked well for us, but
