iCloud for pc not working tried everything ( uninstall - reinstall - delete files - old versions ) nothing helps it just downloads a couple of photos and off again my iPhone uploads perfectly as all the pics goes to the iPad seamlessly, Please Help i'm on windows 8.1 x64, Thanks

I think that the card reader may in fact be defective, but it just doesn't make sense if I have already used it fine before. I've tried everything on this Apple support page, thank you though.

  • Folder Actions will not work - tried everything

Recently Folder Actions simply stopped working on 10.6.4. They worked fine before then recently just stopped working.
I've tried everything I can think of, including:
    1. completely removing enabling & disabling & enabling folder actions through the setup app.
    2. trashing folder actions plist files in user domain and relaunching
    3. disabling related launchd processes with lingon
    4. trashing launch agents in user domain and also trying to unload them in terminal
    5. trying to kill the folder actions dispatcher process in activity monitor (just relaunches, as it should)
    6. emptying system caches including dyld shared cache using cocktail
    7. doing most of the above and restarting
It's driving me nuts. Any other ideas?

I finally go Folders Action to work, after being unable to use it even for a simple beep for years now.
    Here is what I did:
    1. Changed permissions to 755 for the following folder and two contained files (note that 775 didn't work for me)
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.FolderActions.enabled.plist
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.FolderActions.folders.plist
    2. Changed the following lines within ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.FolderActions.enabled.plist (using TextWrangler)
    from:
    <key>OnDemand</key>
    <false/>
    to:
    <key>OnDemand</key>
    <true/>
Prior to the permissions changes within #1 above, the value of <true/> kept getting changed back to <false/> by something in the system... and though
there was improvement by the permissions changes, the following console message appeared until false was changed to true.
    com.apple.FolderActions.enabled[4127] launchctl: Error unloading: com.apple.FolderActions.folders
At this point true is staying true, and not being changed by unknown forces to false, and the above message is not appearing.
    3. The only other thing I did prior to #1 and #2 above, was to run the script (unsaved),
tell application "/System/Library/CoreServices/Folder Actions Dispatcher.app" to tick
This little tell line caused something to occur where my Folder Action surprised me and worked for the first time though it took about 30 seconds and was erratic,
sometimes performing, sometimes not, though if I would do move something into the folder to trigger the action that should occur, and did not occur, then at the point
running the above tell line or script would cause the action to occur.
    4. At this point I don't fool with the tell line or script from #3, and it seems that systemevents has gotten involved, as well as launchd, and with my simple Folder Action script
I'm getting the folder action within 10 seconds compared to 30 to 45 if ever seconds.
    5. This is still too early to tell if this is the wonder pill I've needed since Leopard, and now Snow Leopard (and maybe Tiger as well: I forget when I even tried Folder Actions).
There was a time when I moved things around, so that the items normally found in the former AppleScript folder, were placed elsewhere in subfolders, so I don't know if that lead to this...
because I could get Folder Actions to work on Macs in the Applestore, but not my own Mac. Watching the console messages was helpful. I don't think it's a big concern that
deprecated messages are found sometimes. That's a just a normal part of the constantly rebuilding of things that goes on. It's more like a reminder that we've got an upgraded
OEM part were going to start using, and the older part won't be available after such and such date, so program accordingly, and in the meantime drive.

  • Flash 9 Does Not Work- Tried EVERYTHING

I tried everything from uninstalling, using the standalone,
deleting registry keys, using the ocx files, EVERYTHING. I'm tired
of "This is the answer" posts on internet, which did not work for
me, even though I follow the direction word-for-word.
    Anyone else share the feeling?
I can't use anything- youtube, aim....
    i think i'm going suicidal.

Try this first: Instructions for uninstalling and
    reinstalling the Flash Player:
    1. First download the uninstaller to your desktop from here
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
    2. Before running this uninstaller be sure to read the
instruction and close all running programs.
    3. Open the following folder
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    4. Run the uninstaller
    5. What files are left in this folder?
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
    6. If there are files left, delete the Flash folder.
    7. Install the Flash Player from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
    8. Test the Flash Player here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
If the Flash Player did not install properly, there may be a
permissions issue within your Windows Registry. Please login as the
Administrator (NOT a User with Admin privileges) and follow these
    instructions to open the registry.

    1. Select Start > Run
    2. Type in “regedit”

  • Audio Not working, tried everything...

My sound hasn't been working for a couple days now, I've tried the HP vidoes and Forums and done everything (restores, re-installed the audio, etc.) and nothing has fixed the problem. When i scroll over the audio symbol it has an X on it and says "The Audio Service is not running". I right click, choose 'Playback' and it shows the Speakers and 'Stereo Mix, Realtek High Definition Audio' are disabled, I click 'Enable' but it does nothing. I've gone into Computer Management and right clicked 'Windows Audio' and hit Start but a box pops up saying 'Windows could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process.' Please help, I have online homework to do but I cannot hear the video!

Start with looking at THIS.  If that does not do the trick, then follow the steps in THIS thread.
If all that fails, look at this YouTube VIDEO.

  • IPhone 5 mobile internet not working - tried everything

Mobile internet on my iPhone is not working properly, regardless of the protocol (edge or 3G). It's the strangest problem possible and so far I've tried everything to fix the problem, but nothing helps.
    Here's the deal:
    - when I switch from wi-fi to 3G/E, everythings seems normal (there's the sign 3G or edge on the screen), but there is no internet connection
    - I have to go to settings, switch off 3G and switch it back on and the internet starts working. It solves the problem also if there's only edge signal, which makes it even more strange.
    - when I switch back to wi-fi and then again back to mobile network, the same problem occurs and the same solutions applies
    - the same happens when I drive in my car and the phone switches between two carrier's antennas or if I switch on the airplane mode/reset the phone
I've used the iPhone since it came out and had every version, so I consider myself an advanced user. In order to try to solve the problem I tried everything possible:
    - checked cellular data information
    - reset network settings
    - restored the phone
    - updated the iOS
    - manually deleted cellular data and entered it again
    - went to my carrier to get a new sim card
    - had the carrier analyze the problem on a case study (I sent over location data and time), but they found no mistakes on the network
    - went to Apple and got my iPhone replaced TWICE
    So I eliminated the following:
    - settings error
    - carrier error
    - hardware error
The only thing I have left now is the exorcist.

  • Built in iSight Not working- tried everything here so far?

I'm having the "Camera in use by another app" error with my built in iSight on a dual core Macbook Pro. My cam worked in 10.5, but I started getting the error with the 10.5.1 upgrade. Photobooth and Quicktime both can access the camera fine.
Per Apple Tech Support's recommendations, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iChat, zapped PRAM and SMC, trashed various prefs and generally done everything but revert back to 10.5. Tried the ecamm software. Now both Apple Tech Support and I are stumped...

If you have tried all of those and it does not appear in the Apple System Profiler then it is time for....
    Shut any Airport Card.
    Shut Computer down.
If Ethenet disconnect on end from computer of modem.
Restart Comouter with no internet connection
    Restart iChat
    Reconnect internet
    Log into AIM
Do you have a camera now ?

  • Spotlight does NOT work - tried EVERYTHING

Running older Intel Mac Pro... Mountain Lion
Spotlight just stopped working - it returns nothing but webpage suggestions.
There are NO disks added under the Spotlight System Preferences.
Trying to add and then remove only results in the "Privacy List Error The item couldn't be addred because you don't have the appropriate permissions.
    I've rebuilt permissions. No go.
I've killed SystemUIServer in Activities Monitor - nada.
I've used the info here on How to Disable (or Enable) Spotlight in Mac OS X Lion which includes the terminal commands for killing Spotlight, restarting again, and forcing reindexing. Nothing. Well almost nothing- I got it to re-index for a bit last night... But when you use Spotlight.... nothing.
I have an ugly suspicion it has to do with perceived ownership of the disks by the OS  - anyone care to take me up on this? Here's why:
I you reveal the hidden files you see this:
When I "Get Info" (Command-I) I see these permissions... the disk first, and then the .Spotlight-V100 folder:
So why does the .Spotlight-V100 say that everyone has "No Access"? But looking at my Mac Mini these settings seem to be correct.
I tried changing ownership on the everyone to "Read" (which didn't work everytime I tried until I started writing this of course) but it just returns the same Privacy Access error when you try to add the disk to the Spotlight Preferences Privacy list again. I tried changing it to Read & Write... same thing.
Now inside the Spotlight-V100 folder is the VolumeConfiguration.plist file - I'm wondering if something in these preferences (which you can read unless you change the setting to "Read" where it is first set 'everyone' as 'no access') might give a clue - so here is the content of that file and I'll leave this for now to see if anyone has any clue what's going on here. Thanks

    Hi Linc,
Thanks for picking up my thread and offering your insights.
Going to Console and filtering for mdworker reveals no entries what so ever. I recognize mdworker as one of the key  components of Spotlight so suggests it's not running. I also see that Console is posting repeated crashes for for
    LaunchServices/5123589
    here's the full entry:
2/15/13 8:28:20.942 PM ReportCrash[637]: failed looking up LS service ( scCreateSystemService returned MACH_PORT_NULL, called from SetupCoreApplicationServicesCommunicationPort, so using client-side NULL calls.
    2/15/13 8:28:20.942 PM ReportCrash[637]: LaunchServices/5123589: Unable to lookup coreservices session port for session 0x186a0 uid=0 euid=0
2/15/13 8:28:20.998 PM com.apple.launchd[1]: (com.apple.metadata.mds[640]) Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11
    2/15/13 8:28:20.998 PM com.apple.launchd[1]: (com.apple.metadata.mds) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    2/15/13 8:28:21.107 PM ReportCrash[637]: Saved crash report for mds[640] version 707.3 to /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/mds_2013-02-15-202821_COMPUTER_NAME.crash
this certainly appears also to be Spotlight because running this in Terminal...
    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
and the crash reports stop. Run this to reload Spotlight...
    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
    and the errors start again.
This is the crash report noted above - pretty sure this is what you want now - I see no mdsworker but mds errors all through...
    Thoughts?
    Thanks.

  • Sound not working -- Tried everything

Just installed Arch Linux for x86_64 and have XFCE 4.8.0 up.
My problem is that audio doesn't work from the speakers.
When I plug in my headphones to the jack, I can hear the audio fine. But the speakers on my monitor won't work.
Note: every thing worked fine with Ubuntu 11.04 with the same hardware.
    Here's relevant info:
    lspci
    aplay -l
    lsmod|grep '^snd' | column -t
    ls -l /dev/snd
    sudo cat /proc/asound/modules
I hope I've provided enough information. I did follow the wiki on Advanced Linux Sound Architecture, yet to no avail I come to you.
    Please help me out.

maybe the output is muted. Check your volume mixer for any muted channels.
    OR
run alsamixer from a terminal and (to remove all doubt) unmute every channel. A channel is not muted if the 00 at the bottom of the volume bar has a green background. This can be toggled by pushing 'm'. Also make sure to use the arrow keys to go as far left and right as you can. Some bars can hide out off screen.
If that doesn't work, try the function key 'f6' within alsamixer to select any other sound cards alsa has registered. The volume you need to mess with might not be default.  e.g. if somehow the default card is something like a built in webcam mic.
    Esc quits alsamixer
alsamixer is included in the package alsa-utils.
I don't know if xfce4-mixer exposes all the options alsamixer does (or if it provides even more)
    Edit: potentially useful check
    amixer|egrep '^[^ ]|\[(off|on)\]'
    or
    grep -P "\t(name|value)" /var/lib/alsa/asound.state

I have the same problem.  I called Apple this morning, they told me that they restored "half" of the people affected last night and the next update will be 11 am EST.  Very frustrating to say the least!

I keep getting "Unable to connect" for my firefox. It was working yesterday and I turned my computer off. I can get to the web using internet explorer 9. I don't know why my firefox is not working. Everything else is working.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I have tried everything and nothing works.

    sound problems:
#Restore speaker icon to System Task bar, right-click on clock or tray > Properties > Volume: On
#Click on the Sound icon in System tray then on Mixer, make sure Firefox is not muted [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/icons/fx_sound.png picture]

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with my Dell Latitude E4310, and apparently also the E6410, E6510.
The solution for me was to add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:
    options snd-hda-intel model=dell-s14
I tried that, unfortunately it does not work with this chipset. I do get a different set of channels though but it still cannot record anything. Maybe this chipset is too "new" for alsa. The latest release dates back from the end of January. Support for it is explicitly stated in the changelog to 1.0.24 but perhaps the recording part of it slipped through the cracks. ALSA bug tracking system seems quite closed.
