ICloud registered to mac address, not me address

I originally got dot mac al those years ago and set up [email protected] (a)
then mobileme came along and I also got [email protected] (b)
I also set up two aliases with mobile me [email protected] (c) and [email protected] (d)
"a, c &d" all work fine on my iphone. but b doesn't appear in the from field wen sending mail.
Obiously as its linked to "a" by way of the same account I still get mail from "b", but I can't send from it, even when replying to messages addressed to "b"
Now my mac address "a" ended up getting signed up for a load of spam through a site that betrayed me so I don't use it anymore and all mails that come to it get atomatically deleted.
This poses a small problem when the iPhone wants to send all mail from this address.
I can choose "c" and "d" but neither of these are my primary email address. "b" is my primary address, the only one I can't send from on my iphone.
If I go into iCloud settings, the account is the Mac address and if I go into it I can't the apple ID from the Mac address, and down the bottom the Mail is the Mac address and if I go into that the address is the mac address and can't be cganged.
I set up iCloud with address "b" and it went back to the mac address.
If I go to manage my ID it has my primary email address as "b" but my ID is the Mac address.
I'd love to be able to delete the Mac address
To make things even more complicated, I can't send email from my Mac address from my Mac Pro, not that it matters, just shows its not all in sync properly, or so it seems.
So can anyone offer any help or tips or insight as to what I can do to fix this. I'v wanted for years to delete the mac address but I can't.

Why iCloud on my mac does not sync with my iPhone

Hey Guys/Gals
How come my mac does not sync with my iOS device.... When I send messages from my messages app on my mac it shows on my iPhone aswel... When someone trying to facetime me it will ring both my facetime on my mac and iPhone... Since this morning after the iCloud ****** up... My devices aren't syncing... Need help...

I believe this was stopped in a recent iTunes update to "force" users to sync the calendar on the Mac and the iDevice to iCloud.

My iCloud on my mac is not recognizing my password

Starting a few days ago my mac is having issues with my iCloud email address. It keep asking me for my password and when I enter it, seems that it is not be ble to sync with my account and it takes the account offline. Then I go to "icloud.com" to verify that I amtering the correct password and it does go but now it is telling me that is not able to get my email data for some reason. What is going on?

My mother has the same issue with her iCloud account. Started last night. Changed password. Nothing works on any device or Mac. I can log into iCloud and get everything except Mail. Can't figure it out.

HT4859 Documents in icloud created on mac do not appear in "Pages" on my iPad. However, items I created on my Ipad do appear in the could and can be opened on my mac. Documents is "on" in icloud settings on both devices. Anyone have any ideas?

SADLY not as i downloaded an upgrad to my original PAGES/
i have in the meantim had to open www.icloud. then from there import the file that i am working on and then check on ipad if it uploaded/ yes it did.
but what a waste of time as it doesn not save any changes done automatically back in the cloud....
i am now downloading the new LION and hope that it will fix the problem
i cant find any other way. I was lead to believe that you wrote, it saved automatically, on to the cloud, you then opened anohter device in anotother country even, and the new file was there, waiting, in its latest version.......
and the same magic was supposed to happen in reverse.

If I switch to iCloud, Outlook for Mac is not synchronizing with iCal and iCloud anymore. Is there a solution for this problem?

I normally use Outlook for Mac as the standard email and calendar programm. When I use the USB cable fro synchronising contacts and calendars with my iPhone 4s ther is not problem at all. iCal, Mail and Oulook for Mac are synchronising perfectly.
When I switch to iCloud, Oulook is completely empty and Calendar and Contacts are not synchronised anymore.
Is this a known problem, and is there a solution for it?

I have the same keyboard and do not have battery issues.
It may have something to do with using rechargeable batteries.
You can also try removing the keyboard then re-pairing it. Maybe a bad bluetooth connection is draining the battery.
System Preferences > Bluetooth > right-click (control-click) on the keyboard > Remove > Remove
Wait for it to show in the bluetooth list then Pair > enter the number sequence & return as displyed on the screen.

Error in Adding Mac Address in WLAN

We have multiple wlan's here in our Company.
Im having trouble with mac addresses which I registered BEFORE via mac filter
and DELETED it after couple of days.
Right now, I need to register this mac addresses again via MAC Filter but error appears below.
ERROR: User name 'xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx' is already used as a Mac Filter.
Need to specify unique MAC Address across Disabled Clients, AP auth,
Management users, Network users and Mac Filters
What can I do to be able to register the mac addresses that already removed to our WLC???

There are two spots that a mac filter is added. You can only have a mac address in only one of these spots. Verify that it is not in one of these spots.

AEBS and Comcast (can I clone a MAC address?)

I am currently an Earthlink DSL subscriber. I love Earthink, but DSL is giving me all kinds of trouble. Covad owns the lines in my area and they are aweful... in any case...
I am going to switch to Comcast Cable Broadband. I have set up many people in the area with Comcast and a wireless router. It seems that Comcast does not do this everywhere, but in my area they "bind" to the MAC address of the NIC that you use to setup the connection (MAC Address Authentication).
If I want to use NAT on my router, it will not work unless I can spoof the MAC address. This is easily done with a Netgear or Linksys router. This does not seem to be a setting in the Airport Admin Utility.
Is there a hidden setting or a third party utility that I can use for spoofing the WAN MAC address on my Airport Extreme Base Station?
I could switch to a different wireless router or put a small router between my Cable modem and the AEBS, but I would rather not add a layer of hardware or switch hardware if I don't have to (I really like my AEBS).

It should be possible, if manual registration of the MAC address of connected equipment is required on Comcast's service in your area, to get them to either clear the binding to allow a new device (ie the Base Station) to associate with the connection, or to ask them to manually register the MAC address of the Base Station's WAN port. I realize you would rather not have to deal with Comcast's tech support people, but (as pointed out above) the only other option is to use a different wireless router that does support MAC address cloning.

Wi-fi MAC address is invalid

Hi, i have a netgear router and i tried to access the wi-fi. It said that the password was incorrect, yet it was. I tried registering the MAC address into the router, but apparently the address is invalid. My address is F0:B4:79:62:0B:50, is that address valid? and if not, what do i do?

- The MAC address you wrote is of the right format. Since it is unique to each device I can't tell if it is the one for your iPod. Are you sure that the password you entered is correct? Unless you turned it off, the first letter you entered is automatically capitalized. Carefully check each letter as you enter it. Also, some users have turned of Auto-Fill in Settings>Safari to get the password to work.
- Have you powered off and then back on your router
- Have you reset network settings:

- Reset your iPod

Entering the iPod's MAC address only helps if the router is set up to filter connections via the Mac address.

Did you actually watch the movie? You get 30 days in which to view it and if you didn't watch it, that could be why you are getting that message. If you have watched the movie and you're sure that is has expired by now, contact iTunes Store Support and seek their help.

IPad using @mac and not @me as iCloud email address

My iPad is using old my @mac.com address instead of @me.com. How do I change this back or get it to stop happening? It seemed to work on my iPhone (which is sending from my @me.com address correctly) but not on the iPad. Both devices are on iOS 5.0.1.

If you changed the Primary Contact Email address, that IS the CONTACT Email address, then that is all that has changed. Your Apple ID is still the original email address you used when you setup your Apple ID.
So if I set up an Apple ID and I use MyName @ MyISPsDomainName . com email address as my user name all emails sent to me from Apple/iCloud go to that address. If I then go in and change the Primary CONTACT Email address to MyNewCONTACTemailAddress @ SomeOtherISPDomainName . Com all emails set to my from Apple/iCloud will go to that NEW CONTACT Email Address BUT My Apple ID is still the first email address I used.

Turns out I was cloning a contact using copy and paste. This created the new contact on Lion and I could edit the name to a new one, etc. however, that contact was not going to iCloud. I sent it to my email as an attachment. When opened on iPad or iPhone in iOS5 the contact info was all blank. Wow, what a surprise! Doesn't sound right to me but that is what is happening. Any contact I fully enter or edit anywhere updates thru iCloud on Lion, iPad or iPhone.
At least I now understand the behavior...don't like it, but now I know not to create contacts with copy/paste!
So does anyone know of an easy way to clone contacts when I have a dozen people to add from the same address?

Is there any way to track a stolen laptop using the mac address, or by triangulating the wifi, or even by checking to see if the macbooks serial number has been registered online anywhere?

A little info on my question,
I had it stoeln on June 22nd 2013. I had recently bought it so had not installed any software on it nor did I have registered with icloud. I had contacted police, registered it stolen with Apple (but then just discovered this week that apple do not have a database for stolen products, which makes no sense at all).
I have contacted all the major pawn shops and computer stores in town etc etc. I have recently discovered that each laptop has a unique MAC address whcih begs the question, is that traceable somehow? I have been made aware that the router strips the mac address before it connects it to the internet but does the isp log the laptops MAC address? If i contacted all the major isp in my country would they have the ability to search for the mac address of my latop and then link that with an ip address?
Any help would be great please!

You said you assumed the database would limit use online but if that's only an assumption, you need to ask Apple what exactly the stolen database does. I have two .mac addresses; how does this work in iCloud?

This is not about consolidating Apple ID's... I think.
When I got my first .mac address, I thought I picked a good one at the time. Later on, due to the peculiar spelling, I opted for an additonal (paid) address which I use every day. Now the first one (which is an Apple ID) contains my calendars, contacts, etc. I never use the email portion of it, again because of challenging spelling. The second .mac address (also an Apple ID) is an email only account. This is the email account I use daily.
When I make the transition to iCloud, I intend to keep my original AppleID (from the pre-.mac days) as my iTunes store ID.
My question is, what happens with my two other accounts?
.mac #1 with the contacts and such would move to iCloud and sync everything there as it currently does with MobileMe. Since .mac #2 is an email only account, would I even need to bother moving it to iCloud (if that's even possible), or would I just keep using that as email only using the current mail settings on my iThingys and Mac? Does anyone know if .mac #2 will live on after MobileMe vanishes, or will I loose my daily and coveted .mac email at that time?
I'm sure Apple has a good reason for not allowing us to just consolidate everything in one place, but I know there are many out there with a similar situation to mine.
I've spent a good deal of time tonight searching the various threads and can't seem to find an answer to the two .mac email dilemma. My appologies if it's already been discussed.
To sum up, I have one Apple ID that I use for iTunes and intend to keep as such. I have two .mac addresses which are also Apple ID's; one that syncs with MobileMe and one that is email only. I would like to use iCloud to sync what is currently on MobileMe, AND continue to use the simpler email address that I've been using for years.

Migrate the account which contains your calendars, contacts etc. first, at http://me.com/move and set it up on your Mac and devices.

Now migrate the email-only account in the same way. On a Mac you can add it in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars - it won't sync anything but will be added to the accounts in Mail where you can then use the email in the normal way.
I don't know what the equivalent process on an iOS device is; very likely you need to add it as an account in the Mail app.

ICloud to Mac Address Book - Two Questions

Okay, I have learned/accepted that iCloud is not the sync'ing deal that MobileMe was (missed that in the fine print as I have been a loyal .mac user from its inception and like the MM syncing). I understand that everything is updated in the cloud and pushed to various devices (for me, iPhone 4S, new iPad and 2009 MBP). So, how is it possible for my iCloud address book to have more contacts than my MBP address book? Wouldn't all of the ones in iCloud be pushed to the MBP? The only thing I can think is that before I understood the concept that there are two address books resident on the MBP, I starting deleting what I thought were duplicates since I wasn't able to merge them due to two different sources. I could not find a way at that time to tell me which line was from what source. Then, once I get the two address books matching - mostly to ensure that I am not missing anything in the iCloud one - what purpose does the Mac based address book serve? I just had a nightmare of dragging various cards from my iCloud address page on the right into the iCloud group on the left and only to realize after doing at least 20 cards that after the first one, the left page registers back up putting the Mac based group across from the iCloud contact list so I dropped many of them into the Mac group instead of the iCloud group. The iCal doesn't maintain a Mac version and an iCloud version, why does the address book? BTW, all software on all devices is up to date as of this posting.

I was thinking about deleting "On My Mac" address book per your above instructions, and sticking with the one iCloud contacts. The problem I am afraid of running into is this: In iTunes, when I sync contacts, the groups that show available for syncing all come from "On My Mac". If I delete from the Mac, will that make my "Contacts" icon on my iPad 'dead'? Thereby, forcing me to log onto iCloud to view my Contacts, instead of a handy shortcut???
Or will I simply get to forgo the iTunes syncing... and the "contacts" icon on my iPad will reflect what was synced thru iCloud?
If the latter is true, does that simply mean I will need to recreate my "groups" in iCloud?
