Icons in finder bar; what do they mean and how to get rid of them

Hi I notice these icons in my finder bar. I'm confused; what are they there for and how to get rid of them?
Thanks for the help!

One is a Flash movie project and the other two a PDF files - you usually have them in your Finder window bar because you've dragged them to that location. You can get rid of them by selecting the icon with the Command key held down and drag them to the Desktop - poof! - they'll disappear.

This cause me not to set up iCloud, so now what?

I found this out on another thread
There is no solution. There are limits to how many iCloud accounts that a device can have activated. It doesn't matter that it was by a previosu owner, it's the device that matters. Everything you do using an iDevice is tied to it's ID number, even Mac computers. This applies to the Apple store as well as the app store and everything iCloud related.

Are you sure you have a PowerMac? They can't run Mac OS 10.6.8. Maybe a Mac Pro instead?
Can you post a screen shot of that portion of the screeen for us to review? Does the question mark replace the Apple that's at the left end of the menubar?

The Other data on your iPod is album art, file allocation structures, your main library file, and any other data that the iPod uses to read its songs.
You can have it removed by going to your itunes and plugging your ipod back into it.   Click the device then click the music tab then uncheck box that says include album artwork.. then sync again.. this time the OTHER stuff will now be removed.

Hello, I have un Ipod classic of 160GB. On my itunes it displays that I have 113gb of other that occupies my memories! what is this other and how I get rid of it?

"Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 1Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 15mb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.
If you have copies of all your media in your iTunes library this isn't a problem, but if you've been manually managing the content then you might need to try to recover the files from it first. See this post by forum regular Zevoneer on transferring files from the iPod to your computer. Some of the tools rely on the iPod having a healthy library however the manual method mentioned towards the end of the post should work regardless.

  • A friend gave me an older Nano 3rd generation. Can anyone tell me how to delete what is on there and how to get rid of his name. It does not connect to my itunes. I cannot even find the source or the place to restore it as suggested in the owners manual.

I have a 3rd generation ipod that a friend gave me. I cannot find anything on how to get rid of his name and music on it. This is what the owners manual says:
"Select ipod nano in the soiurce list and click the summary tab" I cannot find the source or the summary tab on itunes. Can any one help me? I would like to delete everything on it and start over but I am afraid I cannot add anything back on it. I know this is detailed and a lot, but I really need help.

    Restore
Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure toback up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
How to restore your iPod:For Windows:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
    6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
    For Mac:

Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
    6. A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.
    7. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.

  • Why does the windows pop up in adding add-ons mean and how to get rid of it

This forum really really needs to be able to accept an image with the request.
So here I go making an images workaround because the forum is defective
    [[Image:What does this mean]]

It's no skin off your teeth? Ummm... I think you mean no skin off my nose, teeth don't have skin. Most of your sentences don't make sense, it takes some thinking to figure what you meant. As far as your issue, thanks for explaining it further (that information would have been perfect i the 1st post) that is what I assumed and even the thread i directed you to said it's normal for the windows box to open.
You take wasting time poorly? I find that hard to believe, because you're spending a lot of time to give me a hard time, I didn't use language (care to point the words out?).

  • What are Target_ files and can I get rid of them?

Dreamweaver CS4, new user, have no idea what these are and do I need them for anything?
    /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS4/configuration/Inspectors/nav
A bunch of icons of people I don't know. What are they for?

They are what is known as an "Easter egg". Most software programs have them. They're little jokes inserted by the software development team for users to discover if they have an idle moment.
Those particular images appear if you select an image in Design view, and then hold down the Control key on Windows (Command key on a Mac) and double-click the thumbnail icon of the image in the Property inspector. They're images of the program development team, their children, pets, etc.
They serve no purpose whatsoever. They're just a harmless joke, so you can delete the entire folder if it bothers you.
On the other hand, don't go deleting things willy-nilly in the configuration folder. If you do, you'll trash your installation of Dreamweaver. If you're new to the program, and don't know what you're doing, don't touch that folder - ever.
The main configuration folder should be regarded as sacrosanct. However, if your installation is accidentally corrupted, you might be told to ditch your personal configuration folder, which is located in a completely different place. See the Dreamweaver FAQ for details.

  • What is timeprofile calendar and how to get rid of it?

A "calendar" called timeprofile popped up on my calendar list.  It seems to be related to my exchange account but it was never there before.  I tried to delete it but I can't seem to be able to.  What's worse, ical keeps trying to delete it and now I get repeated alerts asking me to either "retry", "revert to server" or "ignore".  But no matter what I choose, it seems to try anyway and the alerts keep popping up all day long.  It's driving me crazy!  Help me at least kill the delete job.

    Eng_J wrote:
I was unable to affect this problem in any way from my local machine. What appears to be happening is that the "TimeProfile" calendar has been exposed, but as a user you do not have any rights to delete it. When you try, it gets stuck in a loop that disallows even the syncing of new calendars.
To fix this: I had to log into office365 through the Outlook Web Client (outlook.office365.com) and add a new calendar entry to my main calendar. When iCal received the new calendar entry, it forgot about the attempt to delete the "TimeProfile" calendar and un-stuck itself.
To keep it fixed: I am not touching the "TimeProfile" calendar for any reason. Do not try to delete it again until someone figures out why it is visible and fixes it. I have a feeling it isn't supposed to be visible and a recent update to either end is making it so. If I had to guess, I'd say wait a month and the next whatever patch will clear it.
UPDATE:  I tried this and so far it seems to be working.  One note though, just in case.  I have no idea if this is necessary or not but I made sure that Outlook wasn't open while I did this, just in case.  I don't use the exchange calendar (although I can't keep others from sending invites to it), but I do use Outlook for my work email.  I just wanted to make sure that iCal was the only app accessing my exchange account while I was trying the fix.  Like others said, TimeProfile is still there but at least no more constant delete error pop-ups.

  • Events: what do they mean and how can I use them?

    Hi everybody,
I'm new to this, so it's maybe a silly question. I can't understand what an event on iPhoto is and I don't know how to use it: for example I'm used to take photos with my mobile now and then so the pictures are not related to an event in particular like a birthday or a travel. They are just everyday pictures. So how can I manage them?
Again: I have some big folders of pictures related to some job experiences abroad. In that case the event is just "Germany job" for example? When I import the pictures iPhoto automatically create an event for each date of the folder, so it becomes boring to rename every single event.
    Thank you very much

Don't get hung up on the Word 'Event'. I have Evetss called Spring 08, Autumn-Winter 05 and so on. An Event is just a Folder of pictures. They can mean whatever you want them to mean. When you import from a camera iPhoto will break the pics into Folders of Days, called Events.

iPhoto -> Preferences -> Events: Uncheck the box at "Imported Items from the Finder"
Now iPhoto will not attempt to split the Folders of Images.
