ICloud, iPhone and macbook

How to set up icloud and have both iphone and macbook in sync? Have followed set up including buying and installing mountain lion but still can't see my iphone updating if I change for example something in iCal on mac and vice versa. Have I missed something?

Problems with iCloud, iPhone and Macbook Pro [Sync]

Hello.
I've been sat down for a while now trying to figure out how to sort out my university schedule. I've had several problems occur, while they all seem to relate somehow.. I have setup my iCloud account with a stable connection and subscribed to my calendars for my 2012, Spring semester. My goal is to sync iCal with my iPhone so I can bring my calendar with me at all time.
1. I subscribe and create the events I need to remember with times set to a specific date on a weekly basis. Meaning I don't want it to occur daily, but each week on a specific date.
2. I sync this with iCloud and can see the calendar preview on www.icloud.com on my user account.
3. I go on my iPhone to sync the device with iCloud and this is where my problem appears.
When I have synced my iPhone with iCloud it looks like something went wrong and my event duplicates twice and starts to re-occur each day instead of weekly (on the same specific day). I have no clue on how to troubleshoot this sort of problem and ended up creating my own discussion thread.

Additional information: I have turned off iTunes sync, however the problem lies somewhere with iCloud / iPhone.

If it is running Lion or the upcoming Mountain Lion,
the following can be synced on both devices via iCloud:
-iCloud mail ([email protected]) or items forwarded to
iCloud Mail
-Safari bookmarks
-Calendars
-Files using any Apple app that is available both for
iOS and OSX.
-Address Book
-Photos
These are what Lion supports. Perhaps there may
be additional items when Mountain Lion releases.
Syncing of the Messages app coud be added since
Messages is going to be added in Mountain Lion.

Synchronizing iCloud, iPhone and MacBook Address Book

I have a MacBook running running 10.7.2 and an iPhone 4. I've activated iCloud on both devices, but they don't seem to actually synchronize. Contacts I moved over from my old phone to the new iPhone are now showing up in my Address Book. However, changes I made to the Address Book did not seem to make it to the iPhone. Now, the old data on the iPhone has overridden the changes I made to the Address Book, and I'm back where I started. Is there some sort of setting that I'm missing that makes the sync work correctly, or is this just a timing issue that will always create issues?

You'll need to save the documents first from the incorrect iCloud account, sign out then sign in to the correct iCloud account and upload the documents to that account.

10.7.5 is not Snow Leopard so we have to wait and see, the answers to the question I asked will define what it really is.

Help with iCloud on iPhone and macbook

I have iCloud on my iPhone and MacBook, but I have duplicate calendars. I have a couple calendars under "On my Mac" and some of the exact same calendars under "iCloud." Can I just delete the calendars under the "On my Mac" heading, and exclusively use the iCloud calendars? I don’t want to delete anything important, but I want to de-clutter my computer.

Yes you should just be able to delete the on my mac calendars without affecting the iCloud calendars.
Might be wise to export them to your desktop as back ups and leave them for a day or so to make sure everything is all ok and there wasn't actually appointments in them you might have wanted.

ICloud does not sync with iPhone and MacBook for iCal and address book.

Thanks for the visual! on my iPhone under Accounts it has my email like your line 2 above with the secondary line 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars and 7 more...'. In the Setings menu under General I have iCloud that has all the buttons turned on for Mail Contacts, Calendars. On my MacBook in System Preferences for Internet and Wireless, Mail, Contacts and Calendars is the iCloud account. There is also iCloud in the same folder as the blue @ sign.
I should explain that I had two mobileme accounts on these devices before switching to iCloud. The first email was a 'family' email noend_er and it was the initial email that I set up iTunes with many years ago then a couple of years ago I set up my own email account with my iPhone and MacBook. I have an Apple guru friend who helped me create my own iTunes on my MacBook and iPhone using my own email account. We cleaned up, to the best, of our knowledge the inconsistency with the two accounts.

What setting will make sync make my iPhone and MacBook Pro contact cards alike? I've been having to key in changes to both devices because sync doesn't sync.

If you really are running Mac OS X 10.7.5 and iOS 6.1.3, you should be able to sync through iTunes, but in current releases you need to use a central contact service like iCloud.
Did you have it working and then not working, or have you never had it working?
Are you trying to use iTunes, iCloud, or something else?

ICal and contact duplicates in my iPhone and MacBook

I have seen other discussions related to this subject but I can't seem to fix it. I have duplicates in my iPhone and MacBook of both iCal events and contacts. I am probably doing something wrong because if I add an event on my MacBook it will appear (fast enough!) in my iPhone, but it will not work the other way. Same thing with contacts. It is a bit of a nightmare and I would like to be able to have things once and automatically synced... if possible, of course, but I assumed this is what iCloud was about.
Can anyone with this stuff under control give me a hand?

I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together. I receive all my emails on the macbook and iphone just fine, but don't receive all emails on my ipad. Some go to Trash because it says they're improperly formatted. What gives?

I receive all emails from senders in my address book in my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but some end up in Trash on my iPad, with the message, "This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program. text/plain" They appear to be mainly from competing platforms, android, etc. Is there a workaround for this problem?

If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.

IPhone and MacBook Pro but only have one Apple account

Brand new to the MacBook Pro world. First Apple laptop (or Apple computer at all for that matter) so of course I have some questions. I think I am correct in saying that basically each Apple device has to be separate and apart from another even if they reside in the same household. Meaning that each one has to be logged on to a separate and unique Apple account and email address for things like Facetime and iMessage to work properly. So, with that said......If I personally own the iPhone and MacBook Pro but only have one Apple account how can I make them both work separately and independent of each other??? The problem I've noticed is that Facetime and iMessage do not work and conflict with each of the two devices.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Mac World. Actually, you can use an Apple ID, together with iCloud to make your devices work together. Both devices can be connected to the same Apple ID, and use Facetime, Messages, and email together.
As long as both of your devices are updated to the latest OS, OS X 10.9 Mavericks for your MacBook and iOS 7.0.4 for your iPhone, you can:
On Mac:
     1. Open System Preferences-iCloud
     2. There should be a button somewhere that says, "Add Account".
     3. Use your Apple ID to log in.
     4. Make sure to enable your Messages, Facetime, and email accounts.
     5. There is no Step 5.
On iPhone:
     1. Open Settings-iCloud.
     2. There should be a button somewhere that says, "Add Account".

To find iPhone:
www.icloud.com
Log in with your apple id and select find my iphone
It must be setup in advance on your iphone to do this
To find mac:
Go on the find my iphone app and your mac will be one of the devices listed if it is setup.
You must have find my mac setup in advance to do this.

Syncing contacts, notes and tasks between iphone and Macbook

I have an iphone 4 and a brand new MacBook Pro and I understand how to sync contacts between the two and with my gmail contacts, however there are still some contacts on my phone that are not on my MacBook. I would like to know how I can keep my contacts up to date on both my iphone and Macbook without having to manually enter contacts from one to the other, ex: if I delete a contact on my phone, I want it to be deleted on my Macbook too. Is there a way to do this? Also is there a way to do the same thing with notes and tasks; between the iphone and macbook???
